- T1m3Mast3r, on 10/10/2007, -5/+15I don't see what everyone's problem is. Zombie is one hell of a horror filmmaker.
- geeklibrary, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8I wouldn't have made the connection between Myers and Grendel on my own, but you definitely make some good points.
- devjunkie, on 10/10/2007, -2/+9Horror movies have a fever, and the only prescription is more Zombie.
Seriously, the horror genre needs to be revitalized - too much crap like "The Ring" (or any PG-13 "horror" movie for that matter), and ***** remakes (Hills Have Eyes). If anyone else re-imagined Halloween, it'd be horrible - but Zombie, as others have already said, perfect.
Many people didn't like House of 1000 Corpses, but in the same fashion as Grindhouse, it takes a certain understand to really appreciate what the movie was trying to do - more or less a nod to Texas Chainsaw Massacre and those really far out b-movies. - sgtpppr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Dude, you don't even know what you're talking about. White Zombie broke up. Rob Zombie started a solo career with one or two members of the old band. Thunderkiss 65 was on beavis and butthead. Dragula came out way later. I hardly think beavis and butthead making fun of a white zombie video 'made them famous'. Wtf are you on?
- Szandor, on 10/10/2007, -2/+8What made the original so great was its tension and suspense and Carpenter's eerily effective soundtrack. From what I've read, the new version goes for the gross-out and shock factors, which do not a great horror film make. Psychological horror is much more effective and lasting than shock value, imho.
- JordanM85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6I guess they don't want to compete with Saw 4
- hijinks, on 10/10/2007, -3/+8I saw this last night and Halloween is one hell of a movie. If you liked the first one, I think you will enjoy this one. He not only made Myers into a scary guy but also made him look really badass.
- Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5It is not as much of a psychological horror film as the originial. However the movie is really good and the soundtrack is awesome. And he still uses some of the same affects as the first one and the same creepy music. Like when jamie lee curtis looks out the window of her school and you see him standing there and he disappears. The part I liked most about it was how micheal was as a little kid, The back story is way better.
- billymonster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5anyone holding the halloween franchise "near and dear" to their hearts has never seen halloween 3.
i could make a better movie than that. - jpbleuu, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7If anyone is to go and remake a classic horror movie no one is better to do it then Rob Zombie.
- GRTWHT, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6Well, I'll certainly be buried for this, but who cares!
Rob Zombie can do torture porn or splatter fests or whatever you want to call them, but he can't (so far) do horror. Halloween (the original, not all those ***** sequels) was one of the creepiest most disturbing horror movies ever and it completely revitalized the whole horror movie industry. To have Rob Zombie turn it into another 1000 corpses or Rejects gross out, bloodbath gore fest is just plain stupid.
Maybe I'll be proved wrong (I won't pay money to find out, so it'll be a while before I know for sure), but I sincerely doubt it. - cinemajunkie70, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Go Royce!!!!
- fuzzynyanko, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I like the article. Basically it says "I didn't like his work on this movie, but I admire the balls of him taking the risk in directing the movie that way", referring to one of his other works.
- ruley, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3so many horror films get released then, it just gets stupid... (i know i know, its Halloween, but still...)
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3I suppose you were pissed when you found out Jesus died before reading the entire bible.
- Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I thought the movie was really good. It was one of the better horror films I have seen in a long time. I definatly reccomend anyone who likes rob zombie or horror films to watch it.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/10/2007, -8/+10I find it hilarious that some people hold the Halloween "legacy" sacred. It wasn't that great of a movie, and the sequels didn't improve things. It was just another slasher franchise of the 80s, but with a catchy theme song. Zombie's "re-imagining" is, in fact, a much better film than the series deserves.
- Stonedonkey, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I think Tobe Hooper and Hammer Studios would strongly disagree with everything you just said.
- JordanM85, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I am a huge fan of Rob Zombie's other 2 movies, but not this one so far.
First half was really cool, I loved it.... But around the half way mark, everything gets really bad. It was too dark, shaky and very rushed. And the ending was very stupid. I have a real problem with the second half of this movie, so I hope it gets some major changes. Rob Zombie's additions to Halloween are great, but the remake portion fails hard... almost to the point of being unwatchable.
I already have my ticket and I'm still going on Friday... - Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I have seen it already. I liked it.
- unabonger, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Why release the movie now? Why not wait 8 more weeks until, you know "Halloween"?
- billymonster, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2do you have that much trouble reading that you can't watch pan's labrynth without it being dubbed?
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Beowulf is for all intents and purposes an original story.
(The translation is just that, a translation.)
The Halloween remake isn't original. That's the problem.
Translate Pan's Labyrinth and I'll be happy. - JFetch, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Way to spoil it for everyone.
- Elranzer, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3It's kinda sad that a ***** Saw sequel is the "horror movie to beat" rather than Halloween. What dark times we live in.
- ruley, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3you not only spoiled it, but i logged in to digg you down for "mad easy"
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3ok you ass monkeys know nothing. White Zombie got big after Welcome to Planet ***** was used on an episode of beavis and butthead during one of the video sequences that was on the show. Beavis and Butthead repeatedly said "White Zombie RULE!!!!!". They never made fun of White Zombie. It is true, however, that Beavis and Butthead gave White Zombie widespread exposure, that led to them being quite popular.
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2He doesn't die, he's been back for like 6 sequels.
Then again, I bet you were upset when you found out that Anakin doesn't avoid the darkside in Episode 3. - plhearn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Did anyone ever watch Haloween 3? It wasn't even about Michael Myers. It was about these monster people running an evil corporation. http://www.i-mockery.com/minimocks/halloween3/
- Corinthos, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I liked the movie until he got out then it seemed all downhill. I wish it would've been more about the younger Micheal Myers.
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2He's not emo, if he were emo he would've sat on the floor in the dark crying for 90 minutes.
- danielsan79, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3I've enjoyed all of Rob's films so far and I'm sure I'll enjoy Halloween. That being said, I wish he would have been given Friday the 13th or Texas Chainsaw Massacre to work with. He doesn't seem to understand what made Michael and Halloween work. You just knew this guy escaped a psycho ward and was after the babysitter that was at his former home. His motives were unexplained and he couldn't be stopped. That is what made the movie great. Now, Michael is just a Jason-like brute who just destroys everyone and we know everything about his past and what makes him evil. He's essentially an emo kid that had a bad upbringing and now he's taking it out on everyone. Great...
- plhearn, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Actually he dies in all the other movies so I don't really feel like its been spoiled.
- Zabuza2478, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1The time frame in this movie is really crazy and confused the hell out of me. One second we're dealing with a pre teen Michael Myers and then 15 years later people are using modern cell phones and cops are driving late 70s/early 80s style police cars.
This movie was really disappointing - lobofanina, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1A psychopath is the polar opposite to an emo(stional) kid.
- frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I like halloween 3, but it had nothing to do with Micheal myers. "2 more days to halloween, SILVER SHAMROCK!!!"
- cloudyprison, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Zombie....not so much. zombieS....YES! Bring on the shamblers!
- mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -3/+4Watch that piece of ***** remake.
Cheerleaders sleeping with white trash males...would never happen. Why does every actor in his film have to look white trash?
Laurie Strode went from shy virgin, to dumb party slut.
This movie was worse than the TCM remake. - mywhitenoise, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2You guys are digging this guy now, wait until you waste $20 on that piece of crap, and then thank him for his horrible tastes that led you to the theatre.
- RedZeppelin, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Bravo. Well played.
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Obviously, he's the type of ***** that would yell at people to speak English if he ever found himself in a situation where there were foreigners speaking (or he himself were a foreigner).
- Hetman, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I did not really care for house of 1000 corpses or devils rejects. I did not want to see this movie but I was talked into it. And I was really surprised. It is a gory movie but it is still a good horror movie. He picked the perfect little kid to play youn micheal. The little kid is creppy and somewhat innocent at the same time. Its worth watching even if you wait for the DvD.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I'm no *****. I speak english and french.
I'm also not American.
I don't like watching subtitled movies cause work like "Pan's Labyrinth" is wicked. I don't like missing out on the scene while I'm reading.
I saw Jet Li's "Hero" in the theater, subtitled. I watched it again on DVD when it was Dubbed and found that I was able to catch more detail in the scenes. In both instances I enjoyed the movie. - astrotrain, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2Another re-make...another movie on the rental shelves collecting dust in two months. No wonder the MPAA is bitching about movie sales, they pump out crap and expect folks to pay top dollar for what they can go rent for $2.00 at the local store? Hollywood and as we know it "The Movie Theater" are dead... $10.00 ticket sales for re-makes, or attempted sequels to movies from 20+ years ago.
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1@mywhitenoise
I suppose you have enjoy Nelly ***** or whatever her name is. - frepnog, on 10/10/2007, -4/+5No, it was not "another slasher franchise". It was THE slasher franchise. All the others owe a debt to the original Halloween.
- so1omon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1To be fair... he dies a little over halfway through.
- fino35, on 10/10/2007, -1/+2I think it will be good, but what I'm really waiting for is his werewolf women of the SS movie.
- JengoPop, on 10/10/2007, -0/+0So Michael Myers is back! Who would you least likely want to meet in a dark alley? Chucky, Freddie Krueger, Jason, Leatherface, Michael Myers, or Phil Spector? Vote today at http://www.pollicious.com
- jpbleuu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+1way to ruin the ending of episode 3 for me.
