- STARTSOMETHING, on 10/11/2007, -7/+94@taron
your posting privileges have been suspended until you receive common knowledge - trer, on 10/11/2007, -1/+79No, it just means no one uses Yahoo to search for anything anymore.
- Sanitarium, on 10/11/2007, -10/+83Duff Man can't generate buzz.... Oh! no!
*thrusts pelvis forward* - mrmdc, on 10/11/2007, -9/+66Even after 17 seasons, the simpsons is still far better most of the crap on tv.
The simpsons is the show that kept FOX going all these years.. I doubt they'll cancel it unless it starts losing money.. - Erowid, on 10/11/2007, -4/+62"Internet Buzz" or not, I think that most of us who grew up with the Simpsons feel obligated to see the movie, really.
- crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -12/+56The Simpsons jumped the shark years ago.
Each new season promises something different; yet it only proves how much people miss the writing of the earlier seasons. How will this movie be a breath of fresh air? If they hired the old writers and went back to hand-drawn animation, maybe ...
Improve the television show back to how it was, and the buzz will generate itself. - Smokezz, on 10/11/2007, -16/+58American Dad isn't even remotely funny.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+38they still win with futurama :D
- meshman, on 10/11/2007, -7/+39It may not do that well since many people won't run to pay for something they've gotten for free for the past 20 years. Plus The Simpsons has had its run. Because of the movie, it will likely end within the next year or 2. 20 seasons is my guess. It should be a good movie though.
- jake8689, on 10/11/2007, -3/+33how about lack of TV ads i haven't seen one, hell i forgot about it untill i saw this
- wideawakewesley, on 10/11/2007, -6/+30The Simpsons movie is being released on the same day as the Transformers in the UK and while I will go and see both, I'm pretty damn sure most people will only see the Transformers. Stupid film company should have released The Simpsons the week before.
- CheckPlease, on 10/11/2007, -3/+27This movie is getting no Internet buzz, and I learned that from a web site?
- NinjaBoy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+25I don't want to look anything up about the movie online cause i fear it will spoil it when i goto see it.
- flangepiece, on 10/11/2007, -5/+28Yeah, Futurama's got my vote. Give me the Futurama Movie and I'll be happy.
- Waskonator, on 10/11/2007, -3/+25What the ***** is the "internet"?
- liambarron, on 10/11/2007, -0/+18Anyone who thinks that the Simpsons movie is going to flop at the box office is seriously undercutting the following that the simpsons have amassed over the course of its life, people young and old who have loved the simpsons (you better believe thats a ***** of people) will go see the movie.
- amoo3, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19I'd say that MSN is above google only because its IE's default home page, and most people don't know/care to to change it.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+19I'm guessing it'll be good, obviously all the good jokes that would have been in the last few seasons have gone into the movie... I hope..
- ebolaworld, on 10/11/2007, -5/+20This movie is ten years too late.
- kbull, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15"Oh, so they have the Internet on comptuers now!"
- drdank, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15Waskonator: The Internet is a communication tool used the world over where people can come together to bitch about movies and share pornography with one another.
- c0ldfusi0n, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15I've had it with this motherf****** kid on this motherf****** skateboard?
- SpaceMonkeyZero, on 10/11/2007, -1/+12If it's anything like the past 5 seasons... yes it will flop.
Of course these days in Hollywood, "Flop" means it will still make millions, they just won't get all their money back in the first weekend. - roflcawpter, on 10/11/2007, -4/+15They should try guerilla marketing.
You know, get some lite brites, stick'em up in all the major cities... - monkeywaffles, on 10/11/2007, -1/+11People like rediculous things on the net. Like bad youtube videos. Lol. They also had that site with the 'let Samuel L Jackson phonecall your friends' which was pretty nifty and generated a lot of buzz.
- ChromaVita, on 10/11/2007, -2/+12for $11 a ticket and $5 for some horrible popcorn, lots of people won't.
- Insomniac33, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Same goes for Grindhouse, and that flopped.
- hmmmok, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8Biggest thing I learned is that ppl still use yahoo search. Who'da thunk it.
Damn trer beat me to it... - TheFBI, on 10/11/2007, -0/+8@speaker219 (#7249759)
Alexa is BS because it only counts users that have their toolbar. Which to me also seems like the kind of people surfing Yahoo and MSN. - praisethelard, on 06/06/2008, -5/+13Yeah, seriously. Maybe a lack of internet buzz is a good thing. It means that the "normal" audience will enjoy it.
- CraigJ, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10"What the ***** is the "internet"?" It's not a dump truck is all I know...
- VulnoX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7Well, that would make sense since Homer tends to make stupid purchases on overpriced stuff. (Underwater house, the most expensive computer, the first hover car, and so much more)
- hmmmok, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Ubuntu is the most popular candidate and Ron Paul is the most popular OS ?
- speaker219, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Well, Yahoo is actually the number one most visited website according to Alexa, followed by MSN and then Google.
Which I find hard to believe because I never hear ANYONE say "yahoo that"
http://www.alexa.com/site/ds/top_sites?ts_mode=global&lang=none
I still agree with you though. - sjbdallas, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7Agreed it's had its run. Also, I figure everyone knows whatever they need to know about the Simpsons movie anyway: it's coming out this summer. I don't need to search the internet to find that out. I believe that the internet buzz affect is generated when people need more information about something or verification. We all know the characters, we all know the premise, we all know it's coming out. No need to search for anything.
- wendelgee2, on 10/11/2007, -8/+14Honestly...the trailers just haven't been too funny. :T
- ArmyOfFun, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Exactly the same comment I was going to make. Internet buzz means pretty much nothing (it predicts neither success nor failure). If it predicted success, Snakes on a Plane would still be in theaters and Howard Dean would be our president.
- Raiu, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7This movie is about 7 years too late. That's why there is little 'talk' going on about it.
Not that I think it'll flop right off or be bad. But if this had come out a few years ago - it would have been huge. - mb96net, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6It'll do well regardless of it's buzz. The shear number of Simpson's fans that will have to go out of fan-boy loyalty will give it healthy box office numbers. Even if the movie sucks (and I think most of us are anticipating a big disappointment) it will still do well on DVD, because people will pay just to avoid missing out on all those future trivia and pop-culture references.
I'm one of those fan-boys that will have to see it, I'm just going to wait for my friends reviews before I decide to go to the theatre (yes, I'm Canadian so get over the British spelling) or get the DVD. - AmusedToDeath, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9As much as I love some seasons of the Simpsons, the show dried up creatively a long time ago. They just plain waited too long to make the movie. Next thing you know they'll be making a live action Transformers movie for goodness sake.
Oh, wait... - tybris, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6
Isn't it "Duh!"?
If there was an internet buzz that could have been the most dugg down comment ever. - mymidgetfriend, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5@ Erowid
That's kind of why I'm seeing it. I know that sounds weird, but I have a very strong attachment to this show (even though I've barely seen any new episodes for a few seasons now). The Simpsons shaped my sense of humor ever since I was a kid and I think I owe the series something. Here's to hoping the movie is actually funny! - VulnoX, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6Yeah, as someone else said, Snakes on a Plane, 300, Grindhouse, all those movies had pretty good internet buzz.
I think the movie NOT having a ton of internet buzz is good because then people are sick of the best parts of the movie before it even comes out.
Like the "Hate these mother-fn snakes on this..." line, we all heard it so damn much in every possible form before the movie, when it came out, we were already tired of the entire premise of the movie. - FyreGoddess, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5That and even the trailers have stated that everything they've released so far is subject to change. Why look for spoilers when even the creators aren't entirely sure what's going to happen?
- xL0Sx, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6I would think that there is a difference between using Yahoo.com to search and Yahoo.com to access your Email, News, etc.
Just because it's the most visited site according to Alexa, doesn't mean people are using it to search.
Additionally I would think the more Simpsons-centric community would be more inclined to use Google anyway. - binarybandit92, on 10/11/2007, -1/+6kind of ironic
story about the lack of buzz on buzz.yahoo.com
sooo, it has buzz now? - VulnoX, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5No, I loved it as well. I was just saying that they did not make money hand over fist or anything.
I think 300 had more overall internet buzz than Spiderman, people comparing scenes to the graphic novel, etc, but of course Spider-man walked all over it at the Box Office.
I am just saying that internet buzz hardly makes a movie, but it can sometimes hurt it.
I still have not seen Snakes on a Plane. - RodgerE1, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5I love The Simpsons, but I can wait to rent it on DVD.
- ntlpunk, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4you are so write!
