- TGMD, on 06/20/2008, -12/+143Movie of the year?
I think Dark knight will have something to say about that! - seanmx, on 06/20/2008, -2/+73You cant call Movie of the Year in June. Thats like calling shotgun before you decide to go somewhere.
- xhikari, on 06/20/2008, -7/+67Yeah....wait for Dark Knight!
- diggality, on 06/19/2008, -0/+51This movie had it all, it even came with a secret surprise at the end of it!
- Lasereth, on 06/20/2008, -0/+45Worst, comma usage, ever.
- wendelgee2, on 06/20/2008, -3/+37Wait, this movie was "Robert Downey Jr. career-resuscitating"?
He's done so many good movies in the past 3 years it makes my brain melt:
# Tropic Thunder (2008) (completed) .... Kirk Lazarus
# The Incredible Hulk (2008) (uncredited) .... Tony Stark
# Iron Man (2008) .... Tony Stark / Iron Man
# Zodiac (2007/I) .... Paul Avery
# A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints (2006) .... Dito
# A Scanner Darkly (2006) .... James Barris
# Good Night, and Good Luck. (2005) .... Joe Wershba
# Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005) .... Harry Lockhart - DeepFriedFetus, on 06/19/2008, -3/+34It deserves every penny.
- screamingjoker, on 06/20/2008, -6/+37Until the Heath Ledger Joker comes and ownes summer.
- iluvatar, on 06/20/2008, -1/+27shotgun
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -4/+26Iron Man has grossed $250 million internationally for a worldwide total of more than $550 million
- dsendecki, on 06/20/2008, -0/+22He shoplifts things at an unprecendented speed or something?
- wowsah156, on 06/20/2008, -0/+21Now all Marvel Studios have to do is give Jon Favreau the moeny he is entitled to for Iron Man 2. He deserves it. Dont cut corners Marvel Studios. Do it right!! Anyway i am curious to see how much money The Dark Knight will take.....
- slvrbullet87, on 06/20/2008, -0/+17Damnit... every time
- Sairynn, on 06/20/2008, -2/+19Apart from the other awesomeness, Gwyneth Paltrow was stunning in Iron Man. Cute redheads ftw (although she's actually blonde).
- MRintheKeys, on 06/20/2008, -2/+19Joker trumps Iron Monger. A hero is only as good as the bad guy he's up against.
- Sairynn, on 06/20/2008, -1/+17The combined force of the Iron Man, the Zohan, and the Love Guru won't want to mess with the Incredible Hulk of a moneymaker (and awesome film) that The Dark Knight is going to be. They'll just wander about aimlessly into Narnia asking Strangers what is Happening.
- hokie47, on 06/20/2008, -1/+14Wow you must have loads of friends. It is fun to be social and go out with a group of friends or hell even a women sometimes. It can enhance the movie experience or with the women get you an after movie BJ.
- guillebravo6, on 06/19/2008, -0/+12gotta love that surprise!
- roflbrothel, on 06/20/2008, -0/+12***** yeah! I can't wait to see him in the next one!
Wait what? - dsendecki, on 06/20/2008, -6/+18Glad you are staying away, hippie. Can't stand the smell of patchouli! ;)
- NoZb2k, on 06/20/2008, -1/+13That good sir, was quite cheesy.
- Lucas123, on 06/20/2008, -0/+12Well deserved, but could they give Gwyneth at least six lines this time?
- Gryffydd, on 06/20/2008, -1/+12"Thats like calling shotgun before you decide to go somewhere."
You can do that when you actually have a shotgun. Try it, it works. - DavidOchs, on 06/20/2008, -4/+15Why is this on the front page? Indiana Jones has grossed $638 million worldwide and it is not even that great of a movie. Box office totals hardly ever represent the quality of a movie.
- trdrstv, on 06/20/2008, -1/+11Dugg for Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Brilliant movie.
- freezerburn666, on 06/20/2008, -6/+16as good as iron man was, the dark knight is going to whoop its ass.
- inactive, on 06/20/2008, -2/+12Movie of the Year with 6 months left still to go? Wow, no point going to see any other movies, then, if this one was the best they're going to release all year...
/marketing *****. - MasterGrief, on 06/20/2008, -0/+10Definitely, Tony Stark is better than Bruce Wayne. Wayne's a tortured soul who doesn't seem to ever have any fun--Stark's pretty much the opposite of that. When a character in a movie is having fun, chances are they're gonna do something that will make you feel like you are, too.
- floridiot2, on 06/20/2008, -1/+10OMG GTA4 totally took the sales away from Iron Man!! Bastards!
Guess what Hollywood.. you make a good movie, and people actually want to go see it. I don't make ***** sandwhiches and expect people to line up to pay for it like a *****' steak. ***** THE MP/RI/AA. - bjs3171, on 06/20/2008, -0/+9i'm not sure i'd call this movie his career resuscitating role, he's been quite a few good flicks in the past few years. A Scanner Darkly, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, to name a few. This surely gave it a, uh, rocket boost, though. Sorry.
Oh, and Tropic Thunder looks promising. - dericko, on 06/20/2008, -4/+13I saw Iron Man in the theaters... TWICE!
And I'd probably pay to see it a 3rd time. I've never even seen a movie more than once in the theater and that's usually a rarity considering I'm quiet fond of torrents. - jonshipman, on 06/20/2008, -0/+9Snape kills DUMBLEDOR!
- psbpv3o, on 06/20/2008, -2/+10This is an amazing movie, yet they are not guaranteeing the directo, John Favreau, Iron man 2 with a pay increase. Marvel is a bunch of idiots.
- freezerburn666, on 06/20/2008, -1/+9oh, c'mon! iron man would slaughter zohan. by the way that movie was horrible. same old adam sandler regurgitated humor
- NoZb2k, on 06/20/2008, -2/+10Bruce Wayne is all emo and *****, if I wanted that Id be at an MCR concert.
- roflbrothel, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7Gene Shallot called, he wants you to stop, talking.
- Harabeck, on 06/20/2008, -1/+8You dont deserve to be able to call yourself a geek with a mistake like that.
- FishHammer, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7are you serious?
- cblaines, on 06/20/2008, -3/+10Iron Man may have been the better movie and may have made more money domestic, but it is not the "Movie of the Year" (if all we are going by is the numbers). At the time of writing:
Iron Man:
Domestic: $300,042,790
International: $250,200,000
Worldwide: $550,242,790
Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:
Domestic: $280,951,091
International: $357,980,502
Worldwide: $638,931,593
Titanic, with the biggest box office ever, had an International Gross that doubled its Domestic. Movies analysis must include international appeal. - crowbar77, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7Harry Potter will kill it, the last movie did $930 million worldwide. The sad part is Iron Man is probably way ahead of it in terms of quality.
- Cenobite, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6I'm not really a fan of Gwyneth Paltrow, but she was adorable and interesting in Iron Man. Kudos to her.
- dagamer34, on 06/20/2008, -1/+7Don't give him too much money that it becomes a CG nerd's dream. Plenty of movie sequels have been ruined by going down that dark path and never returning.
- aaarrrgh, on 06/20/2008, -1/+7*puts on sunglasses*
YEEAAAH - hexydes, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6Or watching the dance ensemble scene from Spider-Man 3...
- GraceMolloy, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6watch out, Redheads will eat your soul. (personal experience)
Sometimes sir, they are FTL. But what fun while they last ... - xL0Sx, on 06/20/2008, -1/+7Wall-E hasn't hit the screens either, there is a huge audience there that won't see or haven't seen Iron Man. Pixar usually does great.
- TheShom, on 06/20/2008, -2/+8Gwyneth Paltrow is smokin' hott...
(clears throat)
It looks like Marvel is about to make a big mistake...
http://digg.com/movies/Jon_Favreau_Might_Not_Direc ... - FlyCO, on 06/20/2008, -0/+6it's a gold-titanium alloy!
- adamantium, on 06/20/2008, -0/+5So was Zodiac.
- slickrick2k1, on 06/20/2008, -1/+6No way. Folks are going to go watch it on the merit of the preceding movie. Why pay a good director to handle it, when retards like you are going to watch it regardless of who is attached to it, so long as it says "IRON MAN 2" on the ticket?
