- ThinkBox, on 06/29/2008, -8/+111I saw The Happening, it was absolutely horrible. They got the title of this article right - it was 100X more honest. But even this trim down was boring as hell.
This reads like a summary of the movie. The movie sucks. Reading the summary just reminded me of how painful the movie was. - mroffroad, on 06/29/2008, -5/+105I think we can all agree that the TRAILERS for his movies are actually more entertaining that the ACTUAL movie.
- SarahSue, on 06/28/2008, -9/+102This article is proof that M. Knight should be doing 3 minute made-for-internet videos instead of feature length films.
- 0xbaadf00d, on 06/29/2008, -1/+86What a twist!
- j0kerz, on 06/29/2008, -2/+76Turns out the plants were making people crazy in the movie... there... i saved you 2 boobless hours...
- WriterSD, on 06/29/2008, -4/+68It's funny because it's completely true.
Sigh. What happened to the man who brought us Sixth Sense? :-( - antonio97b, on 06/29/2008, -0/+55I was expecting a twist. Everyone said it was plants 20 minutes in. So I was expecting something else.
and I got the twist.
The twist is there is no twist! Hotdog eating man was right. - punkcat, on 06/29/2008, -3/+57spoiler.
guy in movie: "i bet the plants are killing us."
me: "oh yeah right, cant wait for the twist that pulls this movie out for recovery."
end of movie: it was the plants.
me: oh god damn *****. - sonar1, on 06/29/2008, -0/+50but this time its R RATED!!
- ZurMacht, on 06/29/2008, -2/+48"I wasn't talking to you, you cum-guzzling *****." Dugg.
- snowbones, on 06/29/2008, -0/+43wtf! Zooey Deschanel is HOT

- mrhuhk, on 06/29/2008, -2/+41The opposite of an Oscar is a Razzie.
- jascination, on 06/29/2008, -1/+39Dugg for the Mortal Kombat reference.
- antonio97b, on 06/29/2008, -5/+39and Unbreakable.
- rolf, on 06/29/2008, -2/+35Doesn't that go for about 90% of movies these days? I mean, that is the job of a trailer.
- Phyraxus, on 06/29/2008, -1/+32Actually, he is a good director, but he needs to get someone else to write for him.
- snowbones, on 06/29/2008, -3/+33R for Retarded
- ThinkBox, on 06/29/2008, -2/+27guy in movie: "Plants look like they can tell the different between 15 people and 10 people! And they release a toxin if there are 15 of you!"
me: "this is bs, I hope they all die"
guy in movie: "Wow I guess it stopped for no reason, we are save"
me: *wild screaming expletives* - Phyraxus, on 06/29/2008, -2/+27I was like, no ***** way it's the plants, that's too damn easy, there has got to be some kind of crazy ***** twist... but to no avail.
- burnedtubes, on 06/29/2008, -0/+24Day of the Triffids..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_of_the_Triffids
I am just saying.... - NotOptium, on 06/29/2008, -1/+22It was written by....
A DEAD GUY!!
Surprise! - cap11235, on 06/29/2008, -0/+17Smuggle in some of your own food.
- MasterGrief, on 06/29/2008, -1/+16Ahh, the deadly NeuroToxin. Wait for it to warm up.
- alwaysdeparting, on 06/29/2008, -4/+19Or maybe its proof that he shouldn't be making anything on film at all?
- afx1, on 06/29/2008, -0/+15hmmm
- H4n90fThur5D4y5, on 06/29/2008, -4/+18I whole heartedly agree, banido. The Happening was very original. I even thought the character development was more realistic, less movie cliche. People are just way to used to recycled plots and recycled characters.
- JerzyBricklayr, on 06/29/2008, -3/+17Dugg for Robot Chicken reference.
- DaHuuuuuudge, on 06/29/2008, -1/+15The Village seems to get a lot of hate, but I really enjoyed that movie. Whatever. To each his own.
- inverselogic, on 06/29/2008, -0/+14Iron Man's trailer rocked, and so did Iron Man ;)
- MidnightRIder77, on 06/29/2008, -2/+15I wouldn't say that. The Sixth Sense is amazing and Unbreakable is good. Also Signs is decent. He has good ideas he just lost the ability to write a good story using them. The village could have been amazing but due to the bad writing turned out to be *****. He's a great director and comes up with great ideas, he just needs help with the story part.
- DeathGod321, on 06/29/2008, -3/+14The bees are going home.
- Pinkshisno, on 06/29/2008, -0/+11Yea it's not like it's Meet the Spartans...
- modifiedbears, on 06/29/2008, -2/+12I think the word we are looking for is execution. If you don't execute it properly, then
it doesn't matter how "interesting" your idea is. - ThinkBox, on 06/29/2008, -2/+12
I would give up 4 hours of my life to forget this movie.
How's that for a review.
This movie would have been more entertaining if I watched it backwards. - Rojahon, on 06/29/2008, -0/+10Dugg for the crack at Kirk Cameron.
- Puppyfam, on 06/29/2008, -0/+10Maybe you know something I don't, but IMDB credits M. Night as the writer: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0167404/
- sonar1, on 06/29/2008, -3/+13so it wasnt skynet, terrorism, or an army experiment. what a genius movie twist!
- Zaneris, on 06/29/2008, -2/+12So, you're like a retarded person then?
- MaTT2011, on 06/29/2008, -2/+11Yah, that cant be denied.
But when her hotness is in no way utilized and is engulfed in a script, dialog, imagery and characters that are COMPLETE ***** its hard for one to appreciate that hotness sufficiently enough to NOT want to kill oneself while watching the movie. - cdrz, on 06/29/2008, -2/+11A very weak b-movie. Unfortunately I was one of the suckers who shelled out $20 (entry/food) to catch it at the theater.
- H4n90fThur5D4y5, on 06/29/2008, -1/+9I second that, monkeychowuk. Power to The Happening fans!
...All two of us! - jasonlfunk, on 06/29/2008, -1/+9That was surprising accurate.
- PabloMac, on 06/29/2008, -1/+8Yeah, if there isn't an execution every 20 minutes or so in a movie, I get bored, too.
- joeydoo, on 06/29/2008, -0/+7The trim down was surprising boring.... I haven't seen the movie and previously had only read the smallest of snippets about this movie.... but I could have written that trim down.
I genuinely thought there would have been "something" more to know about the "happening"... I guess not.
What a turd, glad I won't accidentally watch it now.
Just in the off chance that M. Night reads this comment (going by the quality of writing on some of the digg comments that's entirely possible).... I wouldn't even steal this movie, it's worth less than nothing. - sonnybobiche, on 06/29/2008, -1/+8Oh M Night, what has't thou done? You showed so much promise with your first three films. The Sixth Sense was an instant classic. Unbreakable showed us that you weren't just about suspense, and that you could be playful. Signs was a masterpiece in the world-is-about-to-end suspense genre.
Then you lost it.
I don't know what happened, but you really lost touch with your audience. It's as if you don't actually read through your scripts anymore! The Village was branded as a suspense story when it just wasn't. It wasn't even remotely clever, either. Lady in the Water was an incoherent jumble of mythology. Thank God it had a saving grace in its acting and ending.
And now this. Plodding, shoddy acting. Stilted dialogue. (From the man who wrote Mel Gibson and Joaquin Phoenix's "What Kind of Person are You" dialogue!) Broken plot. Mystery solved halfway into the story. Undeveloped red herrings. (What about the bees?) Anticlimactic and unsatisfying ending. (It must have just gone away by itself!)
Get your head straight, or I will stop calling myself a fan. - BlindingEdge, on 06/29/2008, -0/+6says who?
- MidnightRIder77, on 06/29/2008, -0/+6If I didn't see the movie am I supposed to digg you down?
- MarrowMan, on 06/29/2008, -4/+9Well now that Shyamalan has virtually hit rock bottom with 2 or 3 flops, hopefully this will encourage him to take some night time creative writing courses. I really hope his next foray isn't as lame and god damnit, The Happening was just ***** boring.
- GoldYoshi, on 06/29/2008, -1/+6This is why I just download the movie first, then see it in a theater a second time. If it's good enough, it's worth paying to see it in theaters.
