- flyinglaughter, on 06/30/2009, -0/+12Can you imagine having David Lynch as a father? And I thought my upbringing was odd...
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/30/2009, -1/+10Weird, I was just reading about "Mulholland Dr." this morning..
The movie still blows my mind with the barrage of imagery it has. - DemDude, on 06/30/2009, -1/+10I love David Lynch, not only because his films tend to be very close to full-blown madness, but he likes to turn the usual clichés upside down.
Just take a look at the FBI Agent and the small-town Sheriff in Twin Peaks: Usually, the FBI-Agent is cool and calm while the Sheriff looks and acts stupid and is excited about hunting down a big time criminal. In Twin Peaks, the Sheriff is very cool and down to earth, while the FBI-Agent gets terribly excited about the tiniest things, and even tends to rely on things he sees in his dreams.
It's the little things like this that make everything David Lynch does special, and not special as in "retarded", special as in amazing, and unlike anything else. - jaredongie, on 06/30/2009, -1/+10David Lynch is my kind of loon.
"Blue Velvet" remains one of the best films of the 80s. It's unquestionably a masterpiece. Frank Booth still haunts my dreams.
I'm looking forward to this. - BrianCrosbie, on 06/30/2009, -1/+7I think David Lynch would be an amazing father. He's been practicing transcendental mediation for over 30 years which would mean he is probably extremely grounded and comfortable in his own skin.
I'm sure he keeps work and family separated. - sacramentalist, on 06/30/2009, -0/+5That's true about cliches. And in Twin Peaks, the feds and local enforcement actually get along. Well, except for punching the pathologist.
But when he does do the cliches, he goes all out. ie, Laura Dern vs Isabella Rosellini in Blue Velvet. - inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+5Don't you ***** look at him.
- feignNU, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Just started watching Twin Peaks a few days ago...***** love it.
- mathyu21, on 06/30/2009, -0/+3Lynch tells stories in such an obscure and interesting way. Its great to see his son picking up the trade as well and with this, he takes it in the opposite direction. The Interview Project seems like such a simple idea but that is exactly what makes it good. Its the equivalent of having a complete stranger walk up to you and have a very personal, heart-spilling conversation with you. Its really quite refreshing.
- rosserfan, on 06/30/2009, -1/+4It's my favorite David Lynch film!! Incredible.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Who said is was "mystical", or that merely being mystical was a good thing? The TM organization has some major problems, but equating it with scientology is preposterous.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Frank Booth is still the *only* movie villian that actually frightens me in real life.
- inactive, on 06/30/2009, -0/+2Dugg for David Lynch
- EddiePotato, on 09/26/2009, -0/+1He may be the most viscerally realistic and believable movie villain ever.
- Kajaah117, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Best news I've heard all day. I love every Lynch movie, Eraserhead and Mulholland Dr. especially. His daughter just put out a decent movie recently too. A lot of filmmakers in that family.
- Jonh, on 06/30/2009, -0/+1Hey man, meditation is not a religion. It's a method to find balance in the mind. It's not mystical either.
Just check this : http://www.sciencedaily.com/search/?keyword=medita ... - biw314, on 06/30/2009, -0/+0Anyone able to actually see any of the video? I just hear a couple of seconds of audio and that's it.
- S4MF1SHER, on 06/30/2009, -2/+1Not be an ass or anything, but I think you mean "transcendental meditation"
- solid12345, on 06/30/2009, -2/+1And people make fun of scientology?
I don't see anything mystical about sitting quiet for an hour and rolling your head around. - krakow056, on 06/30/2009, -10/+4His home movies must be horrible.
=/ - socoolisme, on 06/30/2009, -15/+3Like his professional movies.
