- csiunatc, on 07/18/2008, -2/+9$1... Wish I would have been there at the time... wonder what its worth today..
- YoctoYotta, on 07/19/2008, -0/+6It should be noted, as is says in the first paragraph of the article, the car was in it's pre-Batmobile-state when it sold for $1. I'm not saying a $1 concept car isn't badass, but it had no historical value at the time.
- kevman459, on 07/18/2008, -3/+17Oh man, if only I had been around back then. I would have paid AT LEAST 2 bucks for it.
- sipps, on 07/19/2008, -0/+48Probably just put $1 on the title to save on sales tax.
- digglet08, on 07/19/2008, -8/+2I would have preferred this one in the movie
- Fergi, on 07/19/2008, -0/+6Any other details? Ehh?
- JohnnyMarr, on 07/19/2008, -10/+1That's pretty incredible if you ask me.

- D3koy, on 07/19/2008, -0/+46Guys, I used to have bedsheets with blueprints for a batmobile on them... we could totally make our own
- rdhazrd, on 07/19/2008, -0/+13By "used to" to you mean they're in the wash? Mine are.
- thebrinkman, on 07/19/2008, -7/+3The first licensed batman film featured the dark knight working as an FBI agent because audiences were deemed not ready vigilantism by hollywood. for that reason i tend to ignore most early batman merchandise.
like really? batman working under J. Edgar Hoover? - Flushnasty, on 07/19/2008, -9/+6Dear god I thought the batman ***** was finally over with

- Reiben, on 07/19/2008, -1/+6I think they paid $1 for their site design as well..... And even that was a rip off.
- ProtossCraft, on 07/19/2008, -0/+6THATS NOT THE BATMOBILE! ITS THE HOMER!
- gaoshan, on 07/19/2008, -3/+1I read "First Fapmobile..." and now I am admitting that in this comment. I am a sad, sad man.
- HisNameIsChris, on 07/19/2008, -2/+1The people who built it by hand failed big time.
- UltramegaOK, on 07/19/2008, -5/+4THAT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!!
- JakeBC, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2George Barris made some awesome customs. Here's a link to George's site on the Batmobile:
http://www.barris.com/gallery_cars/TV_MovieCars/ga ... - ThePwnyExpress, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3i just got back from seeing the much cooler dark knight batmobile that puts this one to shame
- RRJackson, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2I grew up hoping to one day drive one of these. ;-)
- Pusod, on 07/19/2008, -4/+4NOT TRUE!!! shenanigans!!! URBAN LEGEND! false!
http://www.snopes.com/risque/homosex/batman.asp - Dwebtron, on 07/19/2008, -3/+2I no longer question how the United State's automotive industry put itself in such a sad state...
- cambob76, on 07/19/2008, -2/+1I wonder if future Batmobiles will make the recent was look retarded too.
- wolferz, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Only when they start flying...
- rolf, on 07/19/2008, -0/+5Back when a $1 had value, that's what Ron Paul would say! j/k :P
Googling an inflation calculator, $250k back then is almost $1.7M in today's money0.o- RationalXubrnce, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2 There's no way that thing cost them much to mod out. Give Jesse James the glass and the car and they can build that thing in one Monster Garage episode. Methinks they were cooking their books.
- eclectro, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2The car was not a batmobile before it sold for $1. If the guy would have not bought it, it would have not been used as the batmobile.
- RRJackson, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2Yeah, but owning THE Lincoln Futura wouldn't exactly be a crappy deal, either. It had been on display at auto shows and on TV and even in a Debbie Reynolds movie already. The world kinda knew it was a cool car. ;-)
- Rickler, on 07/19/2008, -3/+5Why do so many people have a nostalgia for what is considered the worst incarnation of batman EVER.
- RationalXubrnce, on 07/19/2008, -0/+3 Because for what it was it was great.
- mdcraig62, on 07/19/2008, -1/+1say what you will, as cool and awesome as the 'tumbler' is, this is THE Batmobile. At least for those of us who grew up watching Batman as it was first broadcast.
- Gonasadude, on 07/19/2008, -0/+2That care came to a car show near my town. I had my picture taken while sitting in the driver's seat. :)
- , on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Looks good for that period.
- Defuser, on 07/19/2008, -2/+0Buried as yet more Bat Spam. Yes, we get it. Batman is, for you people, a substitute for a sex life.
- headband, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1forget the batmobile...I want to know how he got a concept car for $1 and how I can get on that list
- Theod48, on 07/19/2008, -0/+1Im from a small town near chicago, and across from my elementary school there was I think a Marathon gas station. I ***** you not, I guess one of the owners had this Batmobile in the Repair garage. I never saw it move but walking home from school I would see the back end in that garage. I dunno what happend to it, the Marathon closed years ago, but it was very exciting to see that as a little kid.
