I love that people continue to get sucked in by this. - tweedius, on 11/01/2008, -1/+35The first thing that came to my mind about this is the fact that people are going to torrent the hell out of this now that it's on digg. The next movie he's going to make is BitTorrent - The Movie Downloading Scam.
- NexTRaker, on 10/31/2008, -1/+32I remember I had an Email that I literally had to close because I was getting some much trash email, Most them Came from Africa and their poor English gave them away. Most of them Came from the Ivory Coast. Anyways this film is great, sorta like a warning
- chaoswings, on 11/01/2008, -0/+21First time I have EVER heard anyone say that on Digg. It will probably be the last.
- alsiddiq, on 11/01/2008, -2/+18You would think that the Nigerians would figure out that we've caught on to their idiocy.
- tattertech, on 11/01/2008, -1/+15No sorry. It's still funny.
- artwithbyte, on 11/01/2008, -0/+13For a second I thought the title said "...threatening massages!" It made me wonder how you could massage someone in a threatening way. Using a cattle prod, maybe? Or ninja climbing hooks strapped to your hands? There are many ways I guess.
- inactive, on 11/01/2008, -0/+13Lots of fish in the ocean...
- Chubakkaz, on 11/01/2008, -2/+14You're gonna screw the indie film maker too, man? Come on.
- inactive, on 11/01/2008, -0/+11Financial Darwinism?
Those too stupid to have money lose it? - elmuerte17, on 11/01/2008, -0/+10I think Your guide to capitalization Came in the Mail from a second-Grader.
- tattertech, on 11/01/2008, -0/+9A fool and his money are soon parted.
- inactive, on 11/01/2008, -0/+9At least he's not taking those threats too seriously.
- Sambora, on 11/01/2008, -0/+8Reminds me of College Humor's "Gwammi Mufasta" : http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1710265
Except it is the exact opposite of this movie. - brandom741, on 10/31/2008, -0/+8thanks for the website.
- username9000, on 11/01/2008, -1/+9anything to boost the movie section of digg. dugg.
- AreTooDeTo, on 11/01/2008, -0/+8the scam can get pretty intensive, actually. i got an email on my college account about a scholarship given to a few thousand people a year. i mean they provided a website that looked pretty legit and everything. it's not surprising that people fall for it every year. luckily i knew about the scam and i was even able to cross-check the email address with a list of email accounts relating to the scam. but the thing is, you have to be really careful.
- qwertyxuiop, on 11/01/2008, -2/+8I'm always kind of conflicted about these scams. First off, if you are foolish enough to fall for them and send a bunch of money to someone you have never met on the other side of the planet out of the greedy hopes of making a quick illegal buck... then ***** you, you get what you deserve.
At the same time it sucks to see someone get scammed
also, I enjoy the fact that these scammers are in poor counties in Africa that have been the victim of European and American colonialism of all types... they are getting us back... I grudgingly respect that
at the same time I fully endorse those "scambaiter" guys for giving the scammers a taste of thier own medicine
I fully expect to be buried for this opinion - spepin, on 11/01/2008, -0/+6Speaking of Nigerian scam.

I thought this was pretty awesome. - ThermiteTerrace, on 11/01/2008, -1/+7I wonder how these scammers keep suckering people...from what I see at Ebolamonkeyman and 419eater, they keep getting absolutely ethered for the amusement of all around.

and the best...

- Killeroid, on 11/01/2008, -0/+6Actually, I think he is doing it right. That is how a nigerian spammer would type it as.
- FearMoth, on 11/01/2008, -2/+7Not everybody that Comes from Africa has poor English and sends some much trash Emails.
- IllBeBack, on 11/01/2008, -0/+5I've never actually seen one of these.
People fall for THAT?! Seriously?
Man, how depressing. - diplo, on 11/01/2008, -0/+5"It’s hard because the scam is been around for over 20 years, first with hard copy letters. Unfortunately now, with the Internet, the “market” is 10 times bigger."
Try an infinite number of times bigger, since you have to pay for stamps. - norcalscan, on 11/01/2008, -0/+4you had me until you used "their" properly
- TheSkunkMonkey, on 11/01/2008, -0/+4Fortunately P.T Barnum was right, there's a sucker born every minute, so these guys have a never ending supply of victims..
I'd like to officially update that phrase for the Information Age with: "On the Internet, there's a sucker born every second." - pattywack, on 11/01/2008, -0/+4It is very depressing. My mom works with the elderly in Washington State, and one woman there kept sending so many checks that her bank finally called the cops and reported what was going on. This woman actually thought that she was helping someone overseas and saw nothing wrong with giving away such large sums of money.
- norcalscan, on 11/01/2008, -0/+4The safety word tonight is "piano"
- Ismith988, on 11/01/2008, -0/+3where do I sign up?
- bushout, on 11/01/2008, -0/+3Listen to the "This American Life" story on people playing Nigerian scammers - it's _chilling_. They nearly killed one of them.
- LocalDocal, on 11/01/2008, -1/+4Hint: Not everyone is pirating movies for 'noble' reasons. Some just want free movies.
- mrmarsh1, on 11/01/2008, -0/+3Your daddy was gonna sell his car? You don't think that's funny?
- tyhen, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2I is a college student!
- elmuerte17, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2Sumo wrestler.
- Swipecat, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2Why no IMDB listing? I don't know what criteria they use for their listings, but I'd have thought that a film that's popular at festivals should be in there.
- mrmarsh1, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2This is the best line I've read in here.
- NewIdea, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2The guy made a award winning indie movie give him some credit. Try to buy it, it'll cost you 10 bucks at most.
- jgzman, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2I'm not at all sure that we have.
- Syraxis, on 11/01/2008, -1/+3"I go chop your dollar."
- Aitese, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2Yeah...THEIR idiocy...you know, because this guy decided to make a film about a scam that hardly ever works...oh wait.
- BoneheadFarker, on 11/01/2008, -0/+2Actually, the real ones have a lot more spelling and grammar mistakes. And yes, some people still fall for them...
- ladaki, on 11/05/2008, -0/+1yeah I agree. Then I'd have my name on IMDB for the VO
- prleet, on 11/01/2008, -1/+2Just nuke the damn country....and problem solved.
- migshark, on 11/01/2008, -0/+1You can actually save on entertainment costs by pirating everything and just getting a larger download quota. Every little bit helps to some people.
