The story and imagery were perfect material for Burton and who better to play Willy Wonka than Depp? That movie turned out to be a huge letdown, imo. I was hoping for a dark and beautiful movie that captured the twisted grimness of the original, but it ended up being shallow crap and one of Burton's worst movies. Depp's interpretation of the character was bizarre and didn't compare to Wilder's. I have similar hopes for Alice in Wonderland, but I fear that this will be a repeat letdown. I hope they prove me wrong.

    regardless, i still think american mcgee's version of alice is the best yet. really wish that movie would be made.

    I can see a little Elijah Wood with the smile, the cheeks and the crazy tiny eyes.

    I can see a little Boy George with the flamboyance.

    But what I mostly see is a very gay china doll that will make pre-teen emo boys and girls jizz in their pants and want to emulate for the next decade or two until they're forced to go work at Tim Horton's or Dunkin Donuts by their disgusted parents.
