- jboitnott, on 02/28/2009, -5/+77Just as long as he doesn't write it or direct it. Clearly -- he is not cut out to do such things.
- xptweakerntn, on 02/28/2009, -9/+44Title is very misleading, makes it sound as if we will see more of Luke and Han and Leia after the galaxy is saved.
- JakeBC, on 02/28/2009, -1/+29I liked it the first time I saw it when it was called 'The Tuskegee Airmen'.

I'm definitely watching this movie. - BLyday, on 02/28/2009, -5/+26Who keeps encouraging this guy?!

..................................., - ryrocker, on 02/28/2009, -0/+17yeah i was like "didn't they already make that movie?"
i guess it didnt have enough wipe style transitions to satisfy mr. lucas. - inactive, on 02/28/2009, -1/+17$$$
- ThermiteTerrace, on 02/28/2009, -0/+16Sure...but ten years down the road he'll make a 'Remastered Edition" where the Messerschmitt shoots first.
- lohphat, on 02/28/2009, -2/+16NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -5/+17These comments suck.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -3/+12can't we just make the timothy zahn star-wars trilogy already?
- copypastry, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9young black farm kid (Trey Smith or Kel Mitchell) yearns to be a pilot? CHECK
old black father-figure pilot who fought in WWI (Morgan Freeman) ? CHECK
suave black smuggler ( Will Smith) with unintelligible + hirsute black buddy (Michael Clarke Duncan) ? CHECK - nekaidesigns, on 02/28/2009, -0/+9Oh, so NOW you decide not to direct?
Somebody please tell this guy to just ***** stop. - ousthouse, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6Billy Dee Williams gets a part, right?
- Prasheed, on 02/28/2009, -1/+7I'm fine with it as long as there are no CG Prairie dogs. Or people surviving nuclear explosions in refrigerators.
- LordBalderdash, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6or you could bitch about someone else bitching about it...
- Amadeus2490, on 02/28/2009, -0/+6Well, Carrie Fisher nor Harrison Ford would agree to sign on for another Star Wars movie, especially Carrie; She's always bitched about being type-casted as Princess Leia and would not want a part in it, unless she were paid a ridiculous amount of money. Plus, Harrison Ford is apparently retired after the last Indiana Jones movie.
If things were different and they were younger, i'd love to see a Shadows Of The Empire movie. Mark Hamill has said that he wants to do a Jedi Academy movie, though. With his age, that's the only direction they'd be able to go with him.
Timothy Zahn is absolutely the perfect author for Star Wars novels, though. - rdldr1, on 02/28/2009, -2/+7Let me guess... "I'm gonna make this movie for the kids. In this movie, we are going to have the funniest character in the galaxy!"
- GrimChaos, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4Galaxy saved? Ha, someone clearly hasn't read any of the novels. Seriously, things happen after the Return of the Jedi that makes the Galactic War look like a little squabble by comparison.
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -1/+5We are in a thread about George Lucas' latest movie. Why should I be ignoring his past efforts? Why should I have to "ignore" or "look away" from things that I don't like instead of simply criticizing them?
- AmusedToDeath, on 02/28/2009, -0/+4The big twist will be that they're not airmen, but "inter-dimensional beings".
- reyoo30309, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3I will find him and hunt him down if he adds aliens to this movie...
Damn'it Lucas aliens are not made to fill all plot gaps! - AmusedToDeath, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3You've got some thought-provoking ideas here. I am greatly anticipating your next post.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Doesn't matter, it can't possibly be worse than Miracle at St. Anna.
You'd think a black director would avoid the stereotype of the big dumb magical negro, but instead, Spike Lee puts the green mile and all magical negro movies to shame. - gatorfree, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3I really hope Samuel L. Jackson is involved. But maybe he's "had enough of these ... "
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Can we throw him in GITMO before he starts?
Actually now it's being closed, let's render all the ***** artists there. Nickleback, get in the ***** van. - onionoino, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3accurate is not a verb
- SawButter, on 02/28/2009, -2/+5Is it me or i read "George Lucas to produce first porn-Star Wars film" ?
- borschwanger, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3they were an all black fighter pilot squadron that flew during the end of WWII. they never lost a bomber to enemy fighters. i think they scored the first jet fighter kills ever also. talk about bragging rights.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tuskegee_Airmen - m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -1/+4Yeah maybe in the 70s he had some talent but this movie is being made in 2009.
- DNetExaminer, on 02/28/2009, -1/+4If there are light sabers, I'm in.
- Yage2006, on 02/28/2009, -0/+3Thank you for your generic comment.,
That's gotta be one of the most blatant canned comments I have seen to date. - dbossnirvana, on 02/28/2009, -2/+5Is Chewbacca guest-starring?
- m3arvk, on 02/28/2009, -1/+4He's gone stupid. If you can't tell that your last 4 efforts were all crap then you don't need to be involved in any aspect of the creative process. Period.
Just retire George and spend the extra money you got from licensing Jar Jar Binks to Mattel on something nice. You earned it you giant hack. - Infowarsdotcom, on 02/28/2009, -1/+3I'm pretty sure this movie already exists...
Oh yep JakeBC pointed that out. - dekuscrub, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Are there going to be real actors? I'm picturing a ton of CGI in this.... my instincts are not good.
- fuzzybad, on 03/01/2009, -0/+2Wasn't Howard the Duck the first post Star Wars Lucas film?
- FlyingPhotog, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Looking forward to this film! I got to photograph and meet several of the men a couple of years ago.
http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1296/1249492913_392 ... - inactive, on 02/28/2009, -4/+6But...but...what about Star Wars 7?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jESgJCOAeYw - jagermeistr, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2This films original title was, "The Tuskegee Airmen and the Saucer Men from Mars".
- wcollier, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2Aw, nice.
Maybe he can remake it in 20 years, too. New Graphics. - icodebot, on 02/28/2009, -0/+2What would be a good metaphor for George Lucas producing a film in 2009? Public masterbation?
- DThatsMe, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Don't be so hard on old George. He used to be really talented. He's just gotten lazy and lost his mind.
I'd love to see him get really inspired and do a personal American Graffiti type of movie again. - ezcheezbandit, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Admiral Thron is pleased.
- inactive, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1I'd be interested to see how Samuel L. Jackson would be as a director. Lucas producing doesn't mean much, really.. unless he's planning on ghost-directing it.. which definitely seems like a possibility.
- Amadeus2490, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1"Animated Star Wars movie on the big screen" instantly makes me think of that Clone Wars things they've recently released, and that made me cringe. A lot. However, Mark Hamill's already familiar with voice acting, and he's even done voice acting for Star Wars games, where he's in charge of the academy. I guess they'd have to get sound-a-likes for Han and Leia.
I really would have liked to see a live-action SoTE movie, directed by Irvin Kirshner though. - antdude, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Heh. More Jar Jar Binks? ;P
- GrimChaos, on 02/28/2009, -0/+1Except it is canon.
Lucas Licensing:
"We have what we call Canon, which is the screenplays, novelizations, and other works that are directly tied into continuity, and then there are a lot of marginal things, like the old Marvel Comics series, that we don't really try to work into the continuity when we're planning new projects. Even the LucasArts interactive games have a premise, a backstory with player characters that we're trying to tie into the overall continuity. It is sort of a godlike undertaking. We are creating this universe as we go along, but somebody has to keep his finger on everything that came before." — Allan Kausch, from The Secrets of Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire -
