- marvinmatthew, on 10/20/2007, -15/+183Actually, go look at the Pirate Bay's most popularly seeded movies at the moment:
http://thepiratebay.org/brwsearch.php?c=201&d=0&orderby=&page=0&orderby=se
You can see that he has about the fifteen most popular rips.
I am however amazed that this guy has the balls to do an interview (Props go out to him for doing it). It seems like he is probably on the MPAA's Top Ten Most Wanted List. And since he lives in the US, he runs an even bigger risk for doing what he's doing. - asif5th, on 10/20/2007, -22/+178This guy is awesome, all his Rips are perfect.
- OutThisLife, on 10/20/2007, -15/+150I love aXXo.
- D3koy, on 10/20/2007, -3/+122It is actually Steven Spielberg....
- random19, on 10/20/2007, -21/+138yeah if you don't know who axxo is, you don't pirate enough movies. I always look for his releases.
- oOLiquidNightOo, on 10/20/2007, -7/+91actually, if you want "very good" resolution with reasonable file sizes, you can't beat aXXo.
under a gig is ideal for me. I just wanna watch the movie, if i'm into the movie enough to want flawless video, i buy the dvd. - dtrinh, on 10/20/2007, -4/+77@kingkilr:
..and how'd you get that impression? If anything, when I was reading this, the interviewer seemed like an ass.
"TorrentFreak: Where do you get the movies, and do you use scene releases as well?
aXXo: …"
First off, asking "where do you get the movies" is poor taste, if not retarded. Then asking, "do you use scene releases as well?" is like spitting in his face .. asking him if he repacks other releases as his own. Common sense, the interviewer was just posing some pretty stupid questions. - GoldYoshi, on 10/20/2007, -15/+77I love you aXXo! I'm just wondering...where the crap does he get the dvds before they're released...
- spudnic, on 10/20/2007, -4/+65Why would I Bother downloading a 4gig DVD image when I could download 5 or 6 700meg .avi films in the same amount of time? The image quality on releases like his is fine for me.
I usually look for a film, download it, and watch it the same night, you can't reasonably expect to do that with 4 gig files. - DurkaMcDurk, on 10/20/2007, -8/+64you said noob... you're so down with the "scene" aren't you?! OMG I WANT TO BE JUST LIKE YOU
- Miggab, on 10/12/2007, -19/+73The guy is a legend. Whether his rips are re-encodes of old releases or not. You cannot deny the quality of his work. Give props where it is due.
- jerryparid, on 10/20/2007, -3/+52Agree 100%, but I have to give aXXo props for high quality encodes of 2CD rips into 700 mb public torrent friendly format.
Noone beats DIAMOND at DVDRIP; noone beats maVen at TS/TC. - arpnuke, on 10/20/2007, -5/+54It's pretty funny that some bit torrent releaser is seen as a savior when there are big name groups out there. Congrats to the kid for being able to encode properly, but I'll start paying attention when he wins release races.
XViDs aren't just for people as you described. Why keep a pile of DVDRs when you can keep loads of movies on the hard drive that have been encoded down? With stuff like XBMC its so much easier to keep dvdrips on multimedia setups than swap dvds every time you want to watch a different film. - scabbers, on 10/20/2007, -3/+43@ arpnuke: He's obviously more interested in sharing the warez than getting "super eleet sk3n3 cred" for 0 day 4gb telesyncs
- seanfrank, on 10/12/2007, -4/+43What does everyone have against Xvid? Works great for me: I'm just watching it on my laptop. Every aXXo release I've ever seen has been the best quality I would expect from a 700MB file. Quit discouraging the man from doing a good thing. If Xvid sucks so much, what's superior and about the same size?
- knightblade2oo4, on 10/20/2007, -4/+40he knows somebody that knows somebody that knows something 'bout it.
- inactive, on 10/20/2007, -21/+55For those of you who are saying he's not that popular, go to isohunt, and look at the top 20 searches.
- scabbers, on 10/20/2007, -3/+34http://thepiratebay.org/user/aXXo
You have to give him props for sheer number of movies uploaded, if nothing else. - kwazyJAS, on 10/12/2007, -4/+35"I want to take aXXo behind the middle school and get him pregnant."
- SurlyDuff, on 10/12/2007, -0/+26lol xvid works fine on vista...I don't know what this guy's talking about.
- Ngai, on 10/20/2007, -5/+29he "knows" some people :)...
he's got that hookup... - squirrelza, on 10/20/2007, -3/+26Well wasn't that interview informing.... not.
- naonao, on 10/12/2007, -0/+22I do like aXXo, but lets not forget the old school release groups like DiAMOND and Centropy. Ahh Centropy, good intros on the old SVCD's back in the day...
But in my opinion, the best release group, out of any release group ever, is Paradox. Those guys are just the coolest. But yay for aXXo, hope the MPAA don't get ya! - LeBlue, on 10/20/2007, -1/+23haha...
In the interview, someone left a comment and said: "He's the new Robin Hood" - pangea, on 10/20/2007, -0/+22What a terrible interview.
- spunquik, on 10/20/2007, -5/+22i went out and bought a DVD/Divx player for my tv,
you can fit up to 6 of axxo's movies on one DVD,
its the best thing ever! - WaterDragon, on 10/20/2007, -1/+18@marvinmatthew
"It seems like he is probably on the MPAA's Top Ten Most Wanted List. And since he lives in the US, he runs an even bigger risk for doing what he's doing."
I don't think he necessarily lives in the US, just because it is claimed in that interview.
I would think the real aXXo, if he lived in some other country, might say he lived in the US just to f**k with the MPAA! lol
One good piece of advise I read recently is to see who uploaded a torrent, before downloading it.
The real aXXo registered his name, at least on TPB, so if one of their torrents says it was uploaded by him, it really was. - misterhektik, on 10/12/2007, -11/+27random19
"yeah if you don't know who axxo is, you don't pirate enough movies. I always look for his releases."
Not everyone likes dvdrips. Some (me) prefer downloading dvdrs off of NG from groups like REPLiCA. - jeriqo, on 10/20/2007, -19/+35You guys really need to get out more.
He's not a god, he's just... ripping... DVDs.. you know, like, clicking 1 button in an application. - Muyoso, on 10/20/2007, -1/+16I have a 30 Mbit connection, and I NEVER download 4 gig DVDR releases. The quality difference is just not large enough nor important enough. Like most people, I watch it on a television, non-HD, so the difference between the DVD-SCR and the DVDR is not noticable. For audio, yes there is a difference sometimes, but very few movies warrant the downloading of the extra 3 gigs of data for SLIGHTLY better sound. Downloading the DVDR is for people who either have very nice theatre setups in their homes, with GIGANTIC hard drives or LARGE amounts of DVD-R discs or those who feel that there is a true difference in quality which 99% of the people would never be able to point out.
- macguy815, on 10/20/2007, -1/+13Ha poor guy, he's wanted so much by the MPAA, that he must live in a state of paranoia on the internet. Probably uses a proxy just to check gmail.
- nicroma, on 10/12/2007, -0/+12PARADOX = Mess with the Best, Die like the Rest!
- dchaosdx, on 10/20/2007, -0/+11i like xvid because i can download it quickly, watch it on my computer, delete it, and i didn't waste a dvd-r or a trip to the video store.
- EvilFerret, on 10/20/2007, -3/+14***** he actually lives in the US? This guy has balls. I upload/seed torrents on a regular basis, but I would never want to get popular. I hope he's a lawyer (Not the self-proclaimed kind).
- dchaosdx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11i heart axxo. he filled my 750gb seagate hdd with happiness and rainbows!
- totallymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10@waterdragon
Man I remember being 15 and reading 1984 and watching Fight Club.
Fun times. - inactive, on 10/20/2007, -2/+12If you like the movie, why don't you try to buy it?
I'm not saying buy all the movies you like, but buy some on DVD. I mean, when people say that piracy hurts sales we all say "Well, I download before I buy." - beta1, on 10/20/2007, -1/+11Yea, I just found axxo recently. Before I found axxo I didn't DL too many movies but since finding him its been at least 3-4 a week. Thats how good and small his rips are. Great kid doing it for the right reasons.
- ggarenn, on 10/12/2007, -6/+15@ waterdragon
STFU
stands for Shut The ***** Up
how's that for NEW-SPEAK? - bennyboy371, on 10/20/2007, -1/+10Alot of you on the negative side make absolutely no sense. DVDrips are for people who just want to see the movie and the quality is plenty good enough for that. I don't care if he uses a retail DVD or a pirated DVDr as source because... well, aren't you aiming for good quality with your DVDrs? It sounds like a good enough source to me. I just want to see the movie, he's popular for that, and he's good at it. When people complain about whether or not aXXo is a REAL release group from the scene... I just wonder... why do you care?
Also, why would the MPAA go after aXXo now more than ever? The releases are always the most downloaded, I've heard of some people who wait for aXXo releases. I'm pretty sure they were after him before he spoke to TorrentFreak. Oh, and this wasn't much of an interview, the few questions asked really, really were bad. - nogChoco, on 10/20/2007, -2/+10@ jaymoon:
If you look at the sizes of his movies and the quality he manages to achieve, then you know that it's not done by a simple 1-click application like AutoGK. In fact, good luck to anyone trying to fit a 2Hr+ movie into a 700MB file with whatever encoding program, and preserving the quality that aXXo manages to get. - WaterDragon, on 10/20/2007, -0/+8All we actually know is that some interview claimed he lives in the US, and you believed it.
Those are the actual facts! - xxNIRVANAxx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+9He uploaded 2 movies, just today!
- nurall, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9just another fan of his work chiming in, good combo of filesize and video quality.
i always chose his torrent because of this, (and for the movie companys) after i watch his download i'll buy the dvd if the movie is worth keeping. - jackyyll, on 10/20/2007, -0/+7I love how so many people compare aXXo to "scenes". aXXo is responsible for many many torrents, and he does it all basically alone. While scenes are groups of many people just using a tag.
I wonder if aXXo is on IRC anywhere.. He must be.. - whistlerpro, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8Don't ya mean BURIED?
- Undiculous, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9I don't know what the deal is - Whether or not he gets the original rip, he gets it up fast and reliably. His torrents are spread everyone where and I've never heard of anyone being tracked on them. They're solid and exactly what they say they are every time, and for the community it caters to, that's really all that you would want to ask.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6i want aXXo to have my babies...a little ambitious you may ask?..NO, no its not
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6You're the man aXXo, keep up the good work.
- WaterDragon, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9"What does everyone have against Xvid? "
It's called CODEC snobbery! LMAO -
