- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -1/+57Slave Leia stamp issued, nerd dies from glue poisoning, news at 11.
- jewdiknight, on 10/11/2007, -3/+44I still think if there was a Slave Liea option that she would win hands down.
- thejohnfloyd, on 10/11/2007, -4/+25"Strong the force is" would be better.
- CarIos, on 10/11/2007, -3/+22He's was probably the only character that could fit on a stamp.
- sockpuppets, on 10/11/2007, -2/+19You'd be pretty contemplative with Frank Oz's hand up your ass too.
- D3koy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+20Everyone liked Yoda the most, even in the new movies he managed not to be a complete travesty (quite a feat considering the newer movies)
- Octtopsy, on 10/11/2007, -3/+15"The force is strong in this stamp" said the nerdy stamp collector.
- SultanTravi, on 10/11/2007, -2/+13Boba Fett is still the coolest.
- GodsFavorite, on 10/11/2007, -1/+10Does anyone know by how much he won by?
- decepticrat, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11First of all, you question this story making the front page with 72 diggs. I've seen stories on the front with less than 30-40 diggs. As I'm sure you're well aware, it is both the stories activity and popularity that determine when and if it is promoted. Meaning, people like what I chose to post here, and they in their infinite wisdom, promoted it.
Second, what exactly do you mean by foul play? There are as many ads per capita, per page on digg, than on any site on the internet. In fact, one could easily infer that diggs entire motive is to generate ad-clicks and impression. This very page has 4 ads on it, alone. Multiply that by every digg, comment, and casual digger, and quickly their ad impressions are in the thousands. And how exactly does a site's ad content call it's content into suspiscion. Let me ask you this, what do Kotaku, BoingBoing, CNN, BBC, Yahoo, Google, Filmwad, IGN, Slashfilm, et al., have in common? Hmmmm, they all have ads. So then by your logic, they are all suspect, yes?
I counter that your comment is suspect, and you must either work for the post office, or are just a general *****. - GodsFavorite, on 10/11/2007, -3/+11Your just jealous.
- empressofmetal, on 10/11/2007, -6/+13There's no doubt about that. I wonder how they choose which images would appear on the stamps. And truthfully, I thought Darth Vader would win this.
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -3/+10That's what made Yoda so ***** awesome. They talked about him being the most powerful Jedi, the best swordsman, everything, but you never saw it until Ep II. That's why his fight with Dooku was so ***** amazing. This tiny, old little guy can ***** throw down on powerful Sith that other full sized jedi couldn't handle. That fight was one of the most amazing cinematic experiences I've ever had. And Ep III just showed him doing what he had to do, and how desperate times had gotten. Yoda is ***** awesome and I'm glad we were able to see just why he's so ***** awesome.
- kirb59y, on 10/11/2007, -1/+8@don
The question is, Win how could Yoda not? - arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -2/+8Boba Fett? Boba Fett? Where?
- dethl, on 10/11/2007, -1/+7I found one of those R2-D2 mailboxes while I was touring around DC today. Very cool.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -5/+10How could Yoda not win?
- ahoy, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7*****, am I going to have to start collecting stamps now?
- tophtucker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5I have a feeling that 25 years living alone in a swamp (a) gave him a lot of time to think and consider where the Jedi went wrong, and (b) quieted him down quite a bit. Having his whole order wiped out probably helped, too.
- BobaFettTDG, on 10/11/2007, -4/+8@ sultran
Agreed. Fett was robbed. - friedman420, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2he's the only one that can fit on a postage stamp
- tophtucker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"I didn't see anyone say Yoda was the greatest master swordsman or anything."
Well actually, even in the prequels he's more about acrobatics and Force stuff than actual swordsmanship. Mace Windu, Obi Wan, Count Dooku--they're more swordsmanship-oriented. - Samsong, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5Oh yeh baby, I'd lick that.
Stamp. - tophtucker, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1I actually didn't vote for Yoda, although he's possibly my favorite character. This is supposed to be celebrating 30 years of Episode IV, after all, and he wasn't even in that. I voted for the twin sunset stamp, since I think it's more representative of ANH. There were a lot of good ones in there, though.
- arbulus, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1Early in Ep II, Obi Wan says to Anakin: "If you practiced your saber technique as much as your wit, you'd rival Master Yoda as a swordsman"
- ClunkClunk, on 10/11/2007, -4/+5At least it's old Muppet Yoda, not Lightsaber swingin' CGI Yoda.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2I didn't see anyone say Yoda was the greatest master swordsman or anything. In the original series, it came off to me that he was powerful *with the force* in his heyday, and also more of a master in the sense of someone who guides others, not "a master of kicking ass".
Of course, the original series was much more subtle and intelligent than the prequels. The prequels just felt like more Grade A Hollywood bullcrap, mixed in with an old, arrogant man trying to outdo his original masterpiece. - Tsen, on 10/11/2007, -1/+2Uh...guys, in the original trilogy Luke mentions that he's looking for a great warrior--hence, why Yoda IS a great warrior in the prequel trilogy.
- numeka, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0I love me some little green men. Off to the dark side, I shall retreat.
- capiCrimm, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1I wonder if yoda's like those toads you can lick...
- LaughingMan11, on 10/11/2007, -4/+4The CGI Yoda was really hard to look at... especially when he was bouncing around the room.
- g33b33, on 10/11/2007, -0/+0Damn I loved those movies. (wipes tear away)
- Meowbiusfox, on 10/11/2007, -1/+1Finally! A stamp dedicated to the Brigette the midget demographic!
Porn and STAMPS!,Extra "woo hoos" from me! Love it! - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2Sephiroth965:
He was about 20 years younger. He says he's what, 900 years old?
So he went from 880 to 900. Not a huge difference. My guess is that living on Dagobah shortened his life a lot. If Anakin never came around he'd probably have lived a lot longer...
That said, watching a 3d-rendered scene of Yoda fighting like some sort of stupid anime ninja pissed me off. - Rageous, on 10/11/2007, -3/+2I came off trigger-happy after the Michelle Malkin post on Jericho. My bad.
- sephiroth965, on 10/11/2007, -2/+1@LaughingMan11
That's just because he was younger in the prequel trilogy. - LaughingMan11, on 10/11/2007, -6/+4Not a complete travesty... but his portrayal in the prequel trilogy still rubbed me the wrong way. They turned him into a ball of energy instead of the contemplative, almost zen-like master in the Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.
- Pyroxene, on 10/11/2007, -7/+1STOP with the spoilers! First I find out Charlie dies in LOST and now this?!?
- riskybeats, on 10/11/2007, -10/+4Just incase you don't have the internet yet, you can show everyone you send mail how big of a nerd you are by slapping this on.
- phuzzy3d, on 10/11/2007, -11/+5Damn I was hoping for Jar Jar.
- MindTrigger, on 10/11/2007, -10/+2This sucks. I voted for Jar Jar.
- Rageous, on 10/11/2007, -21/+1Holy *****, front page with 72 diggs? Coupled with the amount of ads on that site, I smell foul play.
If you guys really are this interested in Star Wars stamps, all the hi-res images for them are here:
