Some people were saying it was really short, but I think it was just the right length. It's like a blair witch with a budget.

Calling something a classic before it isn't released is kind of premature and presumptuous. I expect something like Snakes on a Plane...a fun, over hyped flick that entertains but doesn't particularly excel.

    Either way I saw it last night and sure it was fun but I wouldn't call it a classic. More like Blair Witch 2008 if it were directed by Michael Bay.

    At least when i lower my expectations and don't believe the hype, i may be pleasantly surprised once in a while instead of bitterly let down most of the time

  • Informacity, on 01/16/2008, -5/+14This is all something to hype a not so good movie....this is a marketing ploy. I saw the movie last night....Monster is cool, but it isn't a monster movie. It's a movie about a group of friends who happen to be in NY when a monster attacks....The handheld footage is the whole movie and while it's a cool concept, that's all it is.

    I went with a group of friends and the consensus was that it was too short, not monster-oriented, not story oriented.....the only thing it did well was use unique camera angles and keep your heart racing until the disappointing end.

    It's kinda like going to a strip club and getting all excited but no happy ending....

    DON'T BUY INTO THE HYPE!!! and DON"T GIVE THE CORPORATIONS MORE MONEY......IT'S NOT WORTH THE HYPE.

    With that much camera shake I'm hoping they offer up barfbags. Even when watching the trailers, I hadn't seen camera shake this bad since Blair Witch. I'm hoping there are some good steady scenes to offset the utter insanity of the free-held camera.
