- inactive, on 09/05/2008, -0/+33But will he be able to leave the holodeck in this one?
- dsmx, on 09/05/2008, -1/+29Russel Crowe Fighting round the world...
- whoreable, on 09/05/2008, -3/+26WASSUP HOLMES?
- Ravenlock, on 09/06/2008, -0/+16According to the same set of links, Robert Downey Jr is in the title role? That could be awesome, or could be awful, I'm really not sure. I'm leaning towards awesome, though. (Though obviously if you could get Hugh Laurie, that would be the perfect choice) ;-)
- TyrantJoe, on 09/06/2008, -4/+19Haven't you seen Snatch. or Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels?
- Yuri1985, on 09/05/2008, -1/+15Perfect match since Crowe is crazy as hell... wait, was Moriarty an *****?
- SubjectiveC, on 09/06/2008, -0/+12It's lupus.
- Oztog, on 09/06/2008, -0/+12It's never Lupus
- cme884, on 09/06/2008, -2/+11Ricky Gervais should be Watson.
- armakaryk, on 09/06/2008, -0/+8robert downey jr as holmes? that doesn't sit with me, mostly cause he isn't basil rathbone.
- RangerGeoff, on 09/06/2008, -0/+8He'll just hop into "Tugga" and cruise right out of that holodeck!
- SubjectiveC, on 09/06/2008, -3/+11Wat, son?
- bonjourmr, on 09/06/2008, -1/+8lol jason statham = holmes
- SoullessPoet, on 09/06/2008, -0/+7FTA: "The Watson role was offered to Gerard Butler but he passed."
Too bad. I always wondered who would win if Maximus fought Leonidas. - harrisbradley, on 09/06/2008, -2/+9My vote for watson is Philip Seymour Hoffman (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000450/), but my best GUESS is it'll be Shia LaDouche
- jbmcb, on 09/06/2008, -1/+8He already plays Holmes. House - get it? Wilson=Watson. He even lives in apartment 221-B.
- tbredofsin, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Agreed, Hugh Laurie would be the perfect Holmes.
My dear Watson. - cjacks9, on 09/05/2008, -1/+6FTA: 'According to my Intel, "there is a VERY good chance that Russell Crowe is going to play…PROFESSOR MORIARTY"'
I think it would be a good fit. I don't have any thoughts on a Holmes though. - EarthernJar, on 09/06/2008, -0/+5Clive Owen as Holmes.
- jbmcb, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4Moriarty was in one and a half Holmes stories, he really wasn't a major villain, though he was one of the first evil geniuses.
I smell a raping of Doyle's great literature. Moriarty will kidnap Nicola Tesla and force him to build a time machine or some such crap. Next up they'll have David Caruso playing Sam Spade solving crimes on Miami beach. - solid12345, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4How fitting Russel Crowe is playing the villainous ***** in all his movies lately.
- darthjure, on 09/06/2008, -2/+6http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOj-Is2ylA0
- dsmx, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4So long as they pick someone who is English it will be fine, however finding someone who will fit the arrogant, intelligent, opium smoking Sherlock Holmes character will be hard to find.
- aethelberga, on 09/06/2008, -0/+4There should be a permanent moratorium on any more Holmes, since Jeremy Brett did it to perfection.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Oh, you'd *love* Time After Time http://us.imdb.com/title/tt0080025/
HG Wells uses his Time Machine to travel to 1979 America.. chasing Jack the Ripper!!
Written by Nick Meyer who went on to save the Star Trek movie franchise with Wrath of Khan (and reused his jokes from Time After Time in it for the crew in modern San Fran) - AndrewDB, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3I'd say it was more a refined sense of how to be a twit to other people,.. instead of *****.
- jbmcb, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3He'd be better as LeStrade.
- futurepastnow, on 09/06/2008, -1/+4It's all fun and games until he tries to escape from the holodeck and take over the ship.
- arcangelgabriel, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Haven't you seen 'Swept Away' ?
- Oztog, on 09/06/2008, -1/+4I'll only see it if he hits sherlock with a phone
- TheCasablancan, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3Indeed, but who was phone?
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+3***** A
- DDION, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Actually, judging from the posted picture of him, Crowe could prob pull off a fine C. Montgomery Burns.
*excellent* - inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Hugh Laurie = Holmes?
Christopher Walken = Watson? - tbredofsin, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2I was thinking Gary Oldman, but then he'd probably out-Holmes Holmes.
- christopher100s, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Too right.
- jbmcb, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2He could be Mycroft.
- Niightwitch, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2Jeremy Brett was the greatest Holmes...I don't think anyone will be able to top him.
- bluesman3535, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2The limits of talent and why I won't pay money to view this. ------Crowe helped prove once again how justice is escaped in America through money and/or fame. Crowe is the type of gutless worm who enjoys picking on people while they are on the clock at work, doing service jobs on camera and subject to firing with any retaliation. Notice when he is in America he never starts fights at a biker bar where his ass would be promptly disheveled, and his silly accent permanently re-arranged. He prefers assaulting peaceful hotel clerks who, lucky for him, value their jobs over grabbing the nearest thing as a head denting device. Crowe throws things like telephones, not even giving the the clerk his own phone to throw back as in a fair 'dual', nor the option of clocking out first. Topping all this is that he imagines himself to have musical talent.
- finn, on 09/06/2008, -0/+2no dig or bury until more of this is actually confirmed instead of speculated ("my intel says there's a good chance" is worse than wikipedia)..
- DivisibleByZero, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1It's sad that that's the first thing I think of when I see Moriarty's name.
- tbredofsin, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1I do believe it has been mentioned, yes.
- Akairenn, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Paul Bettany needs to be involved somehow.
He is, after all, Russel Crowe's imaginary friend. - Niightwitch, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Christopher Walken would make a better Holmes than Watson.
- jbmcb, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1I saw that one - it actually wasn't bad, nor was the one where Watson's great-granddaughter reanimates Holmes, who was dying of bubonic plague, and brings him back to the states.
They weren't bad because they were more of a take off on Sherlock Holmes. If you're trying to do the original, just stick to the script. There are hundreds of stories to pick from, not many people have read them all. - Vash_aka_TK, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Isn't Robert Downey Jr playing Sherlock?
- heystoopid, on 09/06/2008, -1/+2
Oh great just what the world does not need another crap wooden version of Sherlock Holmes full of equally crap CGI and made by the deaf dumb and blind drunks of Crapwood , Ca. , in the new Union of the Soviet States of Amerika . - Seomann, on 09/06/2008, -1/+2Say what you want about Russell Crow, but the man is a master actor.
- inactive, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Sallah? Gimli? He is a thousand years old.
- HarryRag, on 09/06/2008, -0/+1Buried.
Nice try! -
