- gwhardyiv, on 07/02/2008, -0/+16I think Maxim just called me an idiot.
Never knew I could sink so low. - cortie, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1211. The Hero must be a misogynist but it is okay because the author will depict all women around him as weak and stupid creatures who cannot survive without the manly hero.
Clause A: Unfortunately, no one will be able to hate said author for this entirely, because
he will be too damn good at what he does. - ThePenrod, on 07/02/2008, -6/+1511. Heroine must always be a prostitute and/or stripper (see: Sin City). If it is a preexisting character who has no known experiences prostituting herself, rewrite the origin to include prostitution (see: Batman: Year One's Catwoman and every female character in the Spirit film).
- Ayavaron, on 07/02/2008, -1/+9While the first three rules are pretty sane, the rest seem to reflect the fact that most of Frank Miller's heroes are just Mary Sue versions of himself and the more he's been empathizing with his distorted and increasingly insane heroes*, the less grip he's got on how to make really good comics.
*For the insane heroes, see All Star Batman & Robin. There are some nice write-ups on his more insane comics over at I-Mockery:

- franklyzappa, on 07/02/2008, -0/+411. The 90's will last forever
12. Green Screen - mrinsanity, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Inconceivable!
- sloo, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Weird article...
I'm actually more curious as to what Miller thinks of The Dark Knight. I would hope he feels lucky to have such good movies made after his works. Sin City, 300, and now his concept and theme for batman being done so well. - movieset2, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Rule 15 (are we up to that one yet?): Milk the publisher for one million bucks in advance to make a sequel to your biggest critical and commercial hit -- then deliver garbage. Or has Maxim just decided to ignore the sequel to "Dark Knight Returns"?
- shadowman99, on 07/02/2008, -0/+3Batman: The Dark Knight, Batman: Year One, Daredevil: Born Again ... some of my all time favorites. The only writer who's reached that gold mark is Alan Moore. 20 years ago I thought Miller walked on water.
Robocop 2, Electra Assassin, Hard Boiled all had me going WTF?
I never got into Sin City. Not my genre.
300 made me read "Gate of Fire", which would have been a far better film.
Even his art style, which was cutting edge and minimalist once upon a time, now seems more like it's simply rushed.
DK2, The Goddamn Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder are "***** You" letters to his fans.
Miller's gone Hollywood. Same as Stan. - theparttime, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2addendum - says "goddamn" alot.
- ZedoMann, on 07/02/2008, -0/+211. If the superhero wears a cape, then said superhero must always be seen with that cape on.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -7/+9"The hero believes in good and evil."
Good, bad, I'm the guy with the gun.
...Remember folks shop smart, shop S-Mart ! - acdcfanbill, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2Well, The Dark Knight has nothing to do with Miller's story, I doubt he cares any more than other random comic adaptations.
- Theisos, on 07/02/2008, -1/+3Oh....now I know why Robocop 2 and 3 sucked so bad. Doh.
- inactive, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2it’s the job of the good guys to kill the bad guys.”
- TruGrave, on 07/02/2008, -0/+2There is nothing Milleresque about the Nolan line. He doesn't yell "I'M THE GODDAMN BATMAN." The movie is also well-written.
- shutaro, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1And you're just going to sit there and take it?!?!
- ZenMojo, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1All-Star Batman & Robin sums up where Miller is at quite nicely, but no book more perfectly describes the evolution of Miller as Dark Knight Returns and DKR2 read one after another.
- robdiggity, on 07/02/2008, -1/+212. The author must look more than just a little like Danny Bonaduce.

- MisterChirish, on 07/02/2008, -2/+3A Frank Miller comic-universe is a dark, violent and sexy comic-universe...
What else could a 15 year old boy want outta his comic book/graphic novel? Without a doubt, Frank Miller's work was some of the best and most compelling storytelling that I grew up on. - MarrowMan, on 07/02/2008, -0/+1agreed and dugg 110%
- ZenMojo, on 07/03/2008, -0/+1"Hail to the King, baby."

- logosx1, on 07/03/2008, -0/+0Or, no one will hate the author because no one really wants to drag cultural/gender Marxism into the picture.
- Scoorn, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Strange yet a pleasure to read!
- MarrowMan, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Frank Miller just kicks ass, I remember His run on Daredevil, it was the best run up until Brian Micheal Bendis
- rjejr, on 07/02/2008, -0/+0Miller's Daredevils are still my all time favorite "superhero" comic books.
- poet, on 07/02/2008, -1/+1Digg effect.
- superkendall, on 07/02/2008, -2/+1I don't think Maxim did. I think Miller did.
