- colbycampbell, on 08/18/2008, -2/+33Heat! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heat_(film)
- damack, on 08/18/2008, -2/+29Their both incredible actors which is why its even more disheartning to see them starring alongisde some moron called 50 cent who is apparently an actor now after his joke of a career in rap music when he has trouble putting together a coherent sentence let alone rapping.
Righteous Kill is going to be another Gigli and another mark against the name of both of these amazing actors and it's just sad to see them go from the top of the word and think sink to a low that most people didn't know existed.
De Niro will probably win us back with "Edge of Darkness" which looks like more than a crappy cheap blockbuster and I'm sure Pacino has something in store too but they really need to be a lot more selective about what they do. - inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+22Some of my fav actors but they have to really pick movies they do wisely. Been down hill for awhile
- MillionsLivio, on 08/18/2008, -0/+12Taxi Driver and Goodfellas, enough said.
- urik88, on 08/18/2008, -0/+10I think that the Al Pacino's role as the devil in "Devil's Advocate" should have been featured. His speech about god is amazing!

That video has some serious spoilers. You're warned. - inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+8Unfortunately, they have both become living parodies of themselves. I don't begrudge them that TOO much though. They worked hard early in their career to make these big paydays the last decade or so.
- convergent, on 08/18/2008, -0/+8I've got to say i like De Niro a little better, but both actors are amazing. I loved Awakenings with De Niro.
- sarog, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6such a lame list
slow day on digg - mrhedges, on 08/18/2008, -2/+8No mention of Heat (for either actor)? De Niro was fantastic as Vito Corleone in Godfather Part II, as well.
- twangbender, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6No Heat??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qIsZ0_qFUQA
No Fan??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKj3bhDOkgM - HighDeFJeFF, on 08/18/2008, -0/+6The Godfather, The Godfather II, Serpico and Dog Day Afternoon didn't?
You need a new map. - PoonGnarfler, on 08/18/2008, -0/+5But no Mean Streets for De Niro? Not decidedly badass (maybe just a worthy mention for this article), but definitely one of his best roles, in my opinion.
- ngmcs8203, on 08/18/2008, -1/+6Step 3. Van Damme?
I must have missed that cameo in Heat. - bicyclethief, on 08/18/2008, -4/+8SHE'S GOT A GREAT ASS
- haydukeqc, on 08/18/2008, -1/+5throw some Harvey Keitel in there, give em a run for their money... Mean Streets for life
- Devilboy666, on 08/18/2008, -0/+4...and you've got your head ALL THE WAY UP IT!
- Heat - zyxxyz, on 08/18/2008, -3/+7The lack of HEAT on either list is a sure sign that the author has never seen nor heard of it, and/or is a tasteless douchebag.
- HappyScrappy, on 08/18/2008, -1/+5Heat was a great movie, but Pacino did the same crap he always does, hamming it to the hilt.
If you want to see Pacino at his best, probably you need to see the Godfather movies or Glen Garry, Glen Ross. - MrZaiko, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3In my opinion, Carlito's Way should have been an honorable mention also for Pacino.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -1/+4Pacino was amazing in Scent of a Woman, but come on, who honestly plays a better devil than him?
- Niightwitch, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3You put Van Damme in the same category as DeNiro and Pacino? Hahahahahahahahahaha!!
- Niightwitch, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3Harvey Keitel, although not as well-known as DeNiro and Pacino, is well-deserving to be named with them. For all the roles in Scorcese's movies....and let's not forget his role as Mister Wolf in Pulp Fiction....that alone merits him being up there.
- life38, on 08/18/2008, -1/+4They can both be such a bad ass that I would be at a lost of which side to take. I think that either way you would lose.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+3It's not exactly a "badass" role, but Pacino in Dog Day afternoon is his best, in my opinion. Attica!
- ivansusanin, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Al Pacino was ***** amazing as Roy Cohn in "Angels in America" but I guess that didn't make the list cos it was a TV series (HBO)
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Oh jeez! This new movie with them sounds and looks sooooooo bad. Could be their 'Ishtar'.
What? No 'Cruising' for Al Pacino? C'mon! - FcukAllYall, on 08/18/2008, -3/+5I'm gonna go with Scarface on this one...put Pacino on the map
and Taxi Driver did the same for DeNiro - synystar, on 08/18/2008, -3/+5Pacino. Wait... I meant De Niro. No...Pacino. *****...De Niro. Screw this my head might explode.
- Residents, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2They're both extremely solid. But I have to say, movies like Taxi Driver and Ronin make me a bigger fan of Deniro. You will never hear me denounce Pacino. That's just my opinion and I respect all of yours.
- Mookeh, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2A few more Al Pacino's standouts - the aforementioned Glengary Glenn Ross, Heat (obviously), Insomnia (directed by Digg-favorite Christopher Nolan) and a truly great (for him) understated performance in Michael Mann's "The Insider".
- convergent, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2You serious? De Niro has played in all sorts of movies, ranging from comedy to horror.
- twangbender, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2the final scene was incredible
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hk1ea_nMkkc&feature ...
loved moby's "god moving over the face of the water"
http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n148/mellamolyl ... - Shakermaker, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2I dunno - for me Scent of a Woman and Heat felt like Pacino was overacting. I love Heat but there was a couple of times (especially in Heat) where Pacino just overdoes it
- KurtangleTN, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2De Niro FTW, Pachino can pull of good performances but De Niro has had some of the best in history. I still think Raging Bull is his best performance and the best I've ever seen. De Niro as Travis Bickles was brilliant as well.
I think the reason you see De Niro doing lesser roles is because De Niro as a method actor takes months and lives in his role, he's 65 years old and that's going to be tough for him. - redscofield, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2What about Ronin? De Niro was pretty dope in that movie...
- reclusiveraider, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Cop Land, anyone?
- Whitey07, on 08/18/2008, -0/+2Happy Birthday Robert De Niro.
- RecoDesign, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1After I get my vision back from reading all that white text on a black background, Ill type a comment.
- bashnu, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1"they have both become living parodies of themselves" - great analysis.
- jjfac, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Come on people. This list is lame....I'm getting tired of seeing amateurish stuff like this on dig.
Also, for those who don't know, Heat is a perfect film. Those who disagree-watch it again. And again and again and again until it sinks in. - sylaw, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Hopefully they don't phone this one in.
- TheSeeker11, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Here they are buying ice cream - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfDoDWlSp1o
- onestarleft, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1I don't know why you're being dugg down, I was thinking Tony Montana kicks the crap out of everything on that list including his own other roles. To each his own, I guess.
- Whitey07, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Awesome list, the classics everyone should at least watch.
- Samurai77, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Yup they missed Heat, the writer sucks.
- inactive, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Where's Heat at?
- sexyf, on 08/18/2008, -3/+4yeah, ***** cool..
- tme2k24, on 08/19/2008, -0/+1What, no Rocky and Bullwinkle mention for DeNiro?
- RonniSR, on 08/18/2008, -0/+1Don't think that Scent of a Woman should be on Pacino's list of bad ass roles.
He sure is a bad as in this movie but far from top 10 in my opinion.
Though he makes a bad ass speech in the end of the movie and this must be top 2 of Pacino's movie speeches.
Devil's Advocate about god speech is for sure the best he made so far and the best movie speech ever in my opinion.
Hard to decide who to vote on here, but for the best overall actor i would put it on De Niro. -
