TTV was not a profitable organization in it's final year. Paul Allen was shoving money into the blackhole that was TTV. He didn't make any profit from it. So the only sensible thing was to sell it. COmcast was the only company that came close to an asking price. Though many of you love it, TTV would not survive on it's own. Just because an old CEO was fired doesn't mean old TTV programming will be returning. I am by no means saying that TTV sucks but that you people should come to terms with the fact that it wouldn't be able to survive on it's own. Comcast merged it with G4 for a reason, so it would still have some life on it. If they left it as a seperate channel it would have died.
The Screen Savers I highly doubt will be coming back nor any of the other TTV programming. TSS was almost dead until it knew it had to switch to a different format. Pretty much all TTV shows that were on G4 earned terrible ratings with X-Play being the only show that could actually get good ratings, if any.

First of all, theres NO WAY Leo, Kevin, Pat, Robert, Erica, Martin (hmmm) would ever go back to G4, no matter who ran the station. The smae shows? maybe... just different hosts. So i hope you're not expecting Pat and Kevin to host TSS if its returned. Or Chris Leary and Erica Hill to host Tech Live.... its just not gonna happen. they're all over the country doing their own things.

- Lynxpro, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1People, Hirschhorn was G4. It was his baby. Now that Comcast finally wised up after wasting $1 billion on this crap channel and kicked him to the curb, it would be rather easy to rename the channel back to TechTV.
For those naysayers, TechTV got better ratings than Bravo when it was still around, which is funny since NBC paid $1 billion for Bravo and Comcast grabbed TechTV for less than $400 million. G4 has never matched TechTV's ratings. The Golf Channel and the TV Guide Channel get better ratings than G4. When the merger happened, what were the highest rated shows on G4TechTV? X-Play, The Screen Savers, and Unscrewed. All were TechTV shows. So to claim that the Whip Set lineup is successful compared to the old TechTV content is nothing more than a joke.
If I were in charge of G4 at this point, I'd quickly rename the channel back to TechTV or something catchy.
Next, I'd immediately cancel Judgment Day and Electric Playground.
Screen Savers would come back.
Unscrewed would come back.
G4TV would be gone. I'd keep Tina Wood but reassign her to something else. AOTS would be cancelled, but again, I'd retain Kevin P. He is funny and quick on his feet, and I think he could make a good "roving reporter" on Unscrewed or a defacto co-host. His edgy comments (can't believe that Captain Stabbin' reference he threw in a few weeks back) are more worthy of Unscrewed than on AOTS.
Filter would be gone, but reassign the host. Hot chicks and tech geeks drooling over them go hand-in-hand. The current host of Cheat could also be reassigned.
I'd fire whoever coined "Barbed Wire Biscuit." Talk about lame!
I haven't decided if I would retain Sarah Lane or terminate her contract. She's good in small bits but generally lame on "The Feed." If ever there needed a segment to be cohosted (and better written), its that.
Don't know if I'd keep Brendan Moran. He's just not Martin Sargent enough.
Which really bugs me. Why is Jon Stewart so damn successful today? The guy is lame. Martin is far funnier than Stewart who has been tired since his first show was on Fox and subsequently cancelled. Although I'd forbid Martin from ever doing another bit of gagging/fake vomiting. That got older more quickly than David Letterman's "got any gum?" routine. But I digress.
What did G4 do better than TechTV? Sponsorships. Its amazing how successful they were at getting corporate sponsorships considering hardly anyone watches the channel. Mesh that successfully with higher rated TechTV content, and you have a profitable channel. G4 also did better makeup work on Laura Swisher during the brief time Unscrewed was on the merged channel. She looked like an absolute goddess then, and I'm not referring to her heavenly chest either.
What to do with Call for Help 2.0. With Leo living in SF and commuting to Canada, it doesn't make for very up-to-date content. But TechTV Canada should be commended on the good job they are doing with it.
And finally, somehow convince Comcast to move the new TechTV down to the basic cable tier in their cable markets. That would do wonders for the ratings and a means to keep viewers from switching over to Dish or DirecTV who also carry the channel in their basic packages. - MuZiKMafia, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I hope they keep brainiac..thats the only show on g4 that I like.....

Product promotion & whoring is so bad on G4 that, outside of X-Play, I don't trust anything anyone says about anything on that channel. Even X-Play has gone down a few notches in that they give very little info about the games. It's mostly about the skits.
I doubt that the channel will change much. Example, there's now another show/series called Fast Lane, I think it is. I saw it on earlier today.
The channel is so far down the crapper that I highly doubt it could be saved by anyone. It doesn't have a clue of what it's supposed to be about (anime? games? tech? T&A?).

I mean online tech content is great but once a week is not upto-date. The tech industry changes daily and i hate having to wait what TWIT has to say about it 6 days from big news. BAck in the cfh and screensavers were perfect up to date... tech tv was perfect.... now all we have in the US any way is a c4h laggin behind 6!!!months.

The wicked old witch is DEAD. Someone at COMCAST finally wised up and realized the totally ***** what was TechTV, and G4 is suffering from it, and didn't gain ANYTHING from the acquisition of TechTV. How could they when the majority of the talent from TechTV were either didn't join in with the transition (Patrick), or left the network after the transition (Kevin), or were just simply fired?
BTW The Screensavers never left G4. Remember they renamed it to "The Attack of The Show" which has to be the most retarded name for a TV show.
Now if they could simply put the network on a NON-Digital channel on Comcast, I'd be ***** happy! The only reason why I got digital cable was to get TechTV, and they killed them, and I dropped my digital cable box. - clubgus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You think G4 TV would stop being stingy/buck passing and bring back Tech TV to Australia, you know Tech TV was only shown in Australia for a couple of months on Austar/Foxtel and most of the time it was reruns and no fresh content how tight is that!! thank God for Tech TV Canada who shares the content with the How To Channel in Australia, but we only get AOTS and C4Help and no other tech shows. A Lesson to be learnt for Tech TV US share your content.
