- Rndm_Tngnt, on 07/12/2008, -4/+86There was a boycott?
- JasonCox, on 07/12/2008, -6/+64The battle to save what? How come I've never heard of this?
- bstockwell, on 07/12/2008, -3/+46good, now we can all go not get laid
- mrfreeziexp, on 07/12/2008, -1/+39Sweet, I didn't even do anything and I got to help with something about Star Wars. Yay!
- daRoach, on 07/12/2008, -0/+32I tried to tell everyone 107 days ago... http://digg.com/movies/Stay_on_target_Darth_Weinst ...
- th3st, on 07/12/2008, -6/+34hell yea it actually worked ^_^
- akohut, on 07/12/2008, -0/+19Yeah, your "boycott" would have brought the Weinstein Company to its knees if they hadn't changed the movie. It's not like they're a huge production company or anything.
- Coven, on 07/12/2008, -0/+16No...Han shot. There was no second shot, therefore there is no need to say that he shot first.
- Rudegar, on 07/12/2008, -0/+11han shot first!
- malechite, on 07/12/2008, -0/+10Now the movie just needs to come out damnit!
- erydan, on 07/12/2008, -6/+16WOW We saved a crappy movie from being slightly less crappy to being as crappy as the director originally intended. GOOD WORK!!!
This movie being released at all is probably the only reason to boycott the Weinsteins so they learn in the future to not get involved in crappy movies. - cheddarhead92, on 07/12/2008, -2/+10that's why the internet is my favorite kind of net.
- Coven, on 07/12/2008, -0/+7This movie obviously isn't targeted at the general public. This movie has long been billed as the biggest fanfilm ever made. It was promoted to SW geeks at Celebration 4 last May in Los Angeles. The Star Wars community has been watching the progress of this film closely and it is those fans that the creators of the film were most interested in. Honestly, I couldn't give a ***** about what the general public thinks of the film.
- omyard, on 07/12/2008, -0/+6So?
- digitdean, on 07/12/2008, -0/+6It was a test screening in August of 2006, which is just about two (also known as "a couple") years ago. Doesn't speak terribly kindly of how long this movie's been in production, I'm afraid.
- Coven, on 07/12/2008, -2/+7"Jeez, diggers are getting dumber and more gullible by the day."
Yes, you are. - Phyltre, on 07/12/2008, -11/+16"'Or at this point, will anyone even care? I know the moment the movie resurfaces, I groan and roll my eyes, though I feel kind of bad in doing so. A gang of up-and-comers worked very hard on this little film, and I feel guilty for being mildly annoyed at it. Let's face it, if advertised as heavily as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, plenty of moviegoers will flock to it. They will only distantly remember news of a protest. It's only we Internet geeks who are battered to death with it...'"
Funny, I haven't heard of this movie or any such protest before. I also never heard of Forgetting Sarah Marshall. Somehow I doubt all "Internet geeks" are going to want to avoid the movie. - krwlngindark, on 07/12/2008, -0/+5oh, daRoach... turn that frown upside down!
- solidus636, on 07/12/2008, -0/+4uhh...?
IMDB states that it will release in April of '09.
We've got time. - rentmitchum, on 07/13/2008, -0/+4Wow, I'm surprised. I was about to type that as my comment, then before I did I searched the page for "dragon" and lo and behold, someone else had the same thought.
SAVE GOKU FROM BEING A HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT! LITERACY KILLS SAGA! - inactive, on 07/12/2008, -3/+6"We hereby end our boycott of the Weinstein Company! Thanks to all the diggers that helped make this happen!"
Are you ***** retarded? This was a publicity stunt by the weinsteins. Jeez, diggers are getting dumber and more gullible by the day. - Mpwns, on 07/12/2008, -2/+5now lets save the dragonball movie.... oh wait that comes out next month.
- Gandhilion, on 07/12/2008, -2/+5wait so are they also going to release the funny version?
- ZeroVector, on 07/12/2008, -0/+2There was a battle?
- roflwaffle07, on 07/12/2008, -1/+3***** yea! this is awesome. congrats everybody!
- mharber, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2someone call Boba Fett & cancel the bounty...
- desertDenizen, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2This is good news, but it's a sad day when this counts as a meaningful victory. If only Congress paid as much attention to its constituents.
- Coven, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2I stand corrected. I thought the first test screenings were back in spring 2007.
- bjornski, on 07/12/2008, -1/+3That's the only version I had an interest in.
- Pixelante, on 07/13/2008, -0/+2What's this "digg" I keep hearing about, and where do I buy one?
- digitdean, on 07/12/2008, -3/+5I actually got to see the original (cancer) version a couple of years ago, so I'm really, really glad that's the version we'll be getting.
H'ray! - Genshinx, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Yeah! You can finally go outside!
- inactive, on 07/12/2008, -1/+2i seriously don't know what movie has been saved....
- pyro789x, on 07/12/2008, -1/+2Aren't these the same people that begged us to go watch the movie anyway because they want our money and they think it's unfair of us to screw them over by not seeing their movie even though they decided to sell out and make the movie *****? I see nothing great about this, they are still simply protecting their own investment, and I will not be seeing it.
- idiotsavant, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1buried for being over-hyped viral promotional gag used by Weinstein Company
- Thumper13, on 07/13/2008, -1/+2***** asshats that comment on ***** of no interest to them.
- Mpwns, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1oh then it got pushed back last i heard it was coming out the same day as the new star wars movie
- Eldorian, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1It's people like you, JasonCox, who digg up and submit things that were on Digg just a couple weeks prior.
- noupsell, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBkA3R2Habo
- VinnieDaMac, on 07/13/2008, -1/+2I guess they realized that the only people who would probably want to see Fanboys are fans of Star Wars itself.
- eN1X, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Awesome, I can't wait to see the movie!
- rentmitchum, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Now save Dragonball!
- Jareth86, on 07/13/2008, -0/+1Don't bother protesting and writing, you won't do a damn thing... Wait, it actually worked? What is this strange emotion I'm feeling...
- Logal, on 07/12/2008, -1/+1Anyone who has seen the documentary 'Overnight' knows you don't ***** with Harvey Weinstein in Hollywood. Put it in your netflix queue. Other than that, I am really hoping this movie still gets a worthy distribution.
- punkcat, on 07/12/2008, -3/+3i betting the move was total crap, the Weinsein company realized this, tried to make at least somewhat entertaining and que nerds "oh nooooze" they changed it.
now i bet they are cutting the loses to get the one market that knew about it to buy it. - wwwonka, on 07/12/2008, -2/+2great. now there can be an HBO show based off the Hollywood exploits of a few Star Wars geeks saving a lame movie from being lamer. Maybe call it...Entourage 2:Still Trying to Get Laid On Hollywood Blvd
- dsmx, on 07/12/2008, -2/+1Bigger headline is digg changes the world again.
