We got a winner. - Hawkeye05, on 06/18/2008, -12/+163Holy *****, that was steeped in epic.
- MadOgre, on 06/19/2008, -3/+101Sloan - Ass to ass!
- Maryus, on 06/19/2008, -4/+72To everyone saying this is Requiem for a Tower, you are wrong. This song called Lux Aeterna is from the the movie Requiem for a Dream. It was composed by Clint Mansell and performed by the Kronos Quartet. Requiem for a Tower was a different version of Lux Aeterna used for the Lord of the Rings movies. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requiem_for_a_Dream_( ...
- OzzieAlThor, on 06/19/2008, -9/+76Should have been like 1:30 instead of 4:29.
Still good... should have been a real trailer instead of the whole song. - chrissku, on 06/19/2008, -5/+66My best friends sisters boyfriend has a friend who has a cousin that thinks she saw Ferris pass out in 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious.
- ElectricKetchup, on 06/19/2008, -2/+61Here's one that's the opposite: Shining as an upbeat family movie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gf7h6o3I8yw
- squishee, on 06/18/2008, -0/+40Zerg as the "ass to ass" pimp = childhood ruiner.
- Waskonator, on 06/19/2008, -2/+40God that score gives me the jibblys.
In hind sight, i may have been too impressionable then i first watched that movie.
...and high. - bleutuna, on 06/19/2008, -4/+40Would have been better if it were shorter, but still thoroughly entertaining and effective. Good stuff.
- whoaohh, on 06/19/2008, -1/+36it's actually Lux Aeterna by Clint Mansell
- anonatron, on 06/19/2008, -1/+35Lux Aeterna is great, it is just too bad they slap it on every trailer now.
- Wonderama, on 06/19/2008, -2/+35In 1930, the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, in an effort to alleviate the effects of the... Anyone? Anyone?... the Great Depression, passed the... Anyone? Anyone? The tariff bill? The Hawley-Smoot Tariff Act? Which, anyone? Raised or lowered?... raised tariffs, in an effort to collect more revenue for the federal government. Did it work? Anyone? Anyone know the effects? It did not work, and the United States sank deeper into the Great Depression. Today we have a similar debate over this. Anyone know what this is? Class? Anyone? Anyone? Anyone seen this before? The Laffer Curve. Anyone know what this says? It says that at this point on the revenue curve, you will get exactly the same amount of revenue as at this point. This is very controversial. Does anyone know what Vice President Bush called this in 1980? Anyone? Something-d-o-o economics. "Voodoo" economics.
- 1337chic, on 06/19/2008, -2/+32Yeah, that took a lot more effort than the Bueller one.
- JlmAWP, on 06/19/2008, -3/+31I've been getting really sick of these mash-ups lately, but my faith in creative satire has been restored. Fantastic job.
- Hudon689, on 06/13/2009, -1/+26As a matter of fact, the soundtrack for movie has 3 versions of the same song, they almost sound the same:
Winter Overture
Summer Overture
Lux Aeterna
I think the last one is the "official" name (Lux Aeterna)...and they're all by Kronos Quartet http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Requiem_for_a_Tower
Requiem for a Tower is actually just an edit for the LOTR trailer (and the one used in this sequence) - bashnu, on 06/19/2008, -28/+51That music can make anything profound.
The music is the Requiem for a Tower movements by the Corner Stone Cues - loobis, on 06/19/2008, -1/+23Thank you, Simone.
- OJXs, on 06/19/2008, -0/+21This one is much better
- luke374, on 06/19/2008, -0/+15If you ever go to film school, be prepared to hear that song in every single ***** short film you'll be forced to sit through.
- SilentSpyder, on 06/19/2008, -1/+14I don't know why they digg you down. I agree, it's good but seems about 2 minutes too long for a trailer.
- burnedtubes, on 06/19/2008, -2/+14Epic!
It always amazes me how big of a role editing and score play in a film's feel. - coreyb, on 06/19/2008, -2/+14Mirror - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Vy2aJY6rq8
- 0ceanic, on 06/19/2008, -0/+12this is the song
by Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna (Full Orchestral Remix) - hauntedchippy, on 06/19/2008, -18/+29Too long. Good idea, just don't milk it.
- ghee, on 06/19/2008, -2/+13Lux Aeterna makes everything look dramatic and serious. This was nicely put together.
- hokie47, on 06/19/2008, -1/+12It's a shame that Ben Stein is an intelligent design idiot, but he played the teacher part perfectly.
- OzzieAlThor, on 06/19/2008, -0/+10They could use Slinky for that scene too..
- bashnu, on 06/19/2008, -0/+10Search for Requiem for a Dream soundtrack and you will get all versions.
None the less
Darren Aronofsky made that tune eternal.
see his other movies here http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004716/ - tocsy, on 06/19/2008, -0/+9Yes, I was just about to link this. ( http://www.alienpanic.com/toy.html if anyone's interested in the high quality vid)
- inactive, on 06/19/2008, -0/+9not back to back, though. your mind can't handle it.
- milo3600, on 06/20/2008, -1/+9Damn right. The Bueller one had no sense of narrative or tone. And was too long. Just randomly taking intense looking scenes and adding a foreboding soundtrack is very easy and requires no real talent or vision.
- neocr0n, on 06/19/2008, -7/+14That wasn't a mash up that was a Ferris Bueller’s Day Off trailer with the song Lux Aeterna over the top. How is that a mash up? The Toy Story 2 one was far superior.
- DubBucket, on 06/20/2008, -0/+7Holy Epic, that was steeped in *****.
- nogami, on 06/19/2008, -0/+7Thought it was pretty good, but far too long. Only needed to be a minute or two. It was feeling pretty forced at about the 2min mark.
- tyywebb, on 06/19/2008, -1/+8Grace?.........GRACE?!?!
- HenvY, on 06/19/2008, -0/+7Yeah, was clearly edited to fit the song but it woulda been so much better if the creator had just used really choice clips.
- anonatron, on 06/19/2008, -0/+6How many times a day do you think people make that old man say "Ass to Ass!" in that creepy way. I bet he gets it a lot (if he is still alive), I know I would ask him to say it!
- JaySansone, on 06/19/2008, -6/+12Needs to have about 70% cut out. way too long.
- tyywebb, on 06/19/2008, -0/+5Don't you mean ass to ass?
- bryanricker, on 06/19/2008, -5/+10This made me want to watch both movies. I think I will.
- 0ceanic, on 06/19/2008, -0/+5Clint Mansell - Lux Aeterna (Full Orchestral Remix)
- Caffro, on 06/19/2008, -4/+8I got chills toward the end !!
- LowFuel, on 06/20/2008, -0/+4Not so much "mirror" as "original non-blogspam"
- iamgreg007, on 06/19/2008, -2/+6God damn that gave me goosebumps. Totally went into it thinking it was going to suck, now I want to send it to everyone I know. Outstanding!
- Cglass, on 06/19/2008, -1/+5I dunno it was more like a little movie rather than a trailer, it wasn't horrible in length, just different I think. A+ from me
- ChrisLondon, on 06/19/2008, -0/+4That's awesome!
- wireframework, on 06/19/2008, -0/+4Ok.
Yes, Clint Mansell did the original score for Requiem for a Dream, and that score does indeed have several different versions of this theme (one of my favorite pieces of music, by the way). However, even considering the epic final music track "Lux Aeterna," none of them are exactly like the music in this trailer. The music here (apparently looped a couple times?) is INDEED Corner Stone Cues, and this version - with full choir, a full live orchestra (The Sons of Sin Orchestra, no less), and a full percussion section - appears on the CSC collection album Requiem for a Tower. The music was originally used for The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers movie trailer, but has since been used in SEVERAL other media applications, from Top Gear to many movie trailers including The DaVinci Code and Sunshine.
In case you can't Google it, here:

bashnu is totally, perfectly correct, and anyone who buries him is, well, just ignorant. - mlvassallo, on 06/19/2008, -5/+8So really it is just Ferris Bueller with the music from Requiem. Other than that, it has nothing really to do with Requiem for a Dream, it could have been any suspenseful music.
- malex, on 06/19/2008, -2/+5This would have been a lot more effective if cut down to 60 or 90 seconds. Other than that, brilliant.
