- ItalinJoe, on 07/14/2008, -13/+57The Dark Night is going to trump all of those films!
- web2pointYo, on 07/14/2008, -1/+38he turns out to be a scientologist?
- AmyVernon, on 07/14/2008, -2/+29I liked the first Hellboy and I'm looking forward to this one. I enjoy plenty of "serious" fare, but I like a good, amusing shoot-em-up and Ron Perlman's PERFECT in the roll.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -0/+20Come on...you spelled Knight wrong? Wow.
- CCSprinter11, on 07/14/2008, -5/+23Having seen both, I can say without hesitation that Hellboy 2 was far superior to Hancock. Yes, the first one sucked, but Guillermo del Toro does a spectacular job developing a deep storyline in the new movie. It's got everything the first one was missing.
- Betaflame, on 07/14/2008, -2/+18Whats up with all the hate? I saw Hellboy 2, liked it and recommend it.
- charlieville, on 07/14/2008, -10/+25Hancock looks so stupid especially if you hear about the retarded twist...
- Jared80KA, on 07/14/2008, -0/+13What if the two superheroes merged?
Hanboy... not very cool.
Hellcock... BADASS. - wedges, on 07/14/2008, -0/+13I saw Hellboy 2. It's certainly not going to hit the AFI Top 100 any time soon, but it was certainly a fun ride.
- Grandpohbah, on 07/14/2008, -0/+12What? "Meet Dave" came in 7th? I'm shocked ;P
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -1/+13Dark Knight will kill both those films easy. Hellboy was better than Hancock though. The first half of Hancock was funny and entertaining and the second half was just horrible. Hellboy was a fun summer movie throughout.

- inactive, on 07/21/2008, -3/+14I missed Hellboy this weekend, but a lot of my friends said they weren't thrilled. I think the concensus was that they felt it didn't have a cohesive storyline. However, two of my friends loved it and said they were surprised that the other guys didn't like it.
- daschupa, on 07/14/2008, -1/+12It deserved it, the movie was a lot of fun and gives me hope for the new Hobbit movie. If the creatures are half as cool as those in Hellboy 2, the movie should look amazing.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -1/+11This movie was awesome, a wonderfully directed visual spectacle that gives us insight into the imagination of my favorite director, Guillermo Del Toro.
- DigSomeMore, on 07/14/2008, -3/+13Easy decision for this past weekend...
- ericdano, on 07/14/2008, -0/+9Pearlman > Smith. Enuff said.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -3/+11Hellboy overpowers Hancock. *snickers*
- MoralThreat, on 07/14/2008, -2/+10Keanu Reeves going "Whoah" every five minutes ain't art film.
- SiSurfer, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7I guess it's obvious which one's the sidekick
- zerhynn, on 07/14/2008, -0/+7Joey said to Megan that he heard from Jill's ex-boyfriend that it was actually like the middle of July! *snickers*
- Cancerkitty, on 07/14/2008, -1/+8I kind of liked Hellboy, but mostly because of Ron Perlman. That guy is awesome.
- drmobutu, on 07/14/2008, -0/+6Every Monday, same old thing...check out the headlines at Google News, Yahoo & elsewhere, they all say the same thing: "This Week's Movie" beat "Last Week's Movie", by X.x million dollars...
- taylorblue, on 07/14/2008, -5/+11The Dark Knight is going to be amazing..I can't wait to see how much it makes!! :)
- MasterGrief, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5It's easier than coming up with something original. Besides that, superhero movies generally have direct roots in comics, and when you have an adaptation from anything going to the big screen, you're going to have a guaranteed audience of people who will see it just because it's based on that thing they really like that is NOT in the medium of film.
- drmobutu, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6Superhero movies are popular with movie producers, it saves them a lot of work.
- Briandt75, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6Hellboy 2 is exactly what you expect it to be... a helluva fun ride, albeit a little rambling in the storyline. The visual effects are stunning, the dialogue is just as one-liner oriented as the first one. The only thing is it's part two of a trilogy and the second part almost always suffers from not having the setup or the finale in the big picture. It's a fantastic and spellbinding film and anyone who doesn't think so obviously has some personal issues that movies simply can't help ya with. Cheers Guillermo! Can't wait for Mountains of Madness and THE HOBBIT!!
- AZRoboto, on 07/14/2008, -1/+6Yeah, a 35 million dollar opening weekend really overpowers a 100+ million dollar one.
Stupid pun-filled headlines.
EDIT: Yeah, I know it's for this past weekend, too. But they shouldn't word it like that. - GreyICE, on 07/14/2008, -0/+5That HAS to be sarcasm. I hope...
Sufficiently advanced sarcasm is indistinguishable from stupidity? - inactive, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Watched the first one over the weekend, so I could try to see this one some time this week... I liked it a lot... Like most anything del toro does, broad appeal with subtleties beyond the reach of most... Excited to see this....
- JoeB4ever, on 07/14/2008, -0/+478 hours till Dark Knight
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -2/+6Does your mommy know you're playing with the big kids on the internet?
- djbittner, on 07/14/2008, -1/+5I was very surprised by the this film's ability to introduce very out-of-this-world characters and make them so relatable and funny.
I went in expecting much less from the film, and came out pleasantly surprised. - Daggerfall, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Why would this be interesting?
- TracerMan, on 07/14/2008, -0/+4Combined!
- Boofster, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Why is this news?
This week's movie is most likely to be number 1 over last week's movie. DUH! Have you checked if the date today is yesterday + 1? OMG! BREAKING! - Wormwoods, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3You sound very certain.
- Pake, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3If you ever start watching a lot of anime and reading a lot of manga, you'll realize that the Matrix wasn't really that original of a piece. And lets not even argue about special effects when most of the special effects were inspired by Ghost in the Shell and just transferred from being played by voice actors to real actors.
- Briandt75, on 07/14/2008, -1/+4Umm Rotten Tomatoes is based on the averages of many reviews. It can't be right or wrong unless you feel that you are the sole judge of sci-fi movies nowadays? Which you obviously aren't since you obviously didn't like Hellboy 2.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3That way he can be the only one who can truly help.
- Aieces, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3Yea I know I dont get it either. Different strokes makes the world go round I guess. I thought Hellboy was one of the better movies this year.
- RandomGorilla, on 07/15/2008, -0/+3I feel kind of ashamed that I still snicker every time I hear Hancock as a movie title.
- INDOAZZ, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3HB2 Solid.....HANCOCK sucked......
- tdogg241, on 07/14/2008, -0/+3What's up with the BBC reporting on American box office receipts?
- 1160Smith, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3"War. War never changes"
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3Oh, I see that you capitalized "Junior High" inappropriately but not "internet" as it should be. I didn't think that illiterate imbeciles could use the Internet at all.
- inactive, on 07/14/2008, -3/+5Substantial for a sequel, indeed
- MasterGrief, on 07/14/2008, -2/+4I'm not sure about other people, but I prefer Hellboy 2 over the first one. Like donkz said above, the two are comparable in quality, made about the same, but I think the story in the second one yielded far more interesting characters and entertaining interaction between them. Also, there's the whole abundance of steampunky technology, like the ghost man held in a glass-topped canvas suit and the "magic seeing eyes" or whatever they were called with leather caps with extremely complex brass goggles.
Obviously, the subtitle for this film is "The Golden Army", and I assure you, this Golden Army is freakin incredible. There's a gratuitous fight scene involving them at the end of the film and if you're into giant, shiny, and bipedal machines powered by scores of gears, you're gonna love it. - JesperL, on 07/14/2008, -1/+3Baseless accusations yay!
- endlessoul, on 07/14/2008, -5/+7Hancock "looks" stupid?
Meaning you haven't even seen it?
Buried. -
