  • lare911, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5There was a story on NPR just recently about the renewal of the ancient Greek religion in Greece, which is actually illegal, due to the lock the Greek Orthodox church has on the government there. This is worship of Zeus, Hera, Apollo, Athena, Aphrodite, etc. Maybe the religion will spead even faster with this film.

    The ancient Greeks were very cool, whether Spartans or other.

    It's one thing to like a good story or an escapist film but quite another to actually advocate, for want of a better word, evil.
    E.G. most diggers might think the robocop films were cool, but I don't think many people would want to live in New Detroit.

    Plus, Spartans and especially their allies didn't suffer so much from 'friendly stab.'

    Know the story before making *really* stupid remarks.

    From what I've read (gates of fire, etc), Miller did a great job of depicting the *atmosphere* of the battle, if not a perfect historical rendition.

  • etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Frank had virtually no input on what happened to those Robocop films though, so he can't be blamed really. That's why he was nervous with bringing Sin City to film, until he saw what Rodriguez did in the (now famous) test scene with Josh Hartnett.
  • Onibus, on 10/12/2007, -4/+4Learning about the Spartans in European History, just watching the trailer gives me chills. The intensity of the cries and the grittiness of it all gives a great impression of how fierce of a force the Spartans were.
    I really look forward to this movie.

    btw, i like the ancient Greek religion because those gods had passion. the christian god is too dull.

    If you think that SG is suing a photographer for taking photos of his wife isn't wrong, then you clearly spend too much time in SG world. SG tries to sue many people, including a programmer whom SG thought he stole code even though he coded in ASP .NET and not PHP that SG uses. They can't tell the difference, especially when the owner is money hungry and wants to sue everyone whom he thinks is competition.

    People like you will go on to defend SG, but oh the time will come when you wake up. Plenty and plenty of people like you and including ex SG models have woken up to SG's foul practices.     OK Robocop 3 was ***** but all of the other Frank Miller films have been good. Robo 3 must have suffered a bit from being pressured into being PG13, although it is hard to imagine how the screenplay could have been worse.

    The real battle was probably not even close to this movie's version. I mean what's with all the hyper colors and random scenes of chicks dancing all gypsy like with scarves waving around. Not to mention the other scenes of dudes just screaming, and the kid fighting a wolf, c'mon.

    I love frank miller, and this will be interesting but it better have more substance than the trailer shows. NIN soundtrack should be awesome.
