- mccarron, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2The article originally said Alec actually, so kal-el was just copy/pasting that info from the article. So don't blame him too much for the slip up. Cinematrical has since fixed that slip up.
- Durrok, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Anyone else hate how on the Firefly DVD you can't just select "Play all"?
Anyway, it's Firefly so MUST DIGG MUST PURCHASE PRODUCT - LocalScope, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Recently saw the series + movie over a weekend.
digg++ anything of this series - deadlychicken, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1FTA: "The doc was hosted by Adam Baldwin..." not Alec.
- meus, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1YAY! Go firefly!
- fonebone, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1This article coming to the Digg front page soon :)
- Massif, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1On a slightly unrelated note, has everyone seen Mosquito???
http://mosquitoverse.com/ - LioConvoy, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1It's Adam Baldwin, not Alec. Geez.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1MORE FIREFLY STORIES!
(i like it) - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Firefly story? Ill digg it. Thanx
- MicahC, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Adam Baldwin is NOT one of the Baldwin brothers. He made that clear on the Firefly Series DVD.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1+duggg and preordered.
- Robinh66, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Shiny! Pre-ordered last fall!
- ookiineko, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1saw it on friday at WonderCon in San Francisco and it was awesome!
really nice to finally see all the fans that did all they could to make the big damn movie a reality - lmarso, on 04/16/2009, -1/+1I have purchased DVDs that I almost certainly would otherwise have rented to help bring back, or keep alive, Firefly.
Now, it sounds like Joss has thrown in the towel on keeping Firefly alive.
So why buy?
I hope he delivers a quality product, here. But I hope he understands that many dedicated fans/buyers will rent here, not buy.
I'll be shocked and disappointed if stories circulate ... "it might come back!" just before this DVD launches. I've grown cynical about Joss. - HMTKSteve, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0This is old news. the "Done the Impossible" DVd has been in production for over a year and has had massive press play in the Firefly community.
- Fourwinds, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thoroughly enjoyed both the Firefly series and Serenity, and own both. It seems possible that it may continue through a TV movie or at least comic books published by Dark Horse, but I don't think we'll be seeing it on the Big Screen again. I think the television format worked better; the movie was decent (it's grown on me) but its best moments do not rival those of the TV series, IMHO. From what I read on their website, it's not being created to make a few quick bucks, but for the enjoyment of everyone who appreciated the show. It's being put together by fans of the series, not by Mutant Enemy.
From the creators' web site: http://www.donetheimpossible.com/about.php
"The creators of FireflyMovie.com (a.k.a. SerenityMovie.net) have teamed with with a group of creative professionals / Firefly fans to tell our story, the fan's story - the story of the Browncoats.
Firefly has grown beyond just the genius of Joss Whedon -- just as he intended it to. In many ways the words Firefly and Browncoat have come to symbolize a sense of community, family, and believing that the impossible can be accomplished. These concepts are at the very heart of Firefly and of its fans.
In this documentary, the fans explain what inspired them to become passionate about Firefly, to help save Firefly, attend shindigs, participate in message boards, donate to charities, and become Serenity extras. They talk about the many ways that Firefly has affected their lives. Cast and crew also share humorous and insightful experiences with the fans.
The creators of "Done the Impossible" are passionate about charity and using Firefly as a vehicle to effect positive change. As such, a percentage of the DVD proceeds will be donated to Joss Whedon's favorite charity, Equality Now." - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Adam Baldwin is TOTALLY HOT and I'd pay an extra $50 if the DVD has him naked.
- DisposableRob, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Yeesh, at this point they're just milking a dead franchise for money because they know fans will buy anything. I fully expect "Firefly: The Next Generation" 20 years down the road.
- Crashwithuhk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't see anywhere on here how its a plot to bring back the show so I wonder why people are trying to ram it into the ground saying the show is dead.
Dead or Alive i'll be buying because I'm a huge fan and it's something I would like to own.
Personally I would be looking forward to seeing Serenity come back in comic book form since that seems like the kind of thing more likely to happen then TV or Movies at this point. - jmaze, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ADAM Baldwin. Not Alec. He's a douche.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"For those that don't know, Adam Baldwin is the progeny of Alec's Dad and a sushi waitress."
Is that why they spoke with a spattering of Chinese in the show?
:P - sukilynn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0How exciting! Looking forward to it... Have to own EVERYTHING Firefly related...
- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well at least this will have some more special features....I thought both the movie and tv show were a little light on both..
- mjswan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0digg + 1 for firefly.
Don't give up on another Serenity film, Joss. Remember, someone managed to push Caddyshack 2 through the sequel machine... :) - diskopo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0He's not a Baldwin brother. And it is Adam, you know, Jayne, that's hosting it.
- Jozer99, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Just so everybody knows, I looked it up, and despite the similar names, Alan and Alec Baldwin are not related in the least (besides being of the same species). If you want proof, check out the Alec Baldwin page on IMDB, near the bottom.
- vibri2001, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Alec Baldwin = F.A.G." Isn't he supposed to be living in Canada now, what a liar.
- Macc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I agree. Awesome.
- Macc, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"Face it, it's over. They only make documentaries about dead things. And Firefly, bless his soul and those soulless Fox execs, is 6 feet under the ground, and 1mm deep in each of our lovely DVDs."
Everyone already knows Whedon says there won't be another season, its old news. It's just a documentary about the show being made into a movie. - qwesto, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Awesome. Adam Baldwin rocks.
- muikano, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I'm a big Firefly fan but enough is enough. Too much accessories, not enough movie. If ever there was a final nail to the Serenity coffin, this would not be it but a great INDICATOR.
Face it, it's over. They only make documentaries about dead things. And Firefly, bless his soul and those soulless Fox execs, is 6 feet under the ground, and 1mm deep in each of our lovely DVDs. - SBelyea, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Thank goodness.. Alec Baldwin = F.A.G.
Adam Baldwin might be ok though. - Oatmeal, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0arec bawin
i'm so roh-reee - diggdeeznutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0another documentary?...spend the time and money for another movie!
- mfalkon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0sweet
- OBKenobi, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
Thank goodness.. Alec Baldwin = F.A.G.
Adam Baldwin might be ok though.
OMG, an Adam Baldwin fan? I didn't think they existed! Now wonder you like Firefly, you must love anything that's mediocre.
Adam Baldwin. LOL! Yes, I think they found the perfect host for the Firefly documentary. - andrewlargeman, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0The documentary itself, while hosted by Adam Baldwin (well, parts hosted by him, anyways), was not in any way produced by Joss or Universal. This is a fan documentary, chronicling the amazing story of a cancelled TV show that, somehow, became a movie.
So Joss's intentions to make another film has nothing to do with this documentary. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Newsflash:
Team America was not funny. Why associate that with Alec Baldwin? Why not Glengarry Glen Ross references? "3rd prize is your fired." Or, how about Schweaty Balls? You can't go wrong with 'Scweaty Balls" - spyres, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1Amazing the ways these folks figure out how to drag front page spam concerning firefly/serenity.
It's dead for a reason folks. Time to let it go. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Hah. Awesome. Crap. Give it up already.
- sneakerelph, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0arec barrwin...
YOU CAN"T OUTACT ME BOY! - dfekke, on 10/12/2007, -2/+1It bombed, Get over it.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0So when are we going to do the thing that killed firefly and serenity and post links to torrents of this doc?
- odin, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0when can i download it
- arunforce, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0Dugg...
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0
For those that don't know, Adam Baldwin is the progeny of Alec's Dad and a sushi waitress. - turgiddahlia, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0Most pointless thing ever.
- inactive, on 10/12/2007, -2/+0
Why is it that everytime I see the word "Browncoat" I envision a geek with a "shat" covered coat? -
