- spepin, on 04/02/2009, -7/+430I love the internet. What a fantastic place.

"In 2007 director Eli Roth blamed an online leak of his horror film Hostel: Part II for reducing box office returns."
haha, right... - hasslinthehoff, on 04/02/2009, -1/+280Wolverine has escaped and they called the government in to find him... sounds like a movie to me.
- GVR90, on 04/02/2009, -23/+251***** Fox. ***** the FBI. ***** the MPAA. ***** the RIAA.
- socivitus, on 04/02/2009, -11/+237Only 100,000 people? That's insulting!
- Aphrael, on 04/02/2009, -2/+185The incomplete version would probably be interesting to watch on its own merits, for people interested in the process of making films. I can't think why anyone else would want to watch a movie that relies heavily on CGI, without the CGI...
- rajugurusamy, on 04/02/2009, -4/+175maybe Magneto did it :P
- atezun, on 04/02/2009, -0/+138Though it's not really related, I'm pleased by the trailing bit at the end
"In a change from recent years, the adverts move away from the message that piracy is theft.
Audiences will instead see a trailer, fronted by Dr Who actor Noel Clarke, thanking them for paying to come and watch a film."
Looks like they finally started figuring out that insulting the audience isn't a good way to attract people. - FruitFocker, on 04/02/2009, -4/+142I'm going to watch this movie in theaters because it is great! Being leaked on the internet actually helps good movies. A leak will only hurt ***** movies.
Solution: DON"T MAKE ***** MOVIES.
I just solved movie piracy. - inactive, on 04/02/2009, -7/+136All aboard the Party Van.
- drmangrum, on 04/02/2009, -1/+123I didn't see anything in the article that said they were hunting down the people that downloaded it . In fact, they explicitly said they are tracking down those that leaked it and would prosecute to the fully extent of the world.
Next time, read the article. - Mpwns, on 04/02/2009, -0/+118lol @ "20th Century Fox confirmed the copy had now been removed and the FBI informed." just checked my torrents out one place has over 10,000 seeds for this.
- miniml, on 04/02/2009, -1/+112"You could buy Hostel: Part II for a quarter in Mexico City. As a result, in a lot of countries where the piracy was bad, they just didn't even release it."
A quarter? Man, what a ripoff. - spepin, on 04/02/2009, -31/+128Also, maybe they should spend their resources on tracking down the studio people and critics who get these copies in the first place, instead of tracking down users on the internet.
- mrkmrk, on 04/02/2009, -1/+94The fully extent of the world? *****, those guys are *****.
- Rogor, on 04/02/2009, -19/+109This is what AXXO has been doing the past few weeks the cunning bastard.
- Skurt, on 04/02/2009, -0/+83Removed the torrent off the internet? Ha! That's a laugh, it's like trying to take the Pee out of a public pool!
- RogerMcDodger, on 04/02/2009, -0/+82Several 100,000. Odd way to write it, but still.
- TronSolo, on 04/02/2009, -2/+84Make that 100,001 downloads.
- iamheero1, on 04/02/2009, -0/+81"claws grow here" + red arrows. I hope that's in the final version :D

- Smokezz, on 04/02/2009, -0/+7420th Century Fox statement: Such theft undermines the enormous efforts of the filmmakers and actors and, above all, hurts fans of the film
Now THAT is quite possibly the funniest thing I've read all day. Hurts the fans of the film. ROFL. - mywhitenoise, on 04/02/2009, -2/+74Epic Movie proved that if you make a bad movie, people will pay to see it.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -0/+69*whispers* The media is incompetent and just repeats what some "official" tells them.
- thunderclap82, on 04/02/2009, -2/+67Glad to see we're wasting the taxpayers money.
- drpcken, on 04/02/2009, -0/+65It's over 9000!!
- drmangrum, on 04/02/2009, -0/+55Sorry, I'm at work and I deal with maps. Sometimes I get distracted:)
- myotive, on 04/02/2009, -4/+54***** the ***** *****!
- WickedEdge, on 04/02/2009, -0/+50Yeah, i saw at least like 6 different trackers for it. I dunno wtf they mean by it has been "removed"
- failtrain, on 04/02/2009, -2/+49***** Acronyms
- danwallace, on 04/02/2009, -4/+50The FBI has nothing better to do?
- PDubNYC, on 04/02/2009, -1/+46Several one hundred thousand times
- RedSaber, on 04/02/2009, -1/+46I have been making a collection of movie tickets since the beginning of the 90's.
I love cinema, I'm a big fan. I spent thousands of dollars on movies.
But for the last few months, years... I've been going to the cinema less and less. Not because of the internet (I've been around for a longgg time), but because of the ***** quality of the movies they are making nowadays. I don't wanna spend all this money on movies that aren't worth paying for.
Big studios: Stop making crappy movies and people will start going back to the theaters. It's as simple as that.
The internet is not your enemy, it's a marketing tool. Make a good product, distribute it on the Internet and it will sale itself.
I think you understand that, and that's why you hate the Internet: because you make ***** products. - binaryecho, on 04/02/2009, -0/+45Yea. Noticed that in the article. What kinda ***** is that?
- srfrogger, on 04/02/2009, -2/+46Actually, AXXO only does DVD rips.
- Surferess, on 04/02/2009, -2/+45I know! It was "downloaded an estimated several 100,000 times"
- zephc, on 04/02/2009, -0/+43Actually about half of the movie had the CG complete or pretty close to complete, but a lot of the good actiony parts were still unfinished/placeholders
- dsmx, on 04/02/2009, -0/+43you have to laugh when anyone says something is removed from the internet.
- JasonAdams13, on 04/02/2009, -0/+40QUICK EVERYONE DELETE YOUR COPIES FAST! THIS IS NOT A DRILL!
- rashawty, on 04/02/2009, -0/+39"Eli Roth blamed an online leak of his horror film Hostel: Part II for reducing box office returns."
That movie was awful, i think if the movie being released early online and giving people a chance to hear how bad it was from the early downloaders prevented people from watching then it was a public service. - Brizzyce, on 04/02/2009, -0/+39Doesn't your first point actually work towards with buddamus said?
- level32, on 04/02/2009, -0/+39*several 100,001 times
- smotpoker, on 04/02/2009, -3/+41You forgot the police
- subacetylene, on 04/02/2009, -0/+38At least the movie was leaked on April Fools day... I'm sure a lot of people didn't bother downloading it thinking the news of the leak was bogus.
- TimDigg, on 04/02/2009, -4/+40Why is this the governments responsibility?
Isn't this like a "we need to manage our own business better and make sure we have a secure distribution process" issue
Do I as a private citizen that funds the FBI get a cut of film profits? - scarwars, on 04/02/2009, -6/+41which he gets from scene releases
;) - Dalhectar, on 04/02/2009, -2/+35http://everywhere.internet
- sugablonde, on 04/02/2009, -2/+35*****!
- bitterbug, on 04/02/2009, -0/+32Batman: The Dark Knight, was one of the most pirated movies ever. It was also one of the most successful theatrical releases *ever*.
So.... explain how the downloaders hurt the bottom line? -
