- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 05/07/2009, -3/+18Real women DO love Star Trek. And I love them in return. :)
- PixelMagic, on 05/07/2009, -2/+14Trek chicks rock. I'm glad I married one. Got our tickets for the premiere tomorrow night. She made delta shield cookies in prep for it.
- AngelBunny, on 05/07/2009, -1/+12not necessarily. i like firefly and i don't care for star trek or star wars. (i know, what am I doing on digg, right?)
oh and don't forget battlestar! :D - ToastPop, on 05/07/2009, -1/+10They're called women, they exist outside of your Mom's basement.
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7I love star trek! just for none of those reasons stated.
- boredco, on 05/07/2009, -0/+7You're very brave. A gazillion nerds are about to report your comment as "offensive"!
- FreckleEars, on 05/07/2009, -1/+7It is great that your girl is a geek... but we don't need her account spammed at us. I personally don't give a hooting *****. My girl plays halo, is on Digg daily, loves manga, works in computer repair and maintenance blah blah blah (all the geeky stuff), but I don't ever spam her info. That is just plain stupid.
You just got her a whole bunch of attention that she probably doesn't want. I am going to bury you for her sake. If she does want the attention... she has some issues. - scifigirl, on 05/07/2009, -0/+6Who says women dont like Star Trek?? I happen to be a woman myself and I happen to love Star Trek and ALL things sci fi.
- MissCellania, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Wow. I guessed this was written by a guy, but I was wrong. I loved Star Trek from the first time it aired in the 60s, but for way more reasons than what is listed here -probably for the same reasons so many others, male and female, liked it.
- ViscidGobs, on 05/07/2009, -0/+5Damn near killed 'em.
- geauxtig3rs, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4My wife loves Star Trek, but I think I can thank her father for that one...
We're going tonight at 7 - Logicexe, on 05/07/2009, -1/+5My girlfriend instantly loved Firefly (more than I do I think) but it took a little while for BSG to grow on her. She used to watch TNG and TOS with her dad when she was young so while she's not a huge fan she still likes ST.
- bytor4232fb, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4My wife loves Star Trek, especially The Next Generation. In fact, my whole family, including a tweenie who mostly watches Nick and Disney, will all hunker down in the living room for a rerun or two of TNG. Even my two year old loves Star Trek and shows like it.
The stereotype of women hating Scifi certainly doesn't exist in my house! - plecostomus, on 05/07/2009, -0/+4Even when I was 5 or 6 my mom and I would watch episodes of Star Trek (the newer one with Picard) together. I'm not exactly a Trekkie but I am excited for the movie. :) I went back and watched some of the old movies and they were good too.
- AngelBunny, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3you think so? i'm just being honest lol
- bedake, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3will you marry me?
- charlietuna, on 05/07/2009, -4/+7Not enough endless dialogue about feelings.
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -0/+31 reason you never meet any hot chicks who actually love Star Trek. A good number of intelligent women love that show, and happen to be fine as hell!
- ugacrew, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3Bitchin'! She's probably like me in that she can do the Vulcan greeting with both hands, has read at least 10 StarTrek books, likes the author Peter David, ANNNND has actually spent time in the book store looking that the schematics of the Enterprise NCC-1701D. Yup, I'm a chick and a Trekkie to the core.
- BorsKaegel, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3It is the Nathan Fillion effect.
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3Damn she's hot. You gettin that hot "Trekkie Sex"
- krickett907, on 05/07/2009, -0/+3I was never a huge fan of Star Trek (I absolutely love the [original] Star Wars and Stargate), but my boyfriend really wants to go see the new one... And for him, I will personally buy the tickets.
I don't see things like this as being male/female oriented. I see it as a way for my boyfriend to share his interests with me, and vice versa. - pantsperch, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2I have seen every star trek movie since the ***** one with the whales in the theater on opening weekend. Yeah, including Nemesis.
My coffee mug is a Starfleet Academy mug, and I have a Risa is for Lovers t-shirt. I, however, have never even been remotely tempted to dress up as a character.
Honestly, though, there is a part of me that is kind of sad to see Star Trek movies lose their camp and low budget feel. Not that I feel like people can't be a part of it, the more the merrier, and it could use some de-dorking in general, but now I gottal listen to a bunch of Twilight fans talk about how dreamy Bones is? :(
Still, seeing it on Sunday and I'm stoked. - ThinkBox, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2She doesnt use Digg all that much anymore. I think you have a low threshold of what SPAM is...
She saw too many articles that were very sexist or crude. Didn't like the abrasive and brash community as much. Not very many people willing to think about things rationally and have an intelligent conversation.
She say too many people say ***** or GTFO, so she GTFO'd. - xt0ph3r, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2What if she doesn't care about the attention either way? I think this flowchart is broken.
- fantasyflamz, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2And for some more awesome star trek cakes: http://cakewrecks.blogspot.com/2009/05/trek-throug ...
- wjlaw100, on 05/07/2009, -2/+4/geekon

Thank god I married a trekie babe.
/geekoff - jeremyduffy, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2eh... If you're talking about the original series, I'm a geek and it bores even me! Just a little too far out of my time I guess...
The other series and every even numbered movie (until 9 or so when the odds became good too) were great (not counting DS9) - hokie47, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2My wife and I love Star Trek. We have watched almost every episode together. We both love DS9 and both dislike Enterprise despite faithfully watching every episode of it. We both are going on a "date" tonight to watch the IMAX version of Star Trek. We also were both members of greek organizations in college. You could never tell that we are huge trek fans by looking at us. The type of people who like Star Trek is bigger than you think.
Here is my grooms cake
http://i30.tinypic.com/d8nkl.jpg - boredco, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2Especially where Spock is concerned
- sprNmgcHlmt, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2original star trek is flawless.
- kolinshar, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2That cake is awesome.
"To boldly go" indeed. =) - inactive, on 05/07/2009, -1/+3Damn your typical, you just missed out on a "lot" of sexy, "intelligent" women you Tard! None for you!!!!!
- swizzcheez, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2Actually, I hope not one of those five things will be in the forefront in the new movie. Putting those moralistic, "feel good", non-impactful things above plot, character development, and willingness to deal with the FAULTS of even well intentioned decisions is why I have grown to dislike 75% of the existing franchise.
If the movie ends up being just another shiny vehicle to promote their theory of social utopia then I won't be back for this ride.
If those are just side effects that are up to the viewer to perceive, fine. But if it becomes the focus of the story then something has gone seriously wrong (again). - AngelBunny, on 05/07/2009, -0/+2i watched tng with my father too but never got into it.
bsg i gave up on originally but my ex kept pushing me. he told me season 2 was better. i ended up getting hooked in the end. :) - fantasyflamz, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1And plus, Star Trek: Voyager was great for watching a woman in the role of captain and I found it very good.
- moduc, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1@sktrykeblade1
Agree. I don't love Star Trek myself. However, I never really watch it, so how could I can judge it? Just from the look of it, it seems not the type of movie that I would enjoy. I'll take the pain and watch one to see what's the fuss is all about. - sconvery, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1My first date with my wife was a Star Trek movie and it was her choice. Ten years later we're married and have a son. This Friday is date night. WOO HOO!
- Maria0305, on 05/07/2009, -3/+4All the other chicks I know are going to see Star Trek for the hot guys, or because they're too ***** clingy to let their boyfriend have a night without them to enjoy a movie. And they'll complain about how boring or whatever it was the entire next day. :|
I'm going to see it because I ***** love Star Trek. - angelczek, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1Here's a list of smoking hot Star Trek babes http://www.getback.com/gallery/-star-trek-babes/29 ...
- BlackOculus, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1To bad their love is never returned
/frownieface :-( - rubaaan, on 05/07/2009, -1/+2wow isnt mainstream? since when was something that was adopted by millions NOT mainstream?
gdiaf... from this magic i just casted on you. - thepotatoman, on 05/08/2009, -0/+1This makes since to me. I can fully understand why a lot of people cant get past the old-fashonedness of the original series, and the new series except maybe voyager had it's strengths in the situations rather then relationships and thus lose many of these listed advantages.
But the point of the article is to at least get women to try watching it, since it has been labeled as for basement dwelling lonely male nerds only for quite a while now. - fantasyflamz, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1I am a big star trek fan, although I'm not a fangirl or a trekkie, I just enjoy watching it and I think it has much more character depth than star wars (although I like that too).
- kelpee, on 05/10/2009, -0/+1I like the original Star Trek on rainy days or on days I'm too hung over to get off the couch and find the remote. I am excited for the new movie though.
SciFi in general I love, but I was raised with it. I recently inherited my Grampa's library of sci fi books dating back into the 1920's. Just wow. I've been dipping into Heinlein, Moore, vanVogt, Sprague de Camp and Carter. I'm saving the entire printed works of Asimov until I can devote a whole time frame to them (six months ish). My favorite though are those pulp books that used to be published with a bunch of short stories in them. They're so great! Some of them are so old that their science fiction is blown out of the water by our reality. - namhoCA, on 05/11/2009, -0/+1Congrats! When is she due?
- namhoCA, on 05/11/2009, -0/+12) Matthew McConaughey isn't in it.
- RockMuncher, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1I'm a girl, and a huge geek... and I never really liked Star Trek. I was spoiled by Doctor Who... it may have had the budget roughly the equivalent of buying a sandwich at the local deli every two weeks while star trek budget was huge in comparison, but the writing was incredible (still is) and the actors superb.
My mum, on the other hand loves Star Trek *and* Doctor Who. - zeroepoch, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1The opposite is also true. If you're pushing to watch a Star Trek movie and no one else wants to see it, who is distancing themselves? He prefers to do things that are more *cool* which usually means more popular (doesn't mean better) and therefore a larger audience can relate. As a guy, I find Star Trek and Lord of the Rings boring, but do enjoy movies like The Matrix. I'd rather want a comedy with my wife or an action film with a friend than Sci-Fi.
- inactive, on 05/07/2009, -0/+1All the women I know love voyager. Men, not so much though. I wonder why?
