You know, when you have to post something like "Try not to destroy his server =)", it is irresponsible to not coralize the link before submitting. - SentOne, on 10/12/2007, -3/+0***** rule

- Trjn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The only bad part of this is that they aren't coming back as a series. But any new Futurama works for me.
I wonder when we'll get more "official" word on this (say a press release, or something directly from David X Cohen). - elpayo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0That server got its shiny metal ass bit.

Futurama is teh *****. - matx, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0oops the Servers dead, my finger slipped
- uglymike, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Nice. Not too worried about Futurama not being a TV series again, that makes future DVD releases extra special. Although, if the DVD sells well, it may be the next Family Guy (killed then resurrected)

I would have agreed with you before I bought all the DVDs, but listening to the commentary, it appears that they cut a lot of material in order to cut it down to the 22 odd minutes per episode. Now personally I think this is a good and a bad thing, its bad because some potentially great material gets lost and no one ever hears about it outside of the writer's room or possibly the DVD commentary, but it's also good as a form of quality control. Its very possible that given the opportunity to make it a longer format, they might drop the quality a little, and that's why I would prefer the shorter version of the show than some made for DVD movies.
That being said, I'm still in support of the straight to DVD movies, because Futurama is a great show, and I honestly doubt that the people behind it would let their fans down by putting out sub-par material.
And there is always the problem that the last time something like this was done (Family Guy) we just got three episodes strung together. Things like that stick in people's minds, there is always the chance that they might attempt to make up the time by introducing more plot strains than necessary and thus getting something similar to a few episodes strung together with one or two overriding plot arcs to hold it all together.
I probably contradicted myself there, but I would prefer it to come back as a series at a decent timeslot, so that it can succeed and continue to be made, than to be done like this. - chiefcrazytalk, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Futurama was great, but I fear it's time has passed. Too much time has gone by since it went off the air, and unlike "Family Guy" new eposides don't really seem necessary.
And no, I'm not a troll - just stating my opinion. - Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Family guy got brought back by good DVD sales. As far as I have heard, Futurama DVDs have been selling pretty well, which is responsable for the reintroduction. I think its possible that if the 4 movies do decently, the show might come back to television. On the other hand, I don't know what the various contracts are with Fox, Adult Swim, and Comedy Centeral. Maybe Fox signed away its rights to new episodes, which would give them less motivation to pick it up, and cable networks tend to be poorer than the big guns, so it is more doubtful they would want to restart a major production like Futurama.
- bigredgpk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Hopefully they'll pick up where the series left off... I loved that last episode, but it was soo unfulfilling as a series end-er!!!
Timmay - JoeMittler, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I can get a few posts on billy's site, but not enough to confirm this story. I guess I will have to wait a bit for there not to be so much of a server load...
- MrBungl3, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is great stuff... The Simpsons is starting to smell up the joint!
Futurama is probably the best show around. I mean, how can you NOT like Zoidie? - Dgen_X, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0[insert quote here]
I saw this in the queue last night and ignored it...thinking it was another lame link to imdb or that variety article... - ahhell, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Awesome
