- Eldorian, on 07/22/2008, -2/+32Without Christopher Nolan reinventing Batman we wouldn't even be talking about this with DC Comics.
Marvel still makes far superior movies if you take Nolan out of the picture. Anything else DC does (besides the animated series they do) comes out like crap. - PATSCRU, on 07/23/2008, -6/+26Iron Man was good summer fun, but Batman was a good ***** movie.
- soupdawg30, on 07/23/2008, -0/+17So far DC has only done good with Batman. Lets see them get another movie franchise going great then compare them to Marvel.
- inactive, on 07/22/2008, -6/+23Heath Ledger is actually going to be THE joker. Jack was a clown, not a criminal. This could be the best batman yet.
- bensully, on 07/23/2008, -1/+16I don't think anyone honestly expected Dark Knight to lose out to Iron Man. Dark Knight came with high expectations and soared above them, Iron Man came almost out of nowhere to be a surprise hit.
Personally I think DC comics are boring. I'm way more excited for the crossovers being set up in Iron Man and The Hulk, eventually leading up to an Avengers movie, than any thing DC will dump out.
Chris Nolan put out a perfect movie, but it will be the only one from DC. Don't expect much else. - Rookbird, on 07/23/2008, -1/+9Graphic novel is NOT a more "noble" term than comic book, nor should it be a proper noun. You can call the movie whatever the hell you want to, but it doesn't show more respect, it shows ignorance. Batman has been featured in comic books AND graphic novels; they are two different formats, not separated by maturity but by definition.
- aflaks, on 07/22/2008, -4/+12The only thing batman is missing is a Stan Lee cameo
- roadblock83, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7The dark knight was a sequel! So it cant even be compared to Ironman. When Ironman 2 comes out then you can compare it. Am i the only one who sees it like that? I bet Ironman 2 will set the bar again!
- BananaGrabber, on 07/23/2008, -0/+7It's not like it was much of a challenge. Iron Man has only been A-list recently while Batman has been an iconic figure for decades.
- ironwater, on 07/23/2008, -0/+6I think the relative 'Least I Could Do' would sum up the future of the comics ans movies.

- carter1337, on 07/23/2008, -0/+5Uh.... the movie is already out. FYI
- canudiggit123, on 07/23/2008, -1/+6Welllll Marvel has like 100 movies compared to DCs 1 Dark Night...
i loved it personally but they shouldn't act like there is gonna be a huge surge against Marvel, no yet at least.
Not to mention all the upcoming build up of the Avengers. - bigtizzle, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4That's because you're a pretentious *****.
- ijake, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Too bad Batman and those in the Batman Univers are the only interesting DC characters... don't argue, deep down inside you know it's true.
- inactive, on 07/23/2008, -2/+6*jacks off in your face*
just pretend I'm Christian Bale, you know you want to - inactive, on 07/23/2008, -0/+4Marvel has a WW II Captain America movie in the works. That, I can't wait for. If done right, it could be absolutely amazing...
With the Cap movie scheduled for May 2011, and the Avengers film scheduled for July 2011, I really hope they can pull off the cap movie ending with him being frozen, and the Avengers movie beginning with them discovering him and unfreezing him. In fact, that's the only logical thing to do. It's not the Avengers without Captain America.
I'm getting a nerdgasm just thinking about it. - whiteguysamurai, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Ironman was more exciting, and batman is more "tense" there was no trumping going on, and I'm sure nolan could be persuaded to do a script for a Marvel movie.
- TripcodeMel, on 07/23/2008, -0/+3Excelsior!
- LilJimmyNordin, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2The marketing machine for Dark Knight was turned way up, and the hype and Ledger's death didn't hurt one little bit. Dark Knight, while a great movie, was successful for many reasons OTHER than the movie itself. Iron Man was much, MUCH better than Batman Begins, and we should expect to see a similar increase between Iron Man and Iron Man 2: Electric Boogaloo, not only in the marketing effort and budget, but also in the resultant revenue.
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/23/2008, -1/+3Art evolves with society, that is why we care.
- pootpoot, on 07/23/2008, -0/+2Marvel Studios is fortunate in that they are an independent company. DC is owned by WB... and so they take less risks in funding when it comes to making these big budget movies. Hopefully, WB gets the hint and starts co-producing their super hero movies. Seriously... Where's the Green Lantern and the Flash movie?
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/23/2008, -2/+3Could be? Where are you? I had nightmares for the first time since I was a kid after seeing Heath Ledgers' Joker. Brilliant. F'ng Brilliant!
- bubbameister33, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Seth Green? WTF?
- elektronjunge, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Is it just me or is the newspaper guy's thumb in a bad place on superman?
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Success does =/= good. Marvel does not have good movies, they make fun ones.
- quomen, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Umm isn't that the point of a comic book? They're supposed to pique your imagination. Many of the Marvel movies have done just that for me. Superman? Not so much. lol
- TwwIX, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Could we have another Hulk remake?
- SirBruce, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Boobhole ftw!
- dashdingo, on 07/23/2008, -5/+6Dear god, I can only hope the next superhero movie is of Power Girl.
http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j255/fairygrl_20 ...
Please, please be Power Girl. - djruden, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Alan Scott is in the Justice Society. This is a picture of the Justice League.
- ansatsu29, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Both Marvel and DC have pretty decent characters that could be made into movies. The difference is how they make their comic characters to life, i mean to the silver screen. DC can still hold on with the so-called competition of super hero movies. They just need to find a director, an excellent script writer and of course, the budget to make the right super hero movie, just like what they did with The Dark Knight.
By far, in terms of substance, TDK can really knock Iron man from its throne and it will challenge the Iron man sequel to knock off TDK from the throne. - djruden, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Alan Scott is in the Justice Society, this pic is of the Justice League.
- SirBruce, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Buried for no Alan Scott.
- djruden, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Why does it gotta be Wally West and not Barry Allen?
- djruden, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Jay Garrick was never a flash.
- johnnyboy239, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1no..... it is nothing like saying daniel craig is better than sean connery as bond. Everyone loves Sean Connery as bond because he did it first and very well. Daniel Craig brought a different aspect of bond a la thunderball but more so. I can say that I still like Sean Connery as bond just because of the classic aspect, but Daniel Craig is in my mind nearly tied.
On the other hand, Heath Ledger's Joker was Without a doubt the best performance so far this year FAR outshadowing any other person to ever play the joker. We can safely all say that Heath Ledger played the best joker character, and No it has nothing to do with the fact that he died. - BadAshe86, on 07/23/2008, -0/+1Why not Jay Garrick?
- djruden, on 07/23/2008, -1/+2Well, based on the outfit, Kyle Rayner at this point is still Ion and not considered a green lantern. So the real answer is 3.

- SirBruce, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1"But, Bryan Singer's tired, overwrought and oddly feminine Superman Returns was a disappointment for fans and studio execs."
It was? - zebragrrl, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1trivia question... "how many green lanterns are there in that picture?"
- XFact0r, on 07/23/2008, -1/+1So you've forgotten the past 2 decades of ***** DC comics movies? Nolan's Batman is amazing, but it's about damn time they got it right after making so many Batman movies. DC has failed overall at making good comic book movies.
- inhaler, on 07/23/2008, -3/+2Nothing says sexy quite like "down syndrome eyes."
The doctor responds, "I can't tell you what you're missing, but I can tell you what you've got. It's an extra chromosome, babe." - caishiren, on 07/23/2008, -2/+0It is wonderful!!
- lamiaconfitor, on 07/23/2008, -3/+1You have to admidt, Batman started out as a comic, but matured into Graphic novel status after the whole Alan Moore/ Vertigo revolution.
