- AmyVernon, on 10/21/2008, -0/+40Destined to be totally wacked out, given that it's Terry Gilliam. Can't wait to see it.
- casbboy, on 10/21/2008, -2/+38Sigh. RIP Heath...
- leelu, on 10/21/2008, -0/+30I hear that Heath has a great performance in his last film. I will watch the film just because of him.
- Rollic, on 10/21/2008, -0/+15I don't know that this is the first Ledger picture from Parnassus - some eerie shots of him hanging by a noose from a bridge were released right before he died - but a cool shot anyway. Makes me really look forward to the movie and hope that Gilliam returns to his Brazil/Time Bandits roots.
- inactive, on 10/21/2008, -0/+13Glad we get one more performance, but this is just another reminder of how sad and awful it is that he's left us.
- jeuhrn, on 10/22/2008, -0/+10You're not familiar with Terry Gilliam, are you?
- drlha, on 10/22/2008, -0/+9Whenever I see the title of this movie I can't help but think of the Troy McClure movie "The Contrabulous Fabtraption of Professor Horatio Hufnagel".
- seattlegirluw, on 10/21/2008, -0/+9Should be interesting, with those two guys at the helm.
Still, it's depressing to remember that such a talented guy is no longer with us. - StrangeFamous, on 10/22/2008, -0/+7Um... have you seen 12 Monkeys? Fear And Loathing In Las Vegas? He made those after The Fisher King.
- whoreable, on 10/22/2008, -3/+8Nobody gave a ***** about this guy till he died.
- drlha, on 10/22/2008, -0/+4Oh come on, Terry Gilliam is not on the top of his game recent, agreed, but to suggest that this will be akin to the Street Fighter movie is pure crap.
- StrangeFamous, on 10/22/2008, -0/+3I don't see how it could be overrated, since it's such a unique and original story and it's done really well. It might have been over-exposed because of all the oscar buzz, but I think it deserves the praise it gets.
It's definitely one of those movies you have to watch several times to fully understand, but personally, I like those kinds of films (like the films of David Lynch). Being able to absorb the entire experience in one sitting isn't always a good thing. - skywake, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2As a West Australian.... ***** you
- drlha, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2Ah prescription drugs: the acceptable face of drug abuse.
- njunderground, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3yeah there have been shots for months AND a trailer was released.
- Insert31990, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I, like many, didn't give a ***** until I saw his performance in The Dark Knight. From that point on I was hooked.
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I've been dying for another awesome Gilliam film since Fear and Loathing. I hope this is it.
- Ladon, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2This is not the first image...

Those came out in January, although I guess they weren't official stills. But specifically, this photo is not the first of him in the film, simply the first official still... however I do recall some more official stills with him in them, can't seem to find them though. - SierraAlpha, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2He looks kind of like Edward Norton in this photo :S.
- Sraza, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2The movie sounds awesome. I read a book when I was a child that had a lot of morality stories about people trying to trick the devil. I really enjoyed it.
- Snoosy, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2I agree. There's far more celebrities I care about dying than Heath Ledger. He was an average actor at best.
Of course, him as the Joker was a great performance and a great way to go out on top. - sandiegodude, on 10/22/2008, -1/+3You do know he died on an accidentally lethal mixture of prescribed medications from different doctors, right? Drug abuse didn't come into play at all, as it was officially declared an accidental overdose as the cause of death. It was a mistake on the part of doctors not tracking what had already been prescribed to him, which is a pretty common occurrence in the U.S.

Do your homework before you compare him to a crack addict hobo next time. - Mujokan, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2My gut feeling is that he was gaming the prescriptions and screwed up by taking too many with the same effect.
But that surely doesn't make me think any less of him. He was divorced and separated from his kid. I am in no position to judge anyone else on the score of trying to escape reality. - geekzapoppin, on 10/22/2008, -0/+2That didn't turn out to be the case. Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell came in to finish the role. It worked because the story structure was such that it involved traveling through different worlds allowing the character to be played by different actors. Certainly not the original intention, but Gilliam seems to think it turned out okay in the end. All of the above-mentioned actors are donating their salaries to help take care of Ledger's daughter.
- SDL486, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1This is not the first photo of Heath Ledger in Doctor Parnassus.
- bubba9999, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2not really a trailer - semi-teaser.
- jeuhrn, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Can't you just watch Brazil over and over? De Niro's 'stache makes me giggle.
- FreakinRepublic, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1anyone else see the other article about Gilliam finishing it with CG Heath?? wtf is he thinking if he does that?
http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/01/29/terry-gilliam- ... - rsbryswrrl, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1Creepy - yet cool...
- rowlodge, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1true, just noticed him in a lot of films lately, not a really extraordinary actor.
- Emilio8605, on 10/22/2008, -0/+1Speak for yourself. I was interested in his career since A Knights Tale. Then he followed up with The Patriot and a short but powerful role in Monster's Ball and I knew I'd like the movies he made for the rest of his career.
EDIT: My mistake. The Patriot was before A Knights Tale. That's just the order I saw them in. - arapro, on 10/23/2008, -0/+1Tonight you're all gonna be part of a social experiment
- jonshipman, on 10/22/2008, -1/+2They said it was accidental overdose. In an interview weeks prior to his death he went on about getting only 3 hours of sleep a week and being really overworked. Being sleep deprived is worse than being drunk, reasoning goes out the window. He jsut wanted to go to sleep and so he took pills. He might not have known how many he took -
Rest in peace sweet prince. - inactive, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1or until they saw the trailer to TDK
- Emilio8605, on 10/22/2008, -2/+2The poor shmuch on the street doesn't have limitless talent that hasn't been realized when they OD shortly before one of the most brilliant performances in the history of cinema. That's the difference.
- noclss2000, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1After reading the review, it definitely seems like a movie you have to be on something to "get" so I will probably not go and see it.
However, even with the strange plot, it will be a huge hit in the box office for the fact that it is Heath Ledger's last film and everybody will want to see it just for that. - FreakinRepublic, on 10/22/2008, -2/+2can't the same be said about The Dark Knight? just because it's based on a comic doesn't mean they made him any less sick and demented. TDK was way darker than this movie sounds like. why so serious son?
- yodasama, on 10/22/2008, -1/+1Who the heck said he was a drug addict? He just took a bad combination of prescription and over the counter drugs.
He might even have survived if not for his maid making some really bad calls... - Jmz360, on 10/23/2008, -0/+0Yes he did. Johnny Depp, Jude Law and Colin Farrell will all play the same part as Heath Ledger did (Tony). The idea is, they will play "physically transformed" versions of the character.
- sgerwel1985, on 10/23/2008, -0/+0Really depressing to keep having this be brought around all the time. Truly an unfortunate and untimely death of a very successful and nice human being.
Correct me if i am wrong, but he died during filming this correct? I mean i am under the impression he did not finish the video. - jkahrs595, on 10/22/2008, -2/+1The description of that movie makes me, in no way, want to see it.
- Shakermaker, on 10/22/2008, -2/+1I stand corrected - Far and Loathing was brilliant. I got my dates wrong!!
!2 Monkeys was seriously overrated. - Wodle, on 10/22/2008, -3/+1nice
- lewystud, on 10/22/2008, -3/+1Wish they would have just canned it and let TDK be his final act
- inactive, on 10/22/2008, -8/+4Why do we insist on idolizing someone that basically had everything and gave it away? Do we idolize the poor shmuch in the street OD'ed and had nothing?
He was a drug addict no? there is no excuse for not knowing that drugs can cause this. It amazes me that meth heads dont realize that you stand a 99% chance of getting addicted to meth and having your life ruined if you try it.
Na, I'll be in that 1%.......jeez! - Shakermaker, on 10/22/2008, -5/+1Given that Terry Gilliam hasn't made a decent film since the Fisher King, Heath Ledger appearing in this will be akin to Raul Julia's last film.
Sad. It's too bad that Dark Knight wasn't his last film. - divinediva, on 10/22/2008, -8/+3This film sounds like a bit of a mess.
- biggerapple3am, on 10/22/2008, -8/+3Wow, after reading the premise of that movie, I see why he killed himself.
- mcdropkicker, on 10/21/2008, -10/+4MMMM, Heath... MMM, toffee...
- Wodle, on 10/22/2008, -12/+5I know its sad that he died.but he was a drug addict, no-one has sympathy for the homeless drug addict who hasn't died but will spend millions promoting a man who overdosed on drugs and died leaving behind a little girl. Priorities people
