- sleeknerve, on 01/15/2008, -1/+76please have a seat over there......
- FyreGoddess, on 01/15/2008, -3/+70Not gonna happen. They said this about both books 4 and 5 and they wound up butchering both, leaving out things that the readers felt were key to the later books. I don't believe at all that they'll do it with the last one, not when most of the book is pretty tedious, what with sitting around not doing anything trying to figure out how to find or destroy horcruxes.
There's a lot more that can be cut out of the last book than out of some of the previous ones, not to mention that much of what has previously been cut leads to many of those things not needing to be mentioned for film continuity as the series wraps up. - chibimmy, on 01/15/2008, -3/+41Who would have cared if she wasn't?
- LordSubtle, on 01/15/2008, -0/+36Can Luna wash her back?
- Lou3000, on 01/15/2008, -0/+35I feel like the movies portray Harry and his friends as very haphazardly stumbling through adventures. The books seem to suggest that Harry (and especially Hermione) are quite bright. Where the movies seem to suggest that Harry knows 2 spells.
- Artagnan, on 01/15/2008, -9/+431. This will probably happen; the studios stand to make millions more in profits.
2. The first HP was the best, because it stuck to the plot of the movie. It's sad that the movie quality was degraded.
3. FOLLOW THE DAMN BOOKS!!!! - Batiu-Drami, on 01/15/2008, -1/+27The best movie, by far, was the third one. They chose a real director (Alfonso CuarĂ³n) and the film was good to watch, and entertaining. The first two were childish and stupid, and, yes they followed the books, but they weren't very good films. Movies 4 and 5 were essentially clip shows of various scenes from the books. I don't know, but I'd guess that it'd be pretty damn hard to follow what the hell was happening if you were watching them without reading the books - they're not good films.
- wentwj, on 01/15/2008, -3/+21This is a HORRIBLE idea. I love Harry Potter as much as the next person, but the last book contained a LOT of filler. Hell, Ron literally got bored and left for a good 200 pages. He literally said "I'm bored, we aren't doing anything" and then got up and left.
There are large segements of that book that NEED to be skipped or skimmed in order for the movies to be effective. Dragging this out over two movies would cause the pacing to become off, and ultimately cause both halves to be significantly worse than one longer movie with all the unnecessary elements thrown out. - dakilla91, on 01/15/2008, -0/+18Pics or it didn't happen...
- zeptobyte, on 01/15/2008, -2/+191 part tent, 1 part action.
- arjung, on 01/15/2008, -2/+16why not just leave it as one part, but as a 3 hour movie?
titanic was 194 minutes, and it earned more money than any other blockbuster. i agree that hp5 had too much content cut out, but making it in to two parts for theaters is not the answer. - relaxeder, on 04/17/2009, -3/+17HP computers > HP movies
- bryant, on 01/15/2008, -1/+151. Continue repeatedly posting a brutally unfunny meme.
2. ???
3. You ***** fail. - riggs32, on 01/15/2008, -0/+11yeah the 5th movie was like the director read the sparknotes of hp5 instead of the book
- XxIronhidexX, on 01/15/2008, -1/+12If you like albino's, sure why not!
- jwhicks727, on 01/15/2008, -3/+13Uh, I think it was the movie that stuck to the plot of the book, not the other way around.
- zjordan04, on 01/15/2008, -0/+9Yeah, I don't think you understand how or when to correctly use that meme.
- D3koy, on 01/15/2008, -0/+8HP Steak sauce > HP Computers
Seriously, House of Parliament steak sauce, check it out...

- Arramol, on 01/15/2008, -2/+10Regardless of their motives, I'm glad they're doing it. I came away from OotP feeling like I'd just seen the Cliff's Notes version. A lot of what makes the Harry Potter books so enjoyable is all the subplots going on in the background, and it's just not possible to fit these in when you're trying to cram such large books into a three hour movie.
- Lou3000, on 01/15/2008, -0/+8Yeah, and the 5th movie barely skimmed the 5th book.
- Dhalgren, on 01/15/2008, -0/+8I concur. I loved the books, but there was definitely some foot dragging in the final book that can be left out of a movie. They should have split some of the earlier movies. Or did what Peter Jackson did with LotR: 3hrs for theatrical and 3:30-3:45 for extended DVD edition.
- neio, on 01/15/2008, -0/+7Part 3: Profit!
- CannedMango, on 01/15/2008, -1/+8Harry Potter and the Machine of Infinite Money

- bejayel, on 01/15/2008, -0/+7Ick lindsey lohan is ***** gross now. *gags*
- Dhalgren, on 01/15/2008, -0/+7Dude, try 2 hours and 18 minutes. For the longest book in the series! This is just lazy in my opinion. Lord of the Rings established that as long as there is good content we can sit still for 3 hours...
- doctordbx, on 01/15/2008, -0/+6Like the first part of LOTR?
- orbingpunk, on 01/15/2008, -0/+6Goblet of Fire isn't the longest; Order of the Phoenix is.
- encrypter, on 01/15/2008, -0/+6The actress which played Luna had some nude photos of herself leaked a few months ago
- chungmaster, on 01/15/2008, -1/+6Why don't you have a seat over there........
- zeebo, on 01/15/2008, -1/+6They should have done what Peter Jackson did with the Lord of the Rings, 2 hour theater cut, 4 hour special edition DVD releases. At least for books 4 and on. Three already seemed rushed but they pulled it off adequately, but 4 suffered, and 5 was cut down far too much.
Although really, I still don't think we'll see a really faithful adaptation till the BBC makes a mini-series version of it twenty years from now and is able to dedicate hours upon hours to each book. - bluemist, on 01/15/2008, -0/+5You are one of the few who would agree with me in saying the third movie is the best so far. Prisoner of Azkaban grossed the least compared to the other HP films, but it had the best quality IMO.
- childprey, on 01/15/2008, -0/+5They most def included Harry and Cho kissing.
- FadieZ, on 01/15/2008, -0/+5If only they split the fourth movie in two. It felt so short and rushed compared to the book.
- Makaveli604, on 01/15/2008, -3/+8Do the movies make any sense without reading the books? Some segments must make absolutely zero sense.. On the other hand, the movies are quite good overall. :/
- lex0nyc, on 01/15/2008, -0/+5I hope part 2 is longer than part 1.
- archer75, on 01/15/2008, -0/+4I agree. Much of the last book did feel like filler.
- cyrix, on 01/15/2008, -0/+4Haven't seen the fifth yet, but in the fourth movie I was surprised they left out how harry came to learn the spells he needed for the challenges. Specifically the Dragon Challenge. I felt let down after they did that. Not holding out much hope for the fifth movie.
- dafragsta, on 01/15/2008, -0/+4I've been watching these movies since the first one came out in 2002. I knew then she was going to be a hottie. I always felt it was creepy to even acknowledge that.
- darkcomet86, on 01/15/2008, -0/+4Well obviously, *everyone* dies in the end. lol
- tsornin, on 01/15/2008, -1/+5I don't see what the problem is. All they have to do is delete the whole "camping across England" crap. That's half the book right there...
- archer75, on 01/15/2008, -1/+4Starting with the goblet of fire they each should be made into two parts. The first 3 should be 30 minutes longer. So much is cut out from the books the movies just lose too much.
- D3koy, on 01/15/2008, -2/+5On the "Group W" bench?
- chamanbuga, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3receding hairline of an actor? at 20??? who's rich????? what are you on???????
- Dumbledorito, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3"Lawnmower Man 2."
- shakin, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3The books aren't literary classics or anything, but it's still a shame that the movies have almost completely cut out all character motivations. It's fine if you have already read the books, but anybody who's just seeing the movies must have an entirely different idea about these characters. It's a shame because it seems like in the books Rowling really made an effort to give each character strong motivations for their actions.
- Skooma714, on 01/15/2008, -0/+3lol nope, just a very good lookalike.
You really think the tabloids would that one go? -
