- BFNews, on 05/03/2008, -3/+9Hope it's great - going to see it tonight. Even talked my girlfriend into seeing it. Of course, I agreed to take her to Sex and the City, so that means she has to see Iron Man, Indy, The Dark Knight... lol
- kevlarbaboon, on 05/03/2008, -10/+4She better be hot enough for it to be worth it.
- asskey, on 05/03/2008, -6/+5Seriously, if she doesn't already want to see those movies, you guys are not going to click well...

I thought it was a very good ending....it was unexpected and impactful. One of the most consistent things in a superhero movie is the hero jealously protecting their secret identities and a certain amount of each of these movies is taken with that old plot device. For Tony Stark to make a decision to just blurt out that he is Iron Man at the end takes all the possibility of that old hack stuff out of the sequel, and was very fitting with how Robert Downey Jr. portrayed him throughout the movie and gave a wallop of an ending.- fasda, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I think they'll hide it in the second movie. at a press conference Rhodes will show up in the suit at and suspicion will fall of or tony will just have jarvis fly it. They done it in the comics so people will swallow it in a movie.
- fasda, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I think they'll hide it in the second movie. at a press conference Rhodes will show up in the suit at and suspicion will fall of or tony will just have jarvis fly it. They done it in the comics so people will swallow it in a movie.
- bagboyrebel, on 05/03/2008, -5/+1well it technically wasn't the ending, it was more of an epilogue. As soon as the credits roll the movies over, the rest is extra.

- DesertDude, on 05/03/2008, -5/+3I just love the excited title: "Iron Man is the Best-Reviewed Movie of 2008!"
Heh. Like he's getting a cut of the gross or something.- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Yeah I didn't know it was a team effort.
- BFNews, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I wish, but I didn't write the headline - it's from RottenTomatoes.com
- CannedMango, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Maybe he just likes Iron Man and is excited that this movie isn't going to be Ghost Rider.
Plus... sequels are now pretty much guaranteed.
- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Yeah I didn't know it was a team effort.

*****.- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -2/+4What's *****? Did you see it yet? It was fantastic all the characters were cast perfectly. The acting was great. I saw it Thursday and it's the best superhero movie I've ever seen.
- chillypacman, on 05/03/2008, -3/+2I thought most everyone (and you are of cousre a part of that broad demographic) was going to stay home and play GTA4?
I feel sorry for Iron Man, if it's a good movie it deserves good box office sales. Not its fault for releasing alongside GTA4 =(- soupdawg30, on 05/03/2008, -0/+5Take a two hour break like the rest of us and go see the damn movie!
- Varz, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3I just got home from watching it, it's AWESOME.
I'm saying that as a fan of the cartoon series, loved that show as a kid. - poxonyou, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4SPOILER FOR SECRET ENDING!!!!
They play Reverend Wright clips repeatedly for 15 minutes with zoom ins and negative effects. - Asianwaste, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1For those who haven't seen it and are planning to remember this: There's a post credit scene. So wait a few minutes after the movie's done.
- Vigilo, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1Its a good movie but its not AMAZING. Its just not a bad hero movie. This seems like hype to me. I mean i watched it and it was good but not the best hero movie of all time. Spiderman and batman begins and superman 2 were all better.
- BFNews, on 05/03/2008, -3/+9Hope it's great - going to see it tonight. Even talked my girlfriend into seeing it. Of course, I agreed to take her to Sex and the City, so that means she has to see Iron Man, Indy, The Dark Knight... lol
- ericmoro, on 05/03/2008, -5/+13Can't wait to see it!
- xmod3, on 05/03/2008, -7/+2cool. can't wait for the torrent.
- bitfreak, on 05/03/2008, -9/+139I just saw Iron Man, and it was GREAT. Please, go check out the reviews on Rotten Tomatoes; this is the highest rated movie of 2008, and the highest rated Super hero movie they've ever had. It really was that good, pulled it off without being schmarmy or pretentious. Even my wife (who hates superhero movies) really enjoyed it. Robert Downey was perfectly cast. 2 thumbs up!
- bitfreak, on 05/03/2008, -6/+49I forgot to add, I hope this movie gets younger people and kids in school fired up about technology, science, and engineering, and the possibilities they have for us. Sure, it's a movie, but it can serve as a start to some great conversations about academic pursuits.
- BFNews, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2Sounds great about the movie. My girlfriend isn't into superhero movies at all. Nice thoughts about the educational aspects as well.
- Archeologist, on 05/03/2008, -8/+28Just like Transformers got kids enthusiastic about technology, science, and engineering, and the possibilities they have for us, right? Nope.
- Daggity, on 05/03/2008, -0/+34It got me enthusiastic for Megan Fox, is that close enough?
- JeffD, on 05/03/2008, -0/+13Yeah but transformers sucked, whereas Iron Man was great. Plus... super genius engineer who builds his own mech suit and becomes a super hero vs space alien robots? Its no contest, the guy who builds his own suit does a better job at encouraging people to think about science/engineering than robots that just appeared out of no where.
- solidus636, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Transformers wasn't all that bad...
- Sk8SkaNJ, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Jurassic Park spurred a huge increase in the paleontology field, so its plausible.
- fasda, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2it made me want to get into genetics.
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Trasnsformers has nothing to do with. science. They're aliens lol.
- LocalDocal, on 05/03/2008, -11/+1You hope a movie about Iron Man is going to get kids riled about science, engineering, and the possibilities of academic pursuits? Are you ***** serious? That's like hoping Superman Returns made kids explore the possibilities of life in other parts of outer space and that it may well already exists among us on Earth in some form or another.
- solidus636, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Well, it does get kids wondering about that sort of stuff... What if there IS already life from outer space living on earth?...
- stevealford, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Ever seen one of these before?
*flash*
- stevealford, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Ever seen one of these before?

- Feep, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4These guys are haters. The movie did a very good job of portraying electrical and mechanical engineering design principles, even if the tools used in the process were a bit outlandish. (Stark did use a soldering iron more than once though, thumbs up.) As a EE myself, I left the theater with a burning desire to build something awesome, and hopefully it can make some younger children feel the same.
- rodrigo74, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Calm down now.Welcome back to the real world.
- 1randomguyO8, on 05/03/2008, -20/+6Well your wife and I have something in common, we both hate pretentious super hero movies. But I guess if she liked it and it's getting great review, I'll have to give it a download.
- Rockmaninoff, on 05/03/2008, -0/+19You can't possibly hope to get a movie theater experience from your 15.4" laptop screen, can you?
Go see it in theaters.
Even if you've got an in-home theater, there's nothing that can quite compare.- 1randomguyO8, on 05/03/2008, -2/+3Actually im content with what I've got at home. I went to the movies a couple weeks back and it cost me $16 for the ticket. The movie I watched was actually a spoof on super hero movies called "superhero movie"(I think). Needless to say it sucked ass, so I walked out and watched the Bollywood movie next door, then Will Ferrels basketball movie from the 70's(which wasnt too bad)
- samdu, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Go to better movies. How could you NOT know that Super Hero Movie was going to suck? And you decided to go to the theatre to see that, but you're going to download Iron Man? WTF?
- 1randomguyO8, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Well I watched 3 movies like I said =p
- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2And then after that. Him and his mommy went and ate some ice cream at Baskin Robbins. He didn't really like the rainbow delight he orderered, so he traded with his mommy. After their day out together they went home where he went into his room and cried like a baby in his bed until he heard the lone sound of an instant message. He got up to check it and...

- FogDogg, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6Don't pirate movies that are actually worth paying for.
- stevealford, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Then what the ***** are we supposed to pirate? Movies that suck too much to watch?
- 1randomguyO8, on 05/03/2008, -2/+2Not worth AU$16
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Did you see it yet? Because I would pay $20 to see a movie that great. It was awesome.
- Rockmaninoff, on 05/03/2008, -0/+19You can't possibly hope to get a movie theater experience from your 15.4" laptop screen, can you?
- AzraDarkness, on 05/03/2008, -1/+13Agreed, this is one of the best movies I have seen..Gwenth and Rob worked great together. I havent seen a comic movie of this caliber in a long time, if there ever was one! 2 Thumbs and a foot!
- JeffD, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Spider Man 1 was close, but I think I actually liked this one better.
- gkwillie, on 05/03/2008, -0/+12I also agree. That was the best big budget hollywood flick I have seen in a long time. It delivered what it promised without being patronizing or oversimplified. For a superflick, it was superbly done. One of the finest of the year without a doubt.
- humperdeath, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1This is not saying much, I mean, what other good movie has come out so far this year? Name one! (I'm not knocking this movie, I'm gonna see it as soon as I can)
- JEdwardFuck, on 05/03/2008, -6/+3Doesn't look too favorable to me..

- DeepFriedFetus, on 05/03/2008, -8/+79Possibly the greatest superhero movie of ALL-TIME? I seriously can't wait to see it tomorrow, I'm gonna freeze myself and have Butters unfreeze me tomorrow
- BFNews, on 05/03/2008, -7/+2lol
- h4mx0r, on 05/03/2008, -1/+44You'll end up waking up in the future only to find that the Iron Man clips no longer work with the holodecks of that age.

Not so fast. Iron man is gonna be so awesome they should call it a nutbuster. - joegibes, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Superman II?
- bicyclethief, on 05/03/2008, -9/+1Spiderman 2 is the quintessential superhero movie-- and therefore the greatest all-time, IMO.
- soupdawg30, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2I would agree but I watched Iron Man tonight.
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5You have got to be kidding me. If follows stock script, and is terribly unoriginal. Spiderman even loses his powers for no apparent reason, and gains them back when his girl is captured by a guy with long tentacles. It's like they're alluding to erectile dysfunction.
- bicyclethief, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1You'd better stick with Bruckheimer films.
- GregorCZ, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7uhh.. Batman Begins, anyone?
- soupdawg30, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Iron Man = better
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6Yes, great movie - but hold yoru judgement until after you watch Iron Man. One of the best movies I have ever seen.

9/10 maybe more- tattertech, on 05/03/2008, -1/+16Uhhh really? Dude.... RT isn't a blog...
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -0/+6Really? Lame ass? Are you trying to sound cool? Because you're coming off as a complete idiot.
- N3k74r, on 05/03/2008, -17/+2It was pretty awesome, too much suit building though.
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Not bloody ENOUGH
- CannedMango, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2Agreed... they could have added an hour to this movie and had it feel like it breezed by.
- bagboyrebel, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The suit building was part of what was so cool about the movie.
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Not bloody ENOUGH
- Nhmarine, on 05/03/2008, -67/+7A guy in a flexible (haha!) iron suit that has rockets (haha, so rediculous!) coming out of his shoes, which not only lift him vertically but (omg, haha!) horizontally? Please, movie producers, ***** off and stop providing a crap-fed nation even more crap.
- manfrin, on 05/03/2008, -5/+33Way to not get the concept of movies at all.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -41/+4Seriously, these super-hero movies need to stop. Saying "the greatest super-hero movie of all time" is kind of like saying "the most spectacular turd of all time".
- Rockmaninoff, on 05/03/2008, -2/+9That would still be pretty epic.
- aeon2012, on 05/03/2008, -3/+18Shut the ***** up.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Homosezwhat?
- fasda, on 05/04/2008, -1/+3Your ***** stupid
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Homosezwhat?
- fjeirsou, on 05/03/2008, -1/+12It's cool to hate things people like.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1Hey, I hate you, even though no one really likes you.
- Varz, on 05/03/2008, -1/+10You rebel you.
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5Complain all you want. Every time a superhero movie comes out, I'm going to think of you getting exasperated, and smile to myself. Too bad, Baby W.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Every time I hit some fine puss, I'm gonna think of you, sitting there and jerking off to you 15,000 piece comic book collection, waiting for X-Men 10 to come out and smile to myself.
- CCoe, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2Hey, Baby W! You know what the difference between our two comments is? I'm absolutely sure that you get all huffy and puffy in compute futility about these kinds of movies, and you're trying to make me mad based on an unfounded and ridiculous presumption. Do you realise what that means? You may not be offending me in the slightest, and I'll still be laughing at people like you. I own one (1) graphic novel. It's called "Red Sun" - and I recommend it. It's quite well done. Toodles, Baby W!
- BabyWookie, on 05/06/2008, -0/+1Your defensive and apologetic tone, along with the random usage of the word "toodles", leads me to believe that, in addition to being a person of the gay homosexual persuasion, you were indeed offended. ***** a doodle doo!
- schroeder, on 05/03/2008, -2/+33Have you ever read a comic book?
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1No. I was too busy reading real literature when I was a kid.
- fasda, on 05/04/2008, -1/+2so you didn't have a life even before the internet?
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1No. I was too busy reading real literature when I was a kid.
- zanderw00t, on 05/03/2008, -3/+33Actually, the suit's made out of a gold-titanium alloy. Duh.
- solidus636, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Doesn't have the same ring to it.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -2/+2Wow, that makes a lot of sense. I mean, it's not like gold is very heavy, soft and has a low melting point. Oh wait, it is and it does.
- commenter01, on 05/03/2008, -3/+11Lol i laughed reading his comment. Why is flexible funny? The suit has joints... Also, why are rockets 'rediculous'? And what is 'rediculous', for that matter? Also, Nhmarine, you do not need to lift stuff horizontally. Just vertically.
- specialK16, on 05/03/2008, -2/+6I dug you up but after I second read I just went "wtf?".
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Actually in the comics it says the metal itself is completely flexible. Check the Wikipedia article. There's apparently some very confusing science behind it.
- bassman12593, on 05/03/2008, -1/+15its called a comic book superhero. Had you no childhood?
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Have you no life?
- mablung, on 05/03/2008, -2/+11You are an idiot.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Being called an idiot for not liking gay comic book movies is like the only normal guy at a nut house being called "mental", just because he's different from every body else. You are the idiot, buddy.
- aeon2012, on 05/03/2008, -3/+20Shut the ***** up.
- BabyWookie, on 05/03/2008, -3/+1Do you know any other phrases, buttboy?
- fjeirsou, on 05/03/2008, -0/+14Yeah, how dare movies transport us to a world of mystery and wonder!
- Varz, on 05/03/2008, -2/+6WOW you really are dumb, what you said is like saying a missile can't go horizontal if you turn it on its side. Also, the armor isn't flexible...ever heard of joints?
Anyway it's a MOVIE and a lot more plausible and more enjoyable than any other superhero movie I've seen, in fact it's the best movie I've seen in a while.- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The armor in the comics IS flexible metal. But, seriously, who cares. This movie was fantastic.
- Varz, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1But in the movie it isn't. He says it's a "Gold titanium alloy".
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The armor in the comics IS flexible metal. But, seriously, who cares. This movie was fantastic.
- bagboyrebel, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6Ok, everyone hear that? From now on, all movies must be exactly like real life!
- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah no more religious movies
- WallnutBoy, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Was that really necessary?
- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3Maybe?
- WallnutBoy, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Was that really necessary?
- yuutokun, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Yeah no more religious movies
- samdu, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Based on comics canon, the suit is actually constructed of a microscopic mesh.
- Pureeviljester, on 05/03/2008, -22/+6I put this movie at number 2 out of super hero movies. Unbreakable being number 1 of course.
- CrimsonBlur, on 05/03/2008, -1/+9Of course. NOT
Unbreakable is definitely underrated in my opinion, but the best superhero movie ever made it definitely is not.- bensone1, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1wow....
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1That movie sucked...
- CrimsonBlur, on 05/03/2008, -1/+9Of course. NOT
- 1randomguyO8, on 05/03/2008, -12/+1Should be a big hit for digg community. *prepares to bombarded with iron man submissions*
- DanteDefiance, on 05/03/2008, -7/+162I have a few questions about the movie:
1. Can he see or is he blind?
2. Has he thoughts within his head?
3. Can he walk at all? Or if he moves will he fall?- mali1, on 05/03/2008, -15/+6Dugg for Black Sabbath.
- Corrosionx, on 05/03/2008, -23/+31. He can see
2. Yes he does.

Did Black Sabbath even write about the same guy at all?- NeoCortex, on 05/03/2008, -1/+13I think they must have been singing about Ozzy.

- GerbilKing, on 05/03/2008, -5/+0GTA4 is the game of 2008. Ironman is the movie of 2008. What the hell could be next? Pr0n star of 2008? I hope.
- HorseloverFat8, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3The last line of the movie is "I am Iron Man".

4. Has he lost his mind?
5. Is he alive or dead?
6. We'll just pass him there, Why should we even care?
- LupeFiasco, on 05/03/2008, -4/+34Batman Begins is still my greatest comic movie of all time but, Iron Man is a close second. Watched it last night and it was great. I have been waiting for a while for this flick and it lived up to me expectations. Kudos to cast and crew.
Now if Hulk and the upcoming Thor movie can be as good we might actually see an Avengers flick.- ObamaWins08, on 05/03/2008, -10/+1A Thor movie can't be good.It just isn't possible.

- macweirdo42, on 05/03/2008, -0/+24I swear... It's almost worth it to me to see the movie just for the brief clip featuring Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury.
- woody56292, on 05/03/2008, -0/+9It was amazing. Jackson's portrayal of Nick Fury was easily one of the best parts of the movie. (not that the rest of the movie wasn't great, it was just that epic)
first time I actually heard a crowd gasp in awe.- LupeFiasco, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2OMFG, you're kidding me! I dd not know at all about the Sam Jackson as Nick Fury cameo..... I left right after the credits. DAMMIT>!
- woody56292, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1there is a youtube link floating around somewhere, it is definitely worth a watch. Or you can head to the theater again and make sure to stay, I know I will be going to see this movie again.

- OmEgA286, on 05/03/2008, -13/+3it was good, but not on the level as begins or spiderman 2, and ill be pissed if it beats the dark knight. the trailers for it alone was better than iron man.
- 9bpm9, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4I didn't get to see a Dark Night trailer when I saw Ironman, but I saw the Hulk trailer and that looked pretty awesome.
- john2782, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7Spiderman 2?!?! Really?
- killbert24, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Spiderman 2 has a 93% on RottenTomatoes and many reviewers said it was the greatest comic book movie ever made. Iron Man just came out and has a 94% on RottenTomatoes, which will definitely drop as time goes on and more reviews are added.
Don't act so surprised that someone liked a great film.- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -2/+1That movie was crap. The whole bit about spiderman losing his powers was bollocks. The spiderman movies involve waaaay too much drama.
- samdu, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Actually, it's holding firm at 94% with 155 reviews in.
- killbert24, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5I'm not sure why you're getting dugg down. The Dark Knight is Iron Man's biggest contender this summer and definitely has a huge following. Many people will be comparing it to Iron Man and many will be sad if it doesn't get more critical acclaim or live up to expectations. Personally I don't care which one receives better 'reviews'.
- Balks, on 05/03/2008, -1/+4Spiderman 2? Better? I don't think so. The spiderman movies (while great in their own rights) have way too much drama in them. What Marvel did with this movie is took control and did justice to the comic. Robert Downey Jr. was the perfect match for Tony, more so than Toby was for Peter.
In My opinion, Iron man is on a whole different plain then the Spider Man movies, which have been milked for all they are worth, just like the x-men movies. Iron Man > Spider Man trilogy combined. Dark Knight is a different story. It's a totally darker story and it really isn't easy to compair the two. We'll see how the next film does.
- OfNumbers, on 05/03/2008, -13/+1Anyone else catch the scene where he runs from the morbid history of being on Ally McBeal for 4 years? Not even Stan Lee approved that scene.
- shinelikeitdoes, on 05/03/2008, -14/+3the new hulk looks as lame as the last one. i dont care who you get to play the human , the cg monster looks STUPID.
Thor? viking god in tights. no ..probably not.- elroyel1327, on 05/03/2008, -1/+7If the Iron Man trailers taught us anything, it's that marketing departments are more than happy to put unfinished special effects scenes in trailers. The finished version of that scene blends seamlessly with real world stuff. In fact, I suspect that, had we not seen the unfinished version, most people would be hard pressed to tell that the whole thing was CGI.
I have no idea if the same is the case for the Hulk trailer, but having seen Iron Man now, I'm actually quite pumped to see what they do with this Hulk reboot and how it fits into the larger story that Marvel are endeavouring to tell.- samdu, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1There's actually very little CG in Iron Man. Favreau used practical effects at every opportunity. Obviously there were scenes where that wasn't possible, but there's a lot more physical stuff in this movie than most people would expect.
- bagboyrebel, on 05/03/2008, -0/+2Because makeup monsters look real? Or are you just trying to sound hip by hating new technology?

Stark walks into his living room. The lights are dim. It's evening. Stark is surprised to see a figure standing in his living room gazing out the window.
Stark: Who the hell are you?!?
The figure turns around. It's Samuel J. Jackson. He has a patch over one of his eyes.
"My name is Nick Fury, and I'm the director of SHIELD. You have no idea what you've gotten yourself into. You've just stepped into a larger 'universe'.
I'm here because I want to speak with you... about the Avengers Initiative."
(fade to black)- soupdawg30, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4Commence fan cheering.
- cerealjynx, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3You misquoted a little bit. But I'm not gonna try to correct you or anything. I do recall Fury saying something like "You think you're the only superhero out there?" to break the ice, not Stark asking who the hell he was.
- shadowman99, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I didn't hear that line. Of course, everyone who stayed through the credits was going ***** at the top of their freaking lungs, so I'm sure you'll understand why I missed it.
- LemmingJesus, on 05/03/2008, -8/+1I know a lot of heroes exist in the same universe, but I hate it when heroes are mixed together. It makes the heroes seem less super human when everybody is flying around.

- LemmingJesus, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Directors and actors get way too much credit, so many more people are involved to make a movie.
- Niightwitch, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I believe it, but that doesn't necessarily mean I want to read everyone of their names.

- LemmingJesus, on 05/03/2008, -10/+10It was a good movie, but don't expect it to have a huge plot twist or anything fancy. It was enjoyable to watch, but most of the action and jokes were shown in the trailers.
- mablung, on 05/03/2008, -0/+4eh not really.
- Balks, on 05/03/2008, -1/+9What are you talking about? The movie had loads more humor than the ads. I liked how Marvel handled this movie and didn't go the hollywood route with trying to turn it into an action movie with an ass load of drama.
- LemmingJesus, on 05/03/2008, -5/+1The only time I heard anyone laugh was when the lines from the trailers were said. I can't remember any outstanding quotes that weren't in the trailers. I wish I hadn't seen the trailers, two of the three scenes of him kicking ass were shown.

- dubloe7, on 05/03/2008, -3/+6imdb says 8.3, which puts it somewhere between 75 and 100 in the best movies of all time. and i don't see a superhero movie rated better than that since batman begins is at 103 with a rating of 8.2.
- Iamthechamp, on 05/03/2008, -0/+7Rating are always high the first few weeks after the release on IMDB, it will come down.
- NathanielJ, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3The 8.3 you're referencing for Iron Man is unweighted, the 8.2 you cited for Batman Begins is weighted. Batman Begins has an 8.3 unweighted (based on over 50 times as many votes as Iron Man).
Iron Man will be in the Top 250 for a few weeks but by the end of the year it will slip to the bottom or off the list. It's the way IMDb works - movies always start about 0.3 or 0.4 higher than they end up.

better check this out soon.. - tattertech, on 05/03/2008, -0/+9Here's the problem, I'm psyched to see this - won't go until the kiddies are out of the theaters sunday evening, but Rotten Tomatoes isn't a good gauge per se of "best reviewed" movie. It means that it's the movie with the most POSITIVE reviews, but not the best reviews. You can have 100+ reviews that all say the movie is enjoyable but not great, and it'll be rated highly on RT. However another movie could have a whole bunch of stellar reviews, and a handful of bad ones (or even just slightly negative reviews) and come out at a lower percentage.
- NathanielJ, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Yep, this is known as the "Toy Story 2" effect: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/toy_story_2/
Don't get me wrong, I love that movie, but it's not even the best Pixar movie (that honour goes to Finding Nemo). - goochie, on 05/03/2008, -0/+3I think that's why they also tell you "Average Rating" of the movie.
Or you can simply switch to Metacritic. - CannedMango, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Yup... this movie isn't being hailed as the single greatest comic book movie ever, but it's definitely in the top 5.

I saw it today. Easily better than either of the first two Spider-man films. Neck and neck with Batman Begins.- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1And about 1000 times better than the third Spider-man because it was terrible. I thought it was better than Batman Begins too.
- ModernTenshi, on 05/03/2008, -1/+5Saw it last night and I agree it's fantastic, though for me it's on par with Spider-Man 2.
It was a great night, though. I work for my local theater, and we brought in a local business that let's you go in and play the latest games on huge TV's and screens up to 100 inches. We setup a 360 in the booth for the UltraScreen and let people play the Iron Man game demo for the few hours leading up to midnight (though we also had 8PM and 10PM showings). It was hilarious watching people try to figure out the controls, and most of them switching the flight controls between standard and inverted y.
But yeah, go check this movie out. A MUCH better start to this summer movie season than last year's Spider-Man 3, and it looks to only get better. - MagicSG1, on 05/03/2008, -1/+6I saw it today, its amazing, so funny, Robert Downey Jr is a genius

- averagejoesgym, on 05/03/2008, -0/+0I said, "I'm kinda unique. I thought Spiderman 3 was the best one." I know that fans don't generally like the 3rd installment. I do, however, think it is excellent. I'm a big fan of Thomas-Hayden Church, and he did a fine job. Venom was a bit cheesy and some of the scenes concerning Peter's personality transformation were cheesy. However, I think it really captured the early Spidey sense of real sacrifice and friendship. So, my little exclamation point happy friend, that's my opinion. I know that keeping with the herd is important to you; but, it is not necessary for me.

- widgetmaker, on 05/03/2008, -9/+3It's a good, run of the mill, superhero film, Well acted, well directed, good cgi, just don't expect a decent plot and/or to be challenged and made to think.
- SsbFalcon, on 05/03/2008, -0/+9Why does everyone think every movie has to be a deep and intellectual one? If you just spent the past 5 months or so working your ass off in university classes then you know the value of lightening up once in a while...
- widgetmaker, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I don't, just because I stated it isn't deep doesn't mean it i always want a movie to be so, that's why you it is possible to like both transpormers or superhero films and still like hard candy and lives of others.

- jfg84, on 05/03/2008, -6/+0Metacritic has it at 78 which is still the third best movie in theaters right now but a score that can be beat and that seems about right. 94 percent seems way to high for a superhero movie and makes me question rottentomatoes scoring rules.
- morphinapg, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1their tomato meter scoring is the percentage of positive reviews, not the average percentage. they have the average rating at 7.6/10
- cufford, on 05/03/2008, -8/+1Of course movie "reviews" are meaningless. Some of the best reviewed movies of all time have been box office flops, and vice versa. All that matters is what you think of a movie, not what someone else thinks. Listen, everyone is a critic, and so-called "critics" have no monopoly on knowing what's good or bad, because that is totally subjective and only one person's opinion - one that a majority of others often disagree with. Movie reviews are some of the most irrelevant, subjective expressions of personal opinion around. Typically, just the personal opinion of some arrogant, egotistic person who could never do what the people who actually make movies do, yet present themselves as some sort of experts on all matters involved. I can see Scott Hamilton critiquing a figure skaters performance. He's been one...a world and Olympic champion, and has thus has credible expert stance in his opinion. But some loser with a blog or other media outlet who has never been a director, or an actor, or a producer, telling you that some other director, or actor or producer has done a good of bad job...well, it's just utterly without credibility. Nothing but one person's subjective opinion. Who cares if you like or don't like a movie. That doesn't mean that I will, or won't enjoy it. Movie critics are in large part the most artificially credible people on the planet, and virtually none of them could ever do half as good at making a movie or acting in one that that criticize other real professionals for doing.

- NathanielJ, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2"Some of the best reviewed movies of all time have been box office flops, and vice versa."
Er... yeah, so? Are you proposing that box office is what determines whether or not a movie is "good"?
As for the rest of your rant which goes on and on about how critics just give their opinion and it doesn't tell you whether or not you will like the movie: yeah, duh. That's what reviews are -- people letting others know whether or not they liked the movie, and why they did or did not. You don't need to have been a director/actor/whatever to be "qualified" to tell others whether or not you enjoyed a movie.
Get over yourself.- cufford, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1Totally missed the point!

- dedkittens, on 05/03/2008, -2/+9I dont know, iron man was REALLY sick
- Varz, on 05/03/2008, -2/+5We'll see, Iron Man is definitely better than Batman Begins and Batman Begins was great. The Dark Knight will have to be f*cking absolutely amazing to top Iron Man.
- Blueshrike, on 05/03/2008, -0/+1I came to the theater with the thought that Batman Begins was the best superhero movie ever made. I had hopes for Iron Man but it really didn't go farther than that. It exceeded them by a mile, and I came out of the theater just very glad to have seen that. However, I'd put it just a snitch down from Batman Begins in a way that's like Empire to A New Hope.
- Bertitude, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3Ohhh I wait with baited breath. I compared this to Batman Begins and I must say...that movie already set a high bar for the sequel to overcome. The quality of this movie has raised that bar again. not because it is better but because it is so good and so fresh in our minds. This summer is of to one hell of a start.

- PixelMagic, on 05/03/2008, -9/+3I saw Ironman last night, and it was indeed a good movie. However, it wasn't FANTASTIC as everyone is going on and on about. I enjoyed Transformers last year much more than Ironman.
- Defuser, on 05/03/2008, -4/+5...you're kind of an idiot then, aren't you? Transformers was complete garbage.
- bignerd, on 05/03/2008, -4/+3SPOILER(Well Kinda!)
I agree. I think Transformers was better(even with all of it's inaccuracies). I also think this was only a good movie. I can almost guarantee that Iron Man 2 or The Avengers will be better then this movie b/c Iron Man's history has been explained and that was 3 quarters of the movie (kinda how Spidey 2 was better then the 1st). Anyhow, I definitely recommend this movie to EVERYONE, but I believe "Best Superhero Movie of All-time" is a bit of a stretch!- dedkittens, on 05/03/2008, -2/+3Spidey 1 was better then spidey 2?
- sephiroth965, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2Yes.

- Aidje, on 05/03/2008, -1/+3I did not like Transformers at all. As for Iron Man, it is now my favorite superhero movie, despite that fact that I wouldn't have even seen it if not for my friend who was very excited about it. Anyway, this comment is pointless, because it consists of nothing more than my own opinion.
- Bertitude, on 05/03/2008, -1/+2I don't know. Transformers was really good but maybe it's because I'm not as engrossed in that universe (or it isn't as engrossing) as I am in Marvel/Iron Man that it didn't have the impact of this movie.

- juneaudigger, on 05/03/2008, -1/+1Err...Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I personally found Transformers lacking, and this is coming from a fan of the franchise (not hardcore, but I am quite familiar with the Transformer universe).
On the other hand, I absolutely loved Iron Man. If The Dark Knight is going to be better than Iron Man, then we're definitely in for a treat, because IM itself was a well-made and enjoyable film.
