http://diablo2003.deviantart.com/art/Bladerunner-T ... - s0m31john, on 01/10/2009, -17/+209Look beyond ***** shows like Naruto and you will find anime that is well written and coherent.
- Llanowar, on 01/10/2009, -3/+113Of course there are tons of different anime styles. But still, this hardly looks like anime to me. More like some regular US cartoon.
Edit: Which the actual artist comments on his Deviantart page. He simply states animation/cartoon. - Dumbledorito, on 01/09/2009, -77/+179If only anime was at least half as coherent and well-written as "Blade Runner."
- deathBOB, on 01/10/2009, -8/+98It's too brightly lit. Blade runner was a very dark movie.
- SniperZero, on 01/10/2009, -4/+91maybe he is a legit photoshop user and doesn't have the cash to upgrade?
- alexforcefive, on 01/10/2009, -3/+86Try ghost in the shell, it basically looks like this and it's AWESOME
- colasrtney, on 01/10/2009, -5/+77I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I've watched C-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in the rain. Time to die.
- dronesixtyten, on 01/10/2009, -3/+66Ever since I first saw Blade Runner, it's been my dream for an asian chef to turn to me and say... "You Brade Runna!"
- maley, on 01/10/2009, -2/+61Cowboy Bebop, probably has the best dubs too.
- Renton, on 01/10/2009, -5/+60Death Note
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Paranoia Agent
Akira
Trigun
Appleseed
Like the guy above me said, avoid the crap like Naruto, or even worse, Bobobo bobo... whatever the *****. Good for a few laughs though. - inactive, on 01/10/2009, -16/+61Dude, update Photoshop.
- Tonicks, on 01/10/2009, -0/+38and now the dream has been passed to me.
- JFallon126, on 01/10/2009, -3/+38You could just watch Cowboy Bebop. The one of few animes that deserve the title "art".
- LexWalk, on 01/09/2009, -5/+40Blade Runner is one of those pieces that doesn't need translation. Translation may be fun to look at, but it can never really be considered anything but a downgrade. But this still looks sharp. Nice.
- Phyltre, on 01/10/2009, -1/+35Referring to anime en masse is like referring to Blade Runner as "movies."
- Beautyon, on 01/10/2009, -1/+33Actually, it looks exactly like this:

Isn't the subjunctive mood fun? - Jaysunli, on 01/10/2009, -2/+32I'm on the Internet. I hate Naruto. I like Good Anime. AM I COOL YET
Christ.
Nice picture but not anime at all. - ncapone, on 01/10/2009, -4/+30Nice pic, but no.
- copypastry, on 01/10/2009, -2/+27I can't believe someone dugg you down for Roy's final speech.
- ZeroCubed, on 01/10/2009, -15/+40Actually, Naruto is a well written manga - it's the anime that's a torture to watch.
Anime/Manga rule of thumb - if the show is bad, read the manga, it's bound to be ten times better.
some Anime/manga that follow this rule: Naruto, Death Note, .hack//, Full Metal Alchemist, D.Gray man, Ouran High Host Club, Hikaru no Go, Pokemon (it's surprisingly very violent), Gokusen
Anime/manga that don't follow (they're both just bad): Bleach, One Piece, Prince of Tennis, Bobobobobobo, Yu Gi Oh, - smartpatrol, on 01/10/2009, -2/+24Came here to say this. I'd like to know why people thought this was anime when the characters look NOTHING like anime-style characters.
- fearlessfx, on 01/10/2009, -2/+23These are some very poor comments.
- Wawin, on 01/10/2009, -2/+23Indeed he did, doing the large eyes and body proportions based off the Disney standard character. However the whole cyberpunk aesthetic was practically made by Bladerunner, a look which to this day continues to inspire futuristic animes.
- steviesteveo, on 01/10/2009, -1/+21Does he actually have to?
If he waits until everyone else who's putting funny heads onto cats with the latest version catch up to his standard then he can upgrade. It's a good show of how the older versions aren't defunct just because they've been replaced.
I was a long term Photoshop 7 user just because it worked and the newer features just weren't necessary for me. I actually only upgraded to get a version that would support my new camera's RAW format. - gincarnated, on 01/10/2009, -4/+24There's a lot of brilliant anime out there.
Monster, Lain, Planetes, GitS, Mushishi, Baccano, etc. - sayer, on 01/10/2009, -4/+23
... you call me dude one more time ... - ZeroCubed, on 01/10/2009, -0/+19Hey hey don't forget Ghost in the Shell, Voices of a Distant Star, Princess Mononoke and a dozen others.
- SniperZero, on 01/10/2009, -4/+23@ZeroCubed
Death note was pretty good compared to the manga there were only really a few small changes. (Japanese languaged versions no idea about translated/dubbed ones) - johnkyoungoh, on 01/10/2009, -17/+35What's funny is that this anime portrayal of Blade Runner looks horribly generic and bland because so much of anime steals their aesthetic from Blade Runner.
- Twinnie, on 01/10/2009, -7/+24Thank God it's not.
- glaz, on 01/10/2009, -14/+31Anime falls over itself to reach the levels that Blade Runner did.
- wutimatang, on 01/10/2009, -0/+17I say too bright, and way too clean. Blade Runner was a gritty place.
- nllx, on 01/10/2009, -1/+17Nice of you to also link to the page. Not many people on dA get the recognition they deserve on here by just hotlinking the image.
- zenthax, on 01/10/2009, -3/+19try Neon Genesis Evangelion
- colasrtney, on 01/10/2009, -2/+17I don't know why he saved my life. Maybe in those last moments he loved life more than he ever had before. Not just his life, anybody's life, my life. All he'd wanted were the same answers the rest of us want. Where did I come from? Where am I going? How long have I got? All I could do was sit there and watch him die.
- DownkeyKowng, on 01/10/2009, -1/+15..it would look like generic Nickelodeon "anime"?
- dronesixtyten, on 01/10/2009, -0/+14Nerdgasm
- Syugo, on 01/10/2009, -1/+14Aww, I really liked the OP anime. Another tip: Don't watch dubs. They leave out a lot of story.
- ZeroCubed, on 01/10/2009, -3/+15Actually...Osamu Tezuka (granddad of all anime and manga) based his style off Disney - and it evolved from there.
And Anime was around before Blade Runner. - alpharaptor, on 01/10/2009, -1/+13it's western anime
- inkswamp, on 01/10/2009, -1/+13Digg really needs an age 13 and over posting rule.
- drgmdp, on 01/10/2009, -2/+13what about evangelion? that ***** my mind when i was 18...
- dougbot, on 07/14/2009, -0/+10Have Dr. Chew upgrade your eyes, replicant.
- WombleSlayer, on 01/10/2009, -2/+12Picking an awful anime to 'prove' your point?
Because all movies are art, written to the hgihest possible standards:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhIdwaxxUTQ - vaguilera, on 01/10/2009, -4/+14?
- WombleSlayer, on 01/10/2009, -2/+12Believe that if you want, but take a look at Akira, the peak of cyberpunk manga.
Both a similar setting, and they came out in the same year, but don't forget that they were probably created with no knowledge of each other. - Rawclyce, on 01/10/2009, -0/+9Dugg down for proper use of subjunctive.
- paulwind, on 01/10/2009, -4/+13That's not anime.
