- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -7/+35I for one welcome our new water horse overlords.
- richmonkey3, on 01/25/2008, -1/+13best promo ever
- MacBandit, on 01/25/2008, -0/+10Yes Disney started doing this years ago but the scale of this is f'ing impressive. I want to see a 30 minute show done this way.
- Gir53457, on 01/25/2008, -1/+9This was made by Disney. Disney.
- sockpuppets, on 01/25/2008, -0/+7No doubt we'll see this in Vegas soon.
- egthareal, on 01/25/2008, -0/+6We've got a lot to learn from our japanese counterparts. That's friggin amazing!!!
- RetlawST, on 01/25/2008, -0/+6What's great about something this cool is that watching the video doesn't suspend disbelief because it's so awesome. These promos are standalone pieces of art, and I would love to see something like this in person.
- Kreigster, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5Yeah, Fantasmic. they are going to dredge out the lake in California Adventure so they can set up a bigger version. http://www.imagineears.com/wp-content/uploads/2007 ...
- polygons, on 01/25/2008, -0/+5I wonder if the Cloverfield monster could be done like this by the Brooklyn Bridge? Certainly would cause a hell of a lot of panic though, so it might be a bad idea, but one bad...ass idea.
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4Going to Tokyo is like going 25 years into the future. However, with the US slowly going BACK in time it seems more and more like the distant, what could have been future. Somehow, this is all Bush's fault, I just have a gut feeling about it.
- silentcollision, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4This is digg. We don't do as we're told.
- Wolfgarden, on 01/25/2008, -0/+4The Shark from back to the future 2.
- WanderingK, on 01/25/2008, -0/+3That's what i was thinking. They could market for the sequel by moving the equipment around so the monster "attacks" a few big harbours around the world.
- Porch, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2I wonder if it's 3D, or just projected on a flat sheet of water like Disney does it. Impressive none the less.
From the video comments:
"The narrator explains that it is just a flat water spray screen which the projector is aimed at. I think it only looks 3d from the frontal angle."
Bummer. - bluemist, on 01/25/2008, -1/+3If not for the new algorithm we won't see interesting stuff like this. You want more applescientologyronpaul headlines?
- funk49, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2That's a killer promo! Too bad the movie was a friggin snorefest.
- ssj2119, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Back to the future!!!
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -1/+3Holy ***** *****!
- GonadHunter, on 01/25/2008, -0/+2Giant Kareoke?
- ross., on 01/25/2008, -1/+3I thought that said 'best porno ever' at first..man I gotta get outta the house.
- ultralights, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1its the same principal, the water spray fountain has all sorts of stuff on it depending on what time of year it is, or event is happeneing
- polarbear66, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Disney has a 30 minute show of this... it's the last show they have during the day, lemme see if i can find the name of it
wow i'm having a hard time finding it
but its basically a show of villains vs heroes with a big water screen projector being integrated throughout
it's pretty sweet. - inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1That is freakin AWESOME!
- md5sal, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1damn u japanese
- Gir53457, on 01/25/2008, -2/+3bury this one
- palehorse864, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1If Sega had used this as a promotion for Sonic Adventure, they might still be selling hardware. (Well, probably not, but it would have been a brilliant promo considering it looks dead on for the chaos monster.)
- Jefkee, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1awsome
- WanderingK, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Flowers?!? Fireworks? And song lyrics?!?!
But those are all things you can go see in real life.
These are designed for monsters bursting out of the water and just hanging out, all roaring and stuff, possibly fighting one another.
What a colossal waste of potential awesomeness. - blankoboy, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Awesome airvertising...how long before this type of medium becomes widespread I wonder.
- shalecia, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1thats really awesome... looks great on camera i cant image how it looks close up
- Kschreck, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1This has got to be the coolest thing I have seen in quite some time.
- dkmccue, on 01/26/2008, -0/+1Holee Christ on a cracker!!! That is freakin' amazing! How do I get something like that for my back yard????
- QuestVR, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1Like the Back the Future II Jaws 19 scene, and its not even 2015 yet!
- ultralights, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1this type of thing has been in sydneys darling harbour for some time. though it usually displays flowers, fireworks or song lyrics
- inactive, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1OMG! LASERS!
Come on... You really think they would opt for lasers when they could just use a projector? - jeremyduffy, on 01/25/2008, -0/+1That's just neat. Don't know why you have to go to Japan to see it though. It seems like it would be an effective ad here too.
- Moosebri, on 01/25/2008, -1/+2Can we PLEASE stop bitching about the algorithm.... PLEASE! I've had enough with this crap! this is pretty ***** cool *****. I say just appreciate the art, not the politics.
- sapincher, on 01/25/2008, -0/+0that is ridiculous
i want a water-holo-graphic loch ness monster - jackiege, on 01/26/2008, -0/+0it's much easier than i thought how it functions, but still amazing.
- Krpano, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1sincerely, ***** gizmodo.
- crossers, on 07/18/2008, -0/+0oh it's amazing!

http://www.chasr.org/ - smumdax, on 01/25/2008, -1/+1This is an awesome sight to see... BUT, as many already said, Disney has this effect on a couple show they have. Namingly the night show at MGM Studios (now Hollywood Studios I believe), I think it's called Phantasmic. Also, at Epcot, they use these water effects in their night show as well... and believe it or not, I stumbled upon a YouTube video a couple weeks agao that actually explained how to make something similar at home... so... it is impressive, but it's nothing new.
- Shade2074, on 01/25/2008, -1/+0Reminds me of these guys:
