- draxenato, on 04/02/2009, -6/+154Nooooo, not a return to the Roger Moore cheese :(
It's funny that Forster cites Daniel Craig's Bond as being closer to the character that Fleming created, a dark borderline sociopath, but then says he wants a lighter funnier Bond ? Does not compute.
To anyone who's read the Fleming books you'll know the 007 character was the original Dark Knight while the Batman was still in his own cheesy campy phase. Please let's keep Bond as a damaged but dangerous agent of, well maybe not justice but I'll settle for vengeance. - nofreee, on 04/02/2009, -8/+132Keep him dark and gritty. Much more entertaining to watch.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -4/+106Yeah, that worked well for Batman & Robin.
- PuterPrsn, on 04/02/2009, -2/+92If you've read any of the books, you'll know that "dark" is exactly right. He's not supposed to be "rogue-ish" despite what the earlier films portrayed. He's a hard, ruthless, spy for the Crown.
- cvraider7, on 04/02/2009, -17/+95Quantam of Solace was a Bond movie?
I just thought Daniel Craig was taking over as Jason Bourne... - Inflammo, on 04/02/2009, -4/+65We've already had the charming Bonds, I was enjoying the new style.
- twopoint0, on 04/02/2009, -9/+57Please don't go back to pansy Pierce Brosnan-style Bond. Daniel Craig is pure awesome (and would never appear in Mamma Mia)
- briansearles, on 04/02/2009, -1/+41^ Precisely why I appreciated Casino Royale and Quantum moreso then pretty much all the other Bond flicks. They just seem more REAL.
- freezerburn666, on 04/02/2009, -3/+38watching QOS was like watching a movie made for someone with ADD. every single action scene / car chase / fight was woven in with another action scene / car chase / fight. as you watch craig run in a foot chase, it flashes between scenes of that and a horse race. WTF? this was really over played in the movie. the fact that he is a "bad" agent for killing everyone in his path is pretty stupid, since he has a license to kill. they try to make him like jack bauer or something because jack always does what he has to do to get the job done even if he has to kill or torture someone. that behavour should be expected from a 00 agent.
- Jericho6, on 04/02/2009, -4/+39Quantum of Solace was really a second part of Casino Royale (and the revenge part), so I do think the powers that be will go with something new and a bit lighter for the next one. We'll have to see what it is.
- Gustomucho, on 04/02/2009, -3/+36EX-Director.
Please don't listen to him. Hard Bond is best Bond. Craig has a face that screams hardcore, don't try to change him to a flirty wuss. - mrhahn, on 04/02/2009, -1/+33Exactly. Although I didn't like QoS, the "new" Bond is definitely better.
- Frozo, on 04/02/2009, -2/+34And putting Batman and Robin on roller skates was a great idea too. <sigh> Just when I started liking 007 movies again.
- openlatenight, on 04/02/2009, -1/+32then you were never on the james bond train, that was a pretty early movie
- Elpants, on 04/02/2009, -4/+35As much as I enjoyed Sean Connery as 007, I think Daniel Craig is arguably the best Bond due to it being dark and gritty.
I wouldn't change anything, except Solace kinda had a lame evil villain/master plan. - defenswens26, on 04/02/2009, -7/+32Please no. These are arguably the best two bond movies I've ever seen, and it seems many people would agree with that sentiment.
- offrdbandit, on 04/02/2009, -0/+24How could anything seem more real than Moonraker?
- Pixelante, on 04/02/2009, -0/+24EARLY Bond movies with an invisible car? How old are you?
- Frozo, on 04/02/2009, -0/+23Missed it by THAT much.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -0/+21Marc Foster's Quantum of Solace was a big drop off from Martin Campbell's Casino Royale. It was a lot more of an action movie than CR, which would have been fine, except it sacrificed plot for action. I don't want Foster having input on the future of what seemed to be a very promising renewal of the Bond franchise.
- xanderdavis, on 04/02/2009, -3/+22And I thought they finally understood that we want a mature, intelligent Bond, a Bond true to the source material in Flemming's novels... not Bond to market to wives and kids...
- wedges, on 04/02/2009, -0/+18i didn't think Quantum suffered from a bad director, only a bad villain. he was boring! ohhhh nooooo he has a plot to sell expensive utilities. might as well put Bond up against Comcast next time.
- bobburn1, on 04/02/2009, -2/+19He was. No one had the presence of mind to let him know he was Bond, not Bourne.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -0/+16I'd pay to see bond vs comcast
- djbon2112, on 04/02/2009, -1/+17Also agreed. These Daniel Craig movies made me actually like James Bond, unlike just about every movie before it.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -1/+15Suck it Trebeck!
- wedges, on 04/02/2009, -0/+14goldeneye? yes. everything else? no.
- TexasShiv, on 04/02/2009, -11/+24Just bring back the catch phrases/cool gadgets/SEX
For the love of God, the last one didn't even feel like a Bond movie in the least bit. - Lasereth, on 04/02/2009, -2/+15There is nothing wrong with the current Bond style. They changed directors from Casino Royale to Quantum of Solace, that's why it sucked, not "the darker Bond." Casino Royale is proof that it can be done right with a good director.
- KMartSheriff, on 04/02/2009, -1/+14I partially agree with you. Casino Royale was perfect. Keep it on that track. Personally I felt Quantum was a bit too slow. In any case, Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond.
- harpoonhank420, on 04/02/2009, -9/+21Pierce Brosnan bond was the man
- luersuve, on 04/02/2009, -1/+12I've always said that if enemies don't kill Bond, an STD will do the job...
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -0/+11The producer has already stated that Bond 23 will be a continuation off the last two...the "Quantum" crime organization will return, and Marc Forster will not be returning as director....I don't know that he has much of a say in it.
- kkm3, on 04/02/2009, -1/+12QoS was more like Bourne. Way too much mindless action. The old bond movies were classy in their own way. If I want to see Bourne I'll go watch Bourne not Bond.
- Angostura, on 04/02/2009, -1/+11Thank God Forster's gone. I don't think I've ever seen a more incoherent movie. He simply didn't direct, from what I could tell.
- Falldog, on 04/02/2009, -0/+10Casino Royale had the perfect level of humor. Unfortunately, Quantum was missing a lot which is part of the reason why it fell flat.
If anything they should be on the same amount and type as seen in Casino. - gaqua, on 04/02/2009, -2/+11I don't mind bringing back a bit of comic relief, just don't make it Bond himself. Make it a peripheral character like Q or Felix Leiter. Not slapstick funny, but more Desmond Llewelyn smarmy style.
The last thing Bond movies need is slapstick humor. - mandarin, on 04/02/2009, -6/+15Are you kidding me? The reason the early Bond movies sucked because of that crap. Invisible car my ass.
Casino and Quantum actually brought a measure of respect. - Shiftyeyedgoat, on 04/02/2009, -2/+11Ugh, this is the only reason I actually started to watch the new Bond movies...
Much as the Joker evolved from a sneering prankster in the oldest DC comics into the current blood-thirsty anarchist, the new, realistic Bond is GOOD and pulls in a whole new demographic of fans.
Consider me not interested in the next iteration if this is indeed so. - oldhick, on 04/02/2009, -1/+9Daniel Craig is an actor, that played a bad ass. That's all.
- skotfarkis, on 04/02/2009, -1/+9I didn't care much for Bond movies UNTIL Casino Royale. Now that and QoS are two of my favorite movies. For me this would be a deal breaker.
- dalittle, on 04/02/2009, -0/+8They made bond cry in the last film, what is so wrong with him just being a bad ass like in Casino Royale or the early Sean Connery movies?
- dalittle, on 04/02/2009, -1/+9Sean Connery was better if that is what you were trying to say.
- bjs3171, on 04/02/2009, -1/+9yeah, what the hell was that about, anyway? Casino was perfect. Why change the director?
- punchinelli, on 04/02/2009, -0/+8Martin Campbell also directed Goldeneye, the best Brosnan Bond movie. He is a pro at shooting Bond movies. They definitely should have kept him.
- inactive, on 04/02/2009, -0/+7I'm really hoping Martin Campbell comes back, he did both Goldeneye and Casino Royale.
- shadowmanjack, on 04/02/2009, -0/+7Here are some suggestions:
1. Keep the camera steadier so I can see what the ***** is going on.
2. During action scenes, don't cut every .5 seconds SO I CAN SEE WHAT IS GOING ON! - inactive, on 04/02/2009, -1/+8THIS IS JAMES BOOOOOOONNNDDDD *kicks you into pit*
- offrdbandit, on 04/02/2009, -0/+7I definitely like the old style banter between Q and Bond, and I think it's indicative that the "old" Bond wasn't necessarily less of a sociopath than the "new" Bond. If you were to put the old Bond on the couch, he's a womanizer, he's impulsive, he's not very good at what he does (he gets discovered, caught, and usually trapped at some point every mission - possibly due to narcissism), he's anything but subtle (and has little regard for the consequences/aftermath/collateral damage of his actions), he has authority issues, he's an alcoholic, and he's extraordinarily good at manipulating those around him verbally to achieve his goals. If anything, the old Bond is more of a "real" sociopath (though clearly less of a "real" government operative) than the new Bond.
- slvrbullet87, on 04/02/2009, -0/+7Keep him dark if thats what the people want, but is it to much to ask to have Bond do some spying in the next movie? Running around punching people isnt spying.
