- Pentay, on 05/28/2009, -7/+102Wolverine was terrible.
- ButchersBoy, on 05/28/2009, -3/+75Q: Is T4 > T3?
A: Who gives a *****?
footnote: Without Cameron these films have gone to *****. I admit I actually got caught in the hype about T4 and thought it might somehow be half decent. Next time I will be more resolute with my cynicism. - Powerfan5000, on 05/27/2009, -3/+69The real question is, "Was T4 a sequel or a prequel?"
- neo991lb, on 05/28/2009, -4/+69Spider-man 3 was terrible.
- Bloodwine, on 05/28/2009, -1/+64The important question on all our minds, how was the lighting on T4?
- xsecretfiles, on 05/28/2009, -5/+58Seriously, Christian Bale and I man, we're f---ing done professionally
- MoPoDNAtest, on 05/28/2009, -5/+51After being disappointed with Terminator Salvation, I went back and rewatched T3. My conclusion is that T3 was a much better movie. T4 has little in terms of plot, didn't revolve around John Connor and it lacked a coherent plot. T3 had some haphazard plot points and some cheesy moments, but overall it was still better than Terminator Salvation.
Christian Bale was horrible as John Connor. Using the gruff Batman voice was a mistake and he lacked any qualities that you'd want to root for like Sarah in the first and John in the second and even the third.
T4 just lacked a compelling central character and the straightforward plots of the first 3 movies. It had plenty of visual flair and dazzling special effects, but it lacked a heart. In T4, I was mentally checked out except when Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese was on the screen. - DanteDefiance, on 05/28/2009, -3/+35I know I'm probably alone here but, I totally enjoyed the hell out of that movie. Sure it had HUGE plot holes and horrid dialog, but I liked it way more than Terminator 3 (which I'm 90% certain was a spoof of the Terminator franchise).
I'm not saying Salvation was even close to Terminator 1 and 2, but it was a nice summer blockbuster and I don't think it deserves all the hate it's been receiving.
***SPOILERS BELOW!!***
WTF at the plot holes?! First we learn that the machines can hear a pin drop form a mile a way, then we see Bale and crew WREAK A FOREST with out a care in the world. That aside the ending heart transplant REALLY pissed me off. Never mind the fact that their all in a desert with sand blowing all over the damn place, what are the chances this robo-dude has the same blood type as Connor? Did these guys even review the damn script before filming?
***END SPOLIERS***
Believe it or not that aside I still give this movie a solid 7. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved the last battle scene - Redge, on 05/28/2009, -0/+32Meh.
T4 isn't bad, but it's just another generic action flick that we've seen 1000 times already. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+32This is why we can't have nice things.
- geodebug, on 05/28/2009, -5/+36The more I think about T4 the more disappointed I get with how lame it was.
I wanted to see an army of kill bots against humans not a repeat of the clone wars droid factory scene. And where were all these newly-minted T-800s at the end of the assembly line?
T3 wins for having Arnold - case closed. Regardless of the embarrassments there is no special effect that can take the place of Arnold taking a beating and then dishing twice as much back.
Why anyone thought the Charlie's Angels director could handle anything with some depth is beyond me. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+31It was ***** distracting.
- kplo, on 05/27/2009, -17/+46T4 blew ass. But it was still totally entertaining.
- AjaxtheGoat, on 05/27/2009, -8/+36I'm just going to ignore these films just like others that ruined good franchises . . .
Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
Rocky V
Star Wars Prequels - damnshoes, on 05/28/2009, -0/+28I want to see another Indian In The Cupboard movie. When I was a kid, i thought that ***** would come true.
- Altair27, on 05/27/2009, -25/+53T3 wasn't great, especially compared to the first two, but I wouldn't say it was "bad." T4, on the other hand, was actually bad.
- dark2025, on 05/28/2009, -0/+24It was ***** done professionally
- redtapemedia, on 05/28/2009, -2/+25It was so. What are aliens doing in an Indiana Jones movie? George must have confused Indy with Han Solo.
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+24The problem with stupid franchise sequels is they appeal to the lowest common denominator now, teenagers. This is why they made T4 PG-13 and why they pushed through a ***** script, the average 16 year-old boy will see 2 hours of ***** and say "it was ***** awesome!"
- cosworth99, on 05/28/2009, -8/+29I'm going to send my dad back in time to make sure JJ Abrams directs T4.
- TDDebug, on 05/28/2009, -0/+21Good boy.
- diggopolous, on 05/28/2009, -2/+21Much better than Doom 3
- cosworth99, on 05/28/2009, -1/+19Since Skynet has yet to be smashed by John Connor the leader, why is Skynet pursuing Kyle Reese? T3 had some issues but timeline and science issues. This plotline makes no sense to me. And even grandma knows about EMPs so helicopters should fall out of the sky damnit.
I also expected T-800 to move a bit faster, be a bit deadlier. Toss and release is not an effective killing option. At least TX wanted to MAIM you instantly. - inactive, on 05/28/2009, -3/+19I think im the only one who liked T3 and T4
- alexforcefive, on 05/28/2009, -2/+18I was pretty excited when I heard about the whole "Bale refused the part until he read the script" thing, turns out that was a pile of *****. I'm starting to lose respect for that guy
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -1/+17My Dad liked it and said "I think they stuck to the comic book didn't they?"
I just kept my mouth shut. - vires, on 05/28/2009, -0/+15I just don't get why they keep having humans punch robots. Don't punch the robot.
- jmdwinter, on 05/28/2009, -10/+25T3 was a great action flick! C'mon! Even rottentomatoes has it at 70%. T4 is at a lowly 33% by comparison.
- arcangelgabriel, on 05/28/2009, -13/+26I got exactly what I expected. Orange fireballs, CGI robots, 8th grade dialog and bullets whizzing by.
It was terminator, not Richard III
Continuity does not rank highly in Hollywood, if it's not expected, you're not disappointed. - josephbloseph, on 05/28/2009, -1/+14You can't compare Crystal Skull and Raiders. When you open the Ark of the Covenant, flying ghosts *actually* melt your face of, but everyone knows there is no such thing as aliens!
- flashpointbob, on 05/28/2009, -1/+14I think that is something we can all agree on.
- geoman2k, on 05/28/2009, -1/+14i hear what you are saying, but if you want to go into that much detail all of the terminator movies had giant plot holes. in t2, when the t-1000 was chasing them why didn't he just morph his legs longer so that he could run faster, and catch up? why didn't he just shoot his arms out as giant spikes and slice up all three of the heros the second he was in the room with them? shiiiitt.... and they didn't even attempt to explain the technology behind liquid metal. ah-nuld just says "heavy metal poly-allow... learning computer" and we are suppose to buy it.
you could go on all day with these, for all four movies. the point of terminator movies isn't to make sense. the point is to watch badass robots from the future, huge explosions and care chases. all four movies delivered this excellently. - Ouze, on 05/28/2009, -1/+12T4 had some pretty bad plot holes but they did a pretty good job of spackling them over with action. I look forward to the next Batman vs Terminator crossover.
- falser, on 05/28/2009, -1/+12Since the Terminator series uses a cyclical timeline, it is technically both a sequel and a prequel.
- DCstewieG, on 05/28/2009, -0/+11Completely agree here. Another thing about the T-1000 is that it'll walk menacingly toward Connor (at least to start with). This thing's entire purpose is to kill him, why wouldn't it run as fast as possible? Answer: dramatic effect because IT'S A MOVIE!!
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 05/28/2009, -7/+18Salvation < Rise of the Machines < Terminator < Judgement Day
- AmazingA, on 05/28/2009, -4/+15Anybody that's digging you down hasn't seen T3 lately, I saw it again the other night and couldn't believe how bad it was. Like a crappy made for TNT 'B' Movie. ...Arnold put on Elton John sunglasses for ***** sake.
- teamgwho, on 05/28/2009, -4/+13T3 > T4
Why? I know this probably isn't how anyone else may look at it but... T3 was a rehash of T2. and T1. Just different actors/different stunts. It had very little to say and was an attempt to further cash in. I had low expectations, and it was an enjoyable pop corn yarn.
T4 on the other hand was presented as the telling of a tale we hadn't yet seen. the war with skynet. How JC became the man, the myth, the legend, and changed from whiny teen (I still can't get Edward Furlong's ascreechy voice of my head 20 years later) to confused and scared (nick Stahl) to the man with the brass balls. It appeared, based on the interviews with McG as if they had a new story tyo tell and has respect for rthe mythology. Instead we get a rehash of ideas seen in the previous movies, a wasted cameo by Arnold, a wasted appearance by Michael ironside, and a waste of the awesomeness that is Christian Bale. The idea for this movie would've been ok for T5, but not T4. (or a standalone not JC film) I wanted to see how JC became a leader. I go nothing. I wanted to see him be heroic. I'm sorry, but running into SKynet central with no backup was just stupid (and painfully stupid easy)
In short, I had expectations that there was a brain behind this, and the movie was flat out stupid. I can forgive a movie for cashing in if it's entertaining. this movie wasn't about cashing in. and yet it dropped the ball big time. It was barely entertaining. and I can't forgive that. - geoman2k, on 05/28/2009, -4/+13***** all y'all i liked em both.
the first two were james cameron movies. the guy is one of the best film makers of all time. of course t3 and t4 aren't going to match the originals... but they were still kick ass movies - Bloodwine, on 05/28/2009, -0/+9I always imagined a movie about the future in the Terminator universe would be a horror thriller cat-and-mouse game. The humans constantly hiding and running through tunnels yet having to surface from time to time and expose themselves. There would be great tension because the surface was never safe, and there would also be terminators hunting in the tunnels.
Basically I wanted a really good zombie movie, except replace the zombies with Terminators. - ricky125, on 05/28/2009, -1/+10yes, which is better. *****, or ***** with ice cream on top?
- seanstuart, on 05/28/2009, -0/+9Oh damn. If everyone is debating the better of T3 and T4, then that definitely means I don't need to see this latest one.
I think the studio should pull a "Coca-cola Classic" and re-release the original movie in the theaters. I'd see it. - blackhole82, on 05/28/2009, -3/+12I would say they were about even, with maybe a slight nod to T3.
- DevSingh1359, on 05/28/2009, -1/+10^ I take it you've never actually watched American Psycho.
- samsonrocks, on 05/27/2009, -11/+19only Arni could have saved T4 from becoming a sad washed up joke
- inactive, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8awful.
- snareguy17, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8I went to digg the above 3 users and in doing so, they had already been dugg up like 3-4 times each.
- TheInformer, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8Alien: Resurrection?
Alien - kick ass
Aliens - kick ass
Aliens 3 - moody, depressing, but ok
Resurrection - sucked - Dumbledorito, on 05/28/2009, -0/+8My biggest problem with T3 was that if you took out all of the dialogue and scenes that were direct callbacks to the previous two films (played for laughs, not for plot), you'd cut out half the film.
And if I recall correctly, there's a scene where a pickup truck hits a fence, and the cars on either side of it explode for some reason, pushing the "Action Film Law of Combustability" to it's very limits. - gfxlonghorn, on 05/28/2009, -2/+10How about plot holes then?
**************SPOILERS************
Skynet had a ***** robot factory, and they could only send 3 robots to try and kill John Connor? What did they just open the robot factory that day? Also, I'm pretty sure you can't just blow up a nuclear powercell and have it create a nuclear bomb. It's not exactly how that works. Otherwise, every time you kill a robot, it would have a decent chance of it turning into a nuclear bomb. The whole side story line with Moon Bloodgod was pointless, although she is very hot. And you can't just transplant a heart from robot to person like that. It probably would have been rejected and Connor would have died. -
