"A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away..." - twiztidsinz, on 07/10/2009, -3/+28Does "History of the World: Part I" count?
- Gravey9, on 07/10/2009, -0/+15Wow that was boring.
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+14Conan the Barbarian... 15,000-11,000 BCE
- Astark, on 07/10/2009, -5/+17Requisite nerd "There was no year 0 AD" comment.
- gvlax50, on 07/10/2009, -4/+13You do realize that the list is films that took place BEFORE 0 AD. Year One would be after 0 AD, hence it's not on the list.
- merreborn, on 07/10/2009, -2/+11TFA says _notable_ films, not schlock
- bwjacket, on 07/10/2009, -1/+8"I'm Spartacus"
- Killian35, on 07/10/2009, -0/+7Where is Caveman?
- holzy44, on 07/10/2009, -2/+9can't beleive they skipped the low hanging fruit " 10,000 BC"
- inactive, on 07/10/2009, -0/+6Actually, wouldn't '0 AD' technically be year 1? There's no '0' year. You wouldn't say, 'oh, my bill is due 01/01/0000 .. would you??
- MrSketch, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6Time line error? It mentions that scholars estimate that Moses received the tablets from God around 1440BC (for the movie The Ten Commandments), then later for Prince of Egypt, it says that scholars estimate that Moses was born around 1100BC.
Edit: Looks like someone in the article comments already posted that error:
http://www.moviefill.com/Notable-Films-That-Took-P ... - DonAlfred, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6I see they forgot a lot of movies. What a crappy timeline. Buried.
- jordantneff, on 07/10/2009, -1/+6Noteable? The Scorpion King is on there! I'm sorry but if you're including a movie that features an end fight featuring THIS: http://www.ankurb.info/wp-content/uploads/2008/07/ ...
Then I don't see why they shouldn't include 10,000 BC. - Alkal1ne, on 07/10/2009, -2/+6Battlstar Galactica.....
*Cry* - EpicSelekta, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4As long as we're counting the opening scene to Space Odyssey, let's throw in Bill And Ted's Excellent Adventure, when they go to get Socrates (~400BC)
- psion01, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4But ... How long ago is "a long time ago"? Perhaps Star Wars took place in 100 AD?
- EpicSelekta, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4Don't get saucy with me, Bearnaise.
- CaptZomborg, on 07/10/2009, -0/+4I was confused by this too. The creator used the words "scholars" and "bible scholars" I'm not sure where the info is coming from, but I'd like to know why these dates are mixed up.
- netneutrality, on 07/10/2009, -1/+5Years go from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. No such thing as 0 A.D!
- Pxtl, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3That was the first thing I noticed.
I assume the idea is that they're saying that, historically, the man who received the 10 Commandments and the man who led the Hebew people out of Egypt were two different men. Otherwise, they're saying Moses lived negative four hundred years. - merreborn, on 07/10/2009, -1/+4These guys just wish they were dan meth:
http://www.flickr.com/photos/danmeth/3622630715/ - AgentD, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3There are movies in there chronicling the same "events" like Prince of Egypt and The Ten Commandments, and Helen of Troy and Troy, so why are they set in different time frames?
- RawOysters, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3"Clan of the Cave Bear" should be on here. Nothing better than Daryll Hannah getting drilled from behind while bending over drinking water from a stream.
- padd0016, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3No guesses on Army of Darkness?
/Ash, Housewares - earthforce1, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3What about Battlestar Galactica? Didn't they renounce technology and settle on a primative earth? I suppose technically it was a TV series, not a film, but still nicely fits into the timeline.
They could have included the 1966 film "The Bible" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0060164/ which ran out of money after they filmed the book of Genesis.
Around 0 AD it gets pretty crowded with all of the time of Jesus films they surprisingly omitted: (Last Temptation, Ben Hur, Life of Brian, etc. ) - cheerfulcynic, on 07/11/2009, -0/+3um, except that it did, in the bottom right corner?
- skipvt, on 07/10/2009, -0/+3I'm Spartacus!

- oriondr, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2"..follows four young Athenian lovers and their interactions with the Greek god Theseus, among other mythical creatures. According to Greek myth, Theseus lived around 1,000 B.C."
A god.. lived.. 1000 BC? I think you did it wrong. - EthylAdded, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2To get you back into the theater to see "Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs" one more time.
Fox Marketing Machine -> Movie Fill -> Digg. - ZombieSociety, on 07/10/2009, -1/+3That's not sarcasm. That's you trying to cover up a ***** comment by claiming it was sarcasm.
- deltageek, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2They counted 2001: A Space Oddyssey, so I'd say yes.
- kernel16, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2I was so pissed off they screwed up 10000 BC... How can you fail a movie with Saber Tooths, Mammoths, and Cavemen!? HOW GOD DAMN IT!?
- Culyt, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2@newbill123:
Well its in a galaxy far, far away, the closest galaxy (the Canis Major Dwarf Galaxy) is 24,983 light years away from earth.
Of course it might have taken place 24,983 years ago since it was a long long time ago too. Which would mean its happening now (from our perspective). - newbill123, on 07/11/2009, -0/+2As long as the Star Wars galaxy is more than 2009 light years away, we're okay. It might even be in the public domain by then!
- lfroker, on 07/10/2009, -0/+2I don't even know where that would be on this list.
- antdude, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1http://images.dailyfill.com/d80c3673c0b54b3f_a4cc3 ... for the direct link!
- Zenophon, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1I'm Spartacus!
- Culyt, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1BSG wasn't a film, it was a series. Also the article says 'notable' films.
- Cannonballkid, on 07/10/2009, -9/+10Thank goodness Year One isn't on the list.
- kirbyriw, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1It does say notable films, not credible ones. Half of those were garbage, as was 10,000 BC.
- guy6600crazy, on 07/10/2009, -0/+1The Scorpian king?
- ncooprider, on 07/10/2009, -2/+3I like how 10 Commandments and Prince of Egypt didn't happen at the same time. Oh, er, wait a minute. . .
- prettyawesome, on 07/10/2009, -3/+4Yes, but why do we care?
- HawkieEyes, on 07/11/2009, -0/+1Yup, everything would be before 0 AD, because it hasn't happened yet?
