- Schrade, on 10/12/2007, -0/+14I prefer to use µTorrent's RSS to download my shows. It's nice to not have to run another app :) (µTorrent is almost always running anyhow)
- GamerSmurf, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Wow, this is pretty sweet! I just need some more HDD space. Crazy how 300GB isn't enough...
- Rmplstltskn, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10or so you think.
- soogy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Yep. uTorrent tvrss.net is by FAR the easiest and best way. http://utorrent.com/rsstutorial.php
You only need one program, which doesn't even require an installer (it's just one file!). Plus, uTorrent idles like a charm, uses almost no memory when just sitting there, waiting for new episodes to be downloaded. - allthewhile, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8µTorrent has an rss module included.
http://www.utorrent.com/rsstutorial.php + http://tvrss.net/ = haxoring - Galaxion, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8A lot of us don't happen to live in countries with supremely fascist copyright laws.
- zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7you could just watch them and delete them after..
I learnt the hard way.. --good thing I used dvd-rw. believe me, you'll never watch them again. unless it's Lost of course.. wich I just got the dvd.
ps.. uTorrent. nuff ^^ - heymark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I use micro-torrent with the tvRSS feeds, and it works fabulously.
- Hella, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6I find myself downloading it while i could just go turn on the TV, I bet my isp hates me for it too.
But commercial free makes it all worth it. - jmikola, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"Ted" (from the article: http://www.rulecam.net/ted/) seems to be a spin off of tvRSS, a perl/GTK app:
linux: http://tvtrss.sourceforge.net/
windows port: http://tvtad.net/ - ReqX, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4It really does sound easy, but getting that to work is the only thing I've never been able to figure out on my computer.
- edicius, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4or so you think!
- IQ70, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Ted needs Java installed.
One reason I moved to uT was to cut the java bloat. - moggy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2TVTad from tvtad is better works with azureus a utorrent has larger list of shows built in and yes you can add more
also its easer to use get it at tvtad.com
and heres a list of rss feeds you can use

- toxicredm, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Now all I need is Gdrive and I'll be all set.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No, downloading TV shows is still copyright infringment.
Most broadcast TV channels don't aggressively monitor torrents for IPs, but cable channels like HBO, Showtime, Comedy Central, and others send letters to ISPs based on the IPs they capture off of the torrents.
I recieved one from HBO, forwarded from Charter telling me to ceise and desist or legal action would take place. So I just use newsgroups now. - zone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2that would be.. http://tvrss.net/feed/combined/
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Nobody is afraid of being sued by the studios?
Just curious. It's the lack of anonymity on bittorrent and the forced sharing that keeps me away from it except for legally clear distributing. - kd5ftn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I perfer uTorrent with the tvRSS feed from EZTV.
EZTV has great, high quality, reliable rips of almost any show. They're quick too, about an hour after airing.
http://tvrss.net/feed/eztv/ - Saintlink, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2What is really a kick is that I never buy the products of advertisers simply because I saw it on TV.
- LycoLoco, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1http://tvrss.net/sources/eztv_m/ and http://tvrss.net/sources/vtv/ are your only needed sources. :-)
- tzuriel, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1µTorrent does this already although the mininova feeds link to the info page instead of the actual .torrent. However most of the popualr shows are at bt-chat.com whose feeds work properly within µTorrent
- Silverjam, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Stupid question, but is this legal?
- alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Use Ted with tvRSS!
- stephendv, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1There's a step by step set of instructions on how to achieve the same thing using Azureus and the RSSFeedScanner plugin here: http://stephendv.livejournal.com/1199.html
- JimXugle, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1so is there anything like this/Democracy? Democracy always crashes on me... I can't even subscribe to a feed.
- foolfromhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2www.tvtorrents.com
its organized, and amazing. created by co-author of Azureus - pap3rw8, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Ha. They don't condone piracy but they use SafePeer.
- GraceMolloy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I have better luck with this feed than with the TVRss feeds:
http://www.bt-chat.com/rss.php?mode=group&group=3
it's the adjusted TVTad feed - SunAlex, on 09/01/2008, -0/+0to be or not to be? I really wonder why 280 GB is not enough?

http://search.ashtech.info/movies - epinephrine, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I've been using that method for ages now. I remember the days when I manually downloaded TV shows. They were fun. I'd use uTorrent, but there is no linux version. Hope there will be, it's a nice client.
- fookite, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0My current solution involves putting the tvrss.net search feeds into a program called WinTED which drops .torrent files into a directory for uTorrent to pick up. Yes, it's a little convoluted, however it seems to be quite robust as far as dealing with crappy file names and avoiding dupes..
- Saintlink, on 10/12/2007, -3/+3I am a super tightwad. Trust me, it doesn't happen. :-)
- Luuvitonen, on 10/12/2007, -2/+2Reported 'illegal'. Oh wait. I can't.
Recording a public tv doesn't remove the authors rights to the show. - jesusisapervert, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You don't need ANY 3rd Party Apps if you use µTorrent, it already has great RSS support built-in. It can download anything based on wildcards or regular expressions, and supports tags like HDTV, XviD etc to get the right format if you are downloading TV episodes. Plus it's the smallest BitTorrent client and even supports strong privacy if you follow this story:

The svn version of Democracy Player started working on my 64-bit GNU/Linux-system for the first time ever, yesterday. It crashes from time to time if you use it to play videos with, but is a great program for the most part.
Democracy Player makes it fun to watch RSS/bittorrent-vlogs! - alienvenom, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Wow, digg is completely ***** up posting links right now... everything gets prepended with http://digg.com/movies/ WTF!?!?!?!?!
- AllenDang, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Useful idea. I'm tired to find seed every week by myself.
Seems µTorrent is better. - moggy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0tvtad.com
- sparkmonkeyz, on 10/12/2007, -3/+1diggnation, here i come
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -6/+1I like Azureus the best as client go, but I can't wait for the show each week. My MO these days is to wait until close to the end of the season, and then mininova all the episodes and watch them in a marathon sitting... It's like watching '24' in 'realtime' :-)
