- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -8/+31and fantastic four was the WORST mainstream comic book movie ever.
- sandburn, on 10/12/2007, -2/+9i totally agree - i always played as Silver Surfer on the playground as a kid... and last week...
i forget though - wasn't he some kind of a god and would only come in when the ***** really hit the fan? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7All they need to do is have Christopher Walken 100 times bigger walking around Manhattan Island.
- 4NDr01D, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7he was already in Terminator 2
what's the big deal ? - coderifous, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6HD trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/
- cannibaljp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+6yeah - i'm a comic book dork, but i'm psyched for this...
now if stan lee would just return my calls about that moon knight script i sent him.
stan? are you out there, stan? - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5a little innaccurate, the link is to the movie page for the movie "The Silver Surfer"- a spinoff, even though he will be in the new fantastic four
- taotehue, on 10/12/2007, -9/+13Silver Surfer was the BEST mainstream comic book ever.
- howski, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4Dude, the most recent Punisher movie is among the better comic book movies. It only sucks if you think John Travolta deserves better (I don't and he doesn't).
- readme, on 10/12/2007, -4/+8Love the character. Losing sleep over how bad he will be CG-amtized.
- doggowar, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4fantastic four, while not a great movie by any means, is far from the worst comic book movie. just off the top of the head: catwoman, x3, daredevil, elektra, mask 2. my biggest problem with ff is how doom turned out. he inspired vadar's costume and has probably the best costume in comics, yet his own in the movie is so...lackluster. a cool doom would have saved the movie.
- Lumiras, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4I'm still a bit on the fence about this. As far as characters in the Marvel Universe go, Silver Surfer is not one of the most interesting. I saw the trailer in the theatre, and while it was nice to see Johnny chase Silver Surfer around, I wasn't all to impressed
The only way they could really knock this one out of the park is if they include Galactus. If they don't have Galactus, then they are obviously betraying the entire lineage of the Silver Surfer and just focusing on how shiny he is - ipxodi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5Dear god, do we really need to have a sequel or spinoff to one of the worst movies of the last couple of years. Even Jessica Alba's, umm... "attributes" couldn't save that movie.
- BevansDesign, on 10/12/2007, -1/+5I read on RT that he'll be mostly live-action, with some CG effects to back him up. They must be using the same shiny material they used to make the Colossus costume in X-Men 3. What is that stuff, anyway?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to this. The first movie wasn't great, but it was enjoyable. And comic book sequels always surpass the original.
I can't wait to see Galactus in action. - mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+4u forgot Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Punisher (twice), Hulk...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Enjoy this 'buzz' while you can, folks. Once it's released, everyone will be reminded in a flash of horrid scripting how bad the first movie was, and why they didn't learn their lesson.
- kickarse, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Kinda like woman and PMS right?
- FormerRushFan, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5The only thing I can image they could improve over the first movies are the plot, dialog and characters, and well, everything except the special effects, which were surprisingly good (all CGI).
I couldn't BELIEVE how sophomoric the first movie was, esp Johnny "impulse control problems" Storm, the motor cycle jumping, etc. It felt like a little kids movie, while I was expecting the F4 to be the more mature of comic book adaptions.
The whole timid-Reed Richards arc was TOTALLY out of touch with the comic, and I saw NO chemistry between he and the always hot Jessica Alba.
To CGI the Silver Surfer, however, is going to be a piece of cake, however. They pretty much did that in Terminator II, and it comes as no surprise to me.
The way they mangled the first one, however, I won't be surprised if they write Galaxus out of the story. - reyitocazador, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Nice work. Who cares about the Yahoo summary?
- JesusIsSatan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I guess he'll look like The Terminator (Robert Patrick) in molten form. Let's see what a decade adds to CGI effects.
- kitchung, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3@Ghstfce
Aunt Flo the next new super hero? - jtavo100, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Sandburn is right. In the comics Silver Surfer has god like levels of strength and energy (he can fly faster than the speed of light!). Silver Surfer plots don't really work on Earth, he's like Superman, he can lift up a montain if he needs to which makes it hard to find a good fight for him. I wonder if they will tone him down for this movie.
I'm curious to see how they will do Galactus. - Hypermarkalan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2No. That wouldn't work. Galactus isn't evil incarnate.
- HappyScrappy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Wow. A "leak" and an astroturf in one day. It's almost like a coordinated media blitz was started today...
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2Woohoo... more effects-driven superhero moviemaking. I'll be camped out for this weeks in advance.
/sarcasm - craftyshrew, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2After watching Pirates 2 this weekend and seeing where CGI should be, he looks like a rip off of the T-1000. I'm not overly impressed.
- inkswamp, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2> I think the upcoming Wonder Woman movie is going to be a dud
Given that the script isn't even finished yet, I have to wonder why you think this. I generally hate superhero movies, but WW has me interested since Joss Whedon is writing and directing it. He tends to focus on the characters which, IMO, is the only possible way to make a movie like that interesting--especially noawadays when mind-blowing effects are becoming commonplace. - DonCarcharo, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3My wife and I were having a discussion two days ago regarding the the upcoming Transformers movie. I'm a huge Transformers fan so I had to explain to her my need to see the movie even though I fully expect it to be horrible. In my defense I said, "I liked two things growing up - Transformers and the Silver Surfer. And let's face it, they're never going to make a Silver Surfer movie. So this is my only chance to revisit my childhood. It's my one bad movie pass."
This appeased her enough to agree to eventually see the Transformers. I suspect I'm going to need an entirely new line of reasoning if I intend to see the new Fantastic Four movie. - AlphAssassin, on 10/12/2007, -4/+6like the human torch?....or mr fantastic....or that retarded looking "thing".....
- jrchin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This is available on apple quicktime now: http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/fantasticfourriseofthesilversurfer/
- kidzucchini, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1I'd prefer another look at Sue Storm.
- ampersand2001, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2I'm interested to see how they tie galactus into this one. I'm sure it's going to be awful.
Just be honest to the comic book and you can't go wrong. come on. - Ghstfce, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Moon Knight wasn't a bad character, only bad thing is he is only strongest what once a month? Kinda sucks having to judge your power by the lunar cycle.
- kmb1794, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1Ok, yeah. I'm reeled in.
- JesusIsSatan, on 10/12/2007, -1/+1I think the upcoming Wonder Woman movie is going to be a dud unless you're just watching it to jerk off to. Too many comic book characters coming to the big screen. I'm a big fan of sci-fi and such, but it looks like the target audience is 8-12 year olds.
- Ghstfce, on 10/12/2007, -14/+10Please tell me that there was heavy /sarcasm in that comment. Silver surfer was the worst possible idea for a superhero since Aquaman. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges here (Marvel and DC) but seriously. I know everyone's entitled to their opinion, and I respect that.
- greymaxcat, on 10/12/2007, -7/+2This was on AICN a week ago.... LAME
- Brocclibob, on 10/12/2007, -12/+3^^^ i wholeheartedly agree.
