Iron Man: Heavy Suit, Light Touches
movies.nytimes.com — The world at the moment does not suffer from a shortage of superheroes. And yet in some ways the glut of anti-evil crusaders with cool costumes and troubled souls takes the pressure off of “Iron Man,” which clanks into theaters today ahead of Hellboy, Batman and the Incredible Hulk.

- Slvrgun, on 05/04/2008, -7/+14Great movie. Watched it the other day. Downey jr did an awesome job playing Tony Starks. Can't wait for the DVD, Blu-Ray release.
- HappyScrappy, on 05/04/2008, -0/+4You mean Tony Stark.
Tony Starks is a rapper.
- HappyScrappy, on 05/04/2008, -0/+4You mean Tony Stark.
- itsgotyou, on 05/04/2008, -5/+2Success! Bob's your uncle. The point is that you know what's going to happen, but you actually want to know how it's going to happen. Sort of like the journey and destination quote about happiness or something like that.
- merr, on 05/04/2008, -0/+38For those who haven't seen it yet, stay until the end of the credits.
- d4rken3rgy, on 05/04/2008, -3/+1better listen to the man..if you dont wish to end up paying more bucks just to watch the end clip..

- nightsky07, on 05/04/2008, -1/+9Great movie! Not the Batman killer I was hoping but still good. Wished I stayed for the end credits but I'm seeing it again.
- ceredron, on 05/04/2008, -4/+1Uh, why would you want a Batman killer. The current Christian Bale Batman series looks and is really, really great... why would you want that to not do well? He's doing a service to Batman.
- GregorCZ, on 05/04/2008, -2/+1No he's not saying he hopes the Batman movies get worse, he's saying he was hoping Iron Man to be better than Batman movies. They're both still good though. Way to see the glass half full there, ceredron..

- Mokosou, on 05/04/2008, -0/+8Thanks for the spoiler alert.
- steveoco, on 05/04/2008, -0/+5Just came back from seeing it, awesome flick... the attention to detail and cgi was unreal. Good to see there are directors out there with a honest love for the genre.
- a1cd, on 05/04/2008, -6/+0Iron man is the new Ron Paul of Digg
- MadOgre, on 05/04/2008, -0/+15Iron Man rocked to a shockingly high degree. I went in with zero expectations, came away an Iron Man fan, Robert Downey Jr fan, and a Jeff Bridges - a long way from The Dude - fan.
Oh, and I'm looking forward to Hell Boy. The new Hulk looks good... and the trailer to the new Indy movie? Awesome.- inverselogic, on 05/04/2008, -9/+0Indy movie....you mean Speed Racer?
- TheKeithD, on 05/04/2008, -0/+4...well, you've certainly raised the bar for failure.
By the way, I think he means Indiana Jones IV, the movie that will cause a mass riot across the world if it tanks.

- xero7, on 05/04/2008, -0/+7I saw Iron Man on Thursday. It was ***** awesome.
- nycmac247, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2dugg - very zen
- HappyScrappy, on 05/04/2008, -3/+2I saw Iron Man on Saturday. It was very good, well deserving of the reviews.
But the theater was empty. That's unfortunate. It appears it didn't generate the level of interest that other, worse, movies have generated.- Matri, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1Or, maybe, everyone's too busy playing GTA 4 to bother with the unimportant stuff, like eating, sleeping, going out...?
- nycmac247, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1I am going to see a "digital presentation" on Wednesday - wonder if it will be higher def????
- ZenMojo, on 05/04/2008, -2/+1Wait, all villains are bald in Superhero movies? Let's see, Spider-Man 1-3...hm, all 6 villains had hair. Batman movies? Oh, right, every villain in every movie had hair except for Mr. Freeze. Punisher? Oh, right, they all had hair. X-Men 1-3? Uh, Professor Xavier was a hero (despite being kind of a douche). This rule applies unusually to Daredevil, but out of the last 20 villains in superhero films I can think of only 4 are bald and two were in the same movie. This was just an unnecessary attempt at being clever with spoilers.
- AmusedToDeath, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Well, in Iron Man there are two villains - one major, one minor. Both are bald. So the maxim holds true in this film anyway.
- Matri, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1You left out Luthor.
- screwfanboys1, on 05/04/2008, -5/+2can somebody please explain to me how the hell he is hanging on to that ledge at the end when his suit probably ways about 400lbs??
- getrealnow, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2balls of iron
- AmusedToDeath, on 05/04/2008, -0/+6The super-grip provided by the suit? You're thinking about it too much - this is a comic book movie.
- shadeOfGrey, on 05/04/2008, -0/+1Yeah, he may have taken off one robo glove but his other arm was still intact.
- twigboy, on 05/04/2008, -0/+2i still dont get why he wasnt killed but the other guy was
- TYDZN, on 05/05/2008, -0/+1So who would confuse Iron Man with the Man of Steel?
