- SuperGreen420, on 05/19/2008, -9/+161Ugh. The "Directors Cut" took away all the ambiguity that made the Theatrical Cut so awesome. It also showed how Kelly fluked it all due to the studio forcing him to keep making cuts.
Donnie Darko was the greatest accident of Richard Kellys life. - pappyblueribs, on 05/19/2008, -5/+142How old is this article? The director's cut was released years ago.
- SeaweedWater, on 05/19/2008, -2/+117Why are you wearing that stupid man suit?

- AndrewDB, on 05/19/2008, -1/+55Heres something I want to know ..
WHY THE ***** ARE THEY MAKING A SEQUEL?
http://www.slashfilm.com/2008/05/09/donnie-darko-s ... if you don't believe me. - bigbill780, on 05/19/2008, -11/+62How exactly do you suck a *****?
- HouseofEl, on 05/19/2008, -8/+56Good god, the director's cut came out like 4 years ago. All of this information is found elsewhere. A four year old article on the front page. That's a new one for me. Find something more recent and maybe I'll take a look. Perhaps you could also find one that doesn't take up 7 pages.
- scairborn, on 05/19/2008, -2/+49First of all, Papa Smurf didn't create Smurfette. Gargamel did. She was sent in as Gargamel's evil spy with the intention of destroying the Smurf village. But the overwhelming goodness of the Smurf way of life transformed her. And as for the whole gang-bang scenario, it just couldn't happen. Smurfs are asexual. They don't even have... reproductive organs under those little, white pants. It's just so illogical, you know, about being a Smurf. You know, what's the point of living... if you don't have a dick?
- LemmingJesus, on 05/19/2008, -3/+47This DVD I own says director's cut on it, what the hell is this article talking about?
- frumpsnake, on 05/19/2008, -11/+54Buried for being 3 years and 10 months old.
Also the Director's Cut (and Southland Tales, and Domino) have shown that Richard Kelly was extremely lucky with Donnie Darko. - riversc, on 05/19/2008, -10/+47I stopped at page one.
- pearcey, on 05/19/2008, -1/+35If you haven't already checked out the Donnie Darko website.. your in for a real treat!!! awesome, bizzare, and totally twisted!!
http://www.donniedarkofilm.com - VeniceCA, on 05/19/2008, -23/+50And don't forget production on Donnie Darko 2 is underway.
- Niightwitch, on 05/19/2008, -1/+27If you notice, the article is dated 2004.
- NWVG, on 05/19/2008, -1/+24Another commenter (VeniceCA) mentioned that a sequel was being written, and I initially buried him, but did a quick Google search anyway. I can't believe that it actually is being made, and begins production on May 18th with Richard Kelly not attached to the project at all: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=44 ...
- Ocelot13, on 05/19/2008, -0/+23ahem
"How exactly does one suck a *****?" - phrenzy, on 05/19/2008, -1/+24Also wish I could digg you up * many. The director's cut totally gutted the soul of the movie with those stupid little book excerpts trying to spell out every thing that happened at every step of the way. It's totally true, this movie (the original cut) was a total lucky fluke for Kelly. In the commentary (on the original DVD) he is constantly saying how he never meant for the movie to be ambiguous.
Also, when you hear him talk, it's striking how he sounds like a frat-boy who doesn't have the intelligence to INTENTIONALLY create something as haunting as the original cut. It's kind of like - even HE doesn't know how he did it.
A very rare case where a decent movie, butchered by (arbitrary) studio interference as a result became a great movie.
Maybe the movie was inspired by an alien consciousness which directed the hands of those involved to create the movie IT wanted ... - jmpeagle, on 05/19/2008, -0/+22why are you buried, it's true, they just started production, someone posted the links below.
- MistaBell, on 05/19/2008, -2/+23Theatrical > directors cut. They changed a bulk of the soundtrack too.
- ChrisshEnzo, on 05/19/2008, -0/+19Goddamit Donnie why do you have to go gettin smart on us
- mark076h, on 05/19/2008, -0/+18the internet is going to end in 28 days!
- djdole, on 05/19/2008, -0/+18Why would anyone be AFRAID to ask anything about a movie?
- gldfshnpcklejar, on 05/19/2008, -3/+20This articles timestamp is for 2004. This digg submission is a time paradox, kind of like in the movie....
- heroesdietrying, on 05/19/2008, -2/+18I wish I could dig you up more than once for that. I agree 100%.
- nienhulm, on 05/19/2008, -0/+16That rabbit left me seriously disturbed.
- SuperMoses, on 05/19/2008, -1/+16Didn't Kevin Smith say something like "Your fans are gonna be so pissed after they see this" in the commentary of the director's cut? He was so right.
- deltron, on 05/19/2008, -1/+15It's not really called "Donnie Darko 2", there will be no Donnie...
It's called "S. Darko", named after Samantha, Donnie's little sister. The role will be played by the same actress (Daveigh Chase) that played her in the first.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S._Darko (includes plot and all) - Maver1c, on 05/19/2008, -0/+13what's a *****?
- travis6690, on 05/19/2008, -0/+13Thank god.
- desuexmachina, on 05/19/2008, -0/+11Holy crap, this has to be dugg up just so more people know about the travesty.
- ladbroke, on 05/19/2008, -2/+13"Bow chicka bow chicka bow chicka bow."
Ahh, internet journalism. - Modulo, on 05/19/2008, -2/+13because Richard Kelly is not involved and is not pleased about it. But hey, good luck marketing geniuses that are making a sequel to a cult classic against the wishes of the creator of the original, that's going to work out really well for you.
- DrunkTomato, on 05/19/2008, -0/+10I hate it when I like things and then other people start to like them! It makes me lose my COOL EDGE
- DarkoKun, on 05/19/2008, -1/+10I know this wont be anywhere near as good as donnie darko. So I really don't expect much from it.
- Jassman, on 05/19/2008, -1/+10Absolutely. Some bitch borrowed my copy of Donnie Darko and then gave it to someone else. I have since bought the Director's Cut and was extremely disappointed. The only change they made that improved it, was taking out the hand on that weird snake-like thing that projects out of Donnie's chest. Everything else should have stayed the same.
- happyfundave, on 05/19/2008, -0/+9OK I am going to state this and probably get dugg down for it, but perhaps occasionally the studios know what they are doing when they try to cut a movie.
- ltchimpo, on 05/19/2008, -1/+10brown chicken brown cow
- Jexie, on 05/19/2008, -5/+13*****, wrong post - sorry digg this down.
- jmpeagle, on 05/19/2008, -0/+8the point of buries and commenting is to allow users to express their displeasure with the article just like digging and commenting can be used to express gratitude etc...
- jer2eydevil88, on 05/19/2008, -1/+8Obviously its not too old for Digg's homepage... sadly.
- xyu1, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7I'd never read anything that explained so much about the film until i read this, so even though it's however many years old, and people are whining away, cheers!
- searcade, on 05/19/2008, -5/+123 years and 8 months old. Buried for being lame *the article not you*
- xerigen, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7"But whatever happens to you... whatever obstacles you come up against... you just say... and do whatever is in your heart. You be honest... and tell the truth... even if they look at you funny... and they will. But what you've got to understand, son, is that almost all of those people are full of *****... they're all part of this great big conspiracy... *****. And they're scared of people like you. Because those ***** know that you're smarter than all of them. You know what you say to people like that? ***** you." -Eddie Darko (I think it's only in the director's cut)
- jc7012, on 05/19/2008, -0/+7All day, every day
- dan222555, on 05/19/2008, -1/+8A four year old article on the front page....really?
