- coopaloop, on 06/22/2009, -2/+39If diggers only dugg stories that affected them, there would be nothing on this site.
- versualize, on 06/22/2009, -1/+36Please don't make these PG. I liked the darkness of the fifth movie, and the seventh book was by far the heaviest. In order to have a satisfactory conclusion, all the death and destruction of the last book needs to be included in the seventh/eighth movies.
- atlasdugged, on 06/22/2009, -12/+43I think Harry Potter is one of the greatest franchises in history. Can't wait.
- NorrisOBE, on 06/22/2009, -3/+33Will there be a nude Hermione?
- clouds31, on 06/22/2009, -2/+31So he's going for the Kill Bill approach?
- KibblesnBitts, on 06/22/2009, -0/+27I just want to hear, "NOT MY DAUGHTER, YOU BITCH!"
- dafragsta, on 06/22/2009, -2/+27Sound more like the Kill Dumbledore approach.
- DBreeze, on 06/22/2009, -2/+24I for one love the books. The mystical world JK Rowling has created is fascinating. There are few series that stand out and this is one of them.
- omar199, on 06/22/2009, -3/+24Are you really talking about the movies?? Maybe its because I read the books, which were at least 217% better than the movies.
IMO, LOTR was a lot better than any of these were or will be. - TheVirus, on 06/22/2009, -0/+18Because actors always take parts that match their age exactly. We've /never/ had a movie where an actor was older, or younger, than the part called for. ***** off, troll.
- teethandeyes, on 06/22/2009, -1/+18Not necessarily. I know many people who were into the Potter books who think Twilight is lame.
- meruru, on 06/22/2009, -1/+14Thats not true; we would still have pot stories and videogame articles
- BeforeSputnik, on 06/22/2009, -0/+12Just in your head, man. Mine too, but still just in your head.
- dugg4selfesteem, on 06/22/2009, -1/+13Actually, I've decided to quit my job and put in my application to Hogwarts.
Oh... - LordVance, on 06/22/2009, -0/+11"one of the greatest" =/= "the absolute greatest"
He could be talking about one of the ten greatest, or the one hundred greatest. I'd probably put it in the top five as far as movie franchises go personally. Though I do agree, LoTR was better. - phbohn2, on 06/22/2009, -0/+8what a nice guy.
- omar199, on 06/22/2009, -2/+10BASTARD!!!
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -1/+9I think you may well be. Read the other books again, knowing what you do for the last book. She set up the whole ending wonderfully.
Devoid of emotion? How about where Ron decides to abandon Harry and Hermione, leaving Hermione heartbroken but resolutely standing by Harry's side? How about the death of Dobby, who Harry dug a grave for with his own hands, relishing in every blister he got as a tribute to the elf? How about the tension between Harry and Lupin, upon Lupin's cowardice at leaving his young family? - Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7They're classic, engaging hero journey stories. The earlier ones are books for kids, and are easy reading (although having re-read them, there's a hell of a lot of foreshadowing and critical devices set up very early). As a whole, the series is already a literary classic.
- Ratatoo, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7glad to see it learned you the first time.
- ChiaGod, on 06/22/2009, -0/+7... and suddenly, and for seemingly no reason, hundreds of thousand orders of Deathly Hallows were placed in a very short time at Amazon, only to be canceled 15 minutes later.
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -0/+6Let me sum up some other whole series, then:
Star Wars: A Jedi did it.
Lord of the Rings: A hobbit did it.
James Bond: A spy did it. - The_Broken, on 06/22/2009, -0/+6I don't think splitting the last movie in to two parts is entirely about making more money. If you noticed over the last few films they cut more and more parts that are in the book. Making two movies they can tell the last book in its entirety. But wasn't this known over a year ago?
- CreateTheFuture, on 06/22/2009, -1/+7I haven't read Deathly Hallows in a while, but doesn't Harry nail Ginny when they're camping out in the forest? Or was it Ron and Hermione? I swear I remember something like that happening...
- Tonicks, on 06/22/2009, -0/+5Good call by the studio to get Yates for movie 6 and the last two. He did a great job directing the fifth, and I cannot wait to see what he has in store for us with the last three films.
- Thanatosbda, on 06/22/2009, -1/+6I call BS! You've never been on a date! ;)
- snagglefoof, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Please use your spoiler tags.
- Floomdesk, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4Snape = The Bride
- DBreeze, on 06/22/2009, -1/+5The fanbase of twilight was 4 when the Harry Potter books came out..
- MrsRodted, on 06/22/2009, -0/+4I think Disney kind of took the idea and ran with it (wizards of waverly place) but a properly done Harry Potter series could be awesome, I agree
- rpgmakr, on 06/23/2009, -0/+3Sounds more like "There aren't any other Harry Potter books coming out so it's better to squeeze the franchise the most we can with the next movie"
- hanban, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4the books are much better.
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4WB is a business and I can't blame them. Don't ignore the incredible dedication of the cast and crew because of them.
- sexybobo, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4Ron? The rifftrax for these movies are awesome so more movies more rifftrax.
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4No. By the time it finishes filming (April) he'll be 20, playing 17. Perfectly acceptable. The oldest member of the trio, Rupert Grint, will be 21.
- Linake, on 06/22/2009, -0/+3Here here, Secret7000 :) ! A lot of people don't realize the hard work that the crew puts into a feature film. 16 hour days, seven days a week... these are hard working men and women. Jrr, show them some respect and see the movie in theatres, please.
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4Source? The Harry Potter fan community thrives.
- Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -0/+3There's nothing in the last book which would put it much above a PG (not really much outright violence to speak of, although there's a fair bit of torture-by-magic) - but they need to have that constant threat hanging over the trio's head at all times. I really need to feel that it's possible they'll be attacked or captured at any moment.
- Linake, on 06/22/2009, -1/+4I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, and I have no interest what-so-ever in Twilight. It's not the same thing at all. Sure, they are both a series of books that have been made into films, but beyond that there is nothing really to compare the two. I have friends who are fans of both, so being a fan of one does not cancel out the other.
- Hybred1234, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3This obligatory "You've never been on a date/had sex" stuff is getting really old... It was funny back when Digg was new, now it's just stupid.
- missinglink, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3If I were a movie studio exec, I'd employ Zenos' dichotomy paradox so as to never actually end this Harry Potter franchise. Just keep dividing the remaining story in half, ad infinitum.
Profit! - Linake, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2I think you need to read past book two. Honestly, I have always found it to be the weakest of the entire series. The rest of the books are fantastic :) Plenty of creative juice.
- snagglefoof, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2Spam.
- Greyscale88, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2Holy *****...this guy may be on to something. Harry = Ickus, Hermione = Oblina, Ron = Krum...
- iFrix, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3The book was better than the movie???? Why that's a first! /s
Seriously? Can you be more cliché?
PS I agree though: the books are better, but its still a cliché - statement. - inactive, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3A marathon on all Harry Potter fimls would be nearly impossible to complete in a theater, like the ones they had with Lord of the Rings. By the time all 8 movies are done, it'll be nearing 24 hours.
- 12916studios, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2@rilian
But it was used in an entirely different context with a different meaning. Bitch, as she was using it, meant female dog. In that form it wasn't a swear, so they could get away with it. - Secret7000, on 06/22/2009, -1/+3Well, as I said, WB are not in it for the art, they're in it for the money. If you want to blame them for making as much money as they, then you're blaming them for existing in the first place.
The artists are the director, the actors, the writers, the prop makers, the set dressers, the design team, the sound editors, the costume designers, the foley artists, the digital effects artists and the DI. Don't boycott their hard work. - groberts1980, on 06/23/2009, -0/+2I'm hoping The Deathly Hallows will be dark enough to warrant a PG13.
- rilian, on 06/22/2009, -0/+2You could easily have that line *and* keep it PG. Prisoner of Azkaban used the same word in a line by Aunt Marge early on and it had a PG rating.
