- GetItBuilt, on 09/26/2008, -3/+33Totally awesome. 'If you douse me again, and I'm not on fire, I'm donating you to a city college. '
- COLDshiver, on 09/27/2008, -2/+25I knew it! In Pic 14, the mask had "Random LED lights", that is the final missing piece to making my own Iron Man Suit.
- KarthVader, on 09/27/2008, -0/+18I would attribute the success of Iron Man to two things:
1. Robert Downey Jr.
The man IS Tony Stark and vice versa. His delivery and screen presence definitely made the character come alive.
2. A good Marvel movie since Spider Man
After Spider Man 3, Fantastic Four, The Hulk (first movie) and X-Men 3, critics must've been sick of seeing another potential flop from Marvel. The production quality of Iron Man surprised a lot of people. Also, Iron Man being one of the first summer blockbusters definitely helped.
On top of that, I think the recent movies featuring dark characters (Bond, Dark Knight, etc.) can be attributed to tough economic and political times. People need heroes during times such as this. But that argument/discussion is for another time.
This is what happens when you get people together who actually care about their product: Movies of excellent caliber are produced.
PLUS: How cool would it be to fly around in an armored suit?! - ganymede2010, on 09/27/2008, -7/+19Am I the only one in America that thought Iron Man was better then the Dark Knight? TDK was awesome, but Iron Man surpassed everyones expectations. Go ahead and digg me down. I'm use to by now.
- mattearle, on 09/27/2008, -2/+10So much great artistic work is sitting in the archives of corporations - companies like BMW or Lockheed must have thousands of these types of images. Very cool find.
- Shabadoo, on 09/27/2008, -4/+10No, I totally agree. TDK, while good, took itself way too seriously and I don't think it would've gotten as much love as it did if Heath Ledger didn't kick the bucket. Way overrated. Also, the realistic tact that Begins and TDK followed underlined how ridiculous the ending of TDK was with the whole cell phone as a microphone B.S.
Iron Man was just plain fun, and a much better ride than TDK. - eviljolly, on 09/27/2008, -0/+5I honestly liked them about as much. The only gripe I had about TDK was Batman's voice. Iron man was equally as kickass though. The CGI was amazing, other than the fact that nothing ever had a spec of dust on it until it gets hit, but hey I guess that's just part of the surrealism.
I guess I'd have to say if both of them had come out today, not having ever seen anything about either before, I would probably choose Iron man, so maybe it really is the better movie.
Then again, I always like movies with an underdog, and seeing Tony Stark escape like that was amazing. Batman would have probably just rigged the cameras to play in a loop while he sneaks out, called his batjet to come crashing through the wall, or something much less creative. :P - someguyfromuk, on 09/27/2008, -0/+4Love the stealth suit look on 4, clearly Raptor-inspired, no right angle pieces, a very jagged look.
- GlitchEnzo, on 09/27/2008, -0/+4Dugg just for the awesome art of War Machine. I certainly hope he shows up in Iron Man 2.
- WesleyRiot, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3i havent seen TDK yet, but Iron Man did blow everything away when it was out.
- supertaliman, on 09/27/2008, -2/+5Amazing how much work goes into Pre-Production
- ticketmack, on 09/27/2008, -1/+4I wish today were Sept. 30th.
- jkahrs595, on 09/27/2008, -2/+5I wish I had an Iron Man mask.
- Shabadoo, on 09/27/2008, -1/+4Awesome....can't wait for the DVD on Tuesday.
- ElectroStep, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3was anyone else botherd by Obadiah's suit? If you think about teh way he would be in it, everytime the suits knees would bendhe'd have his ankles snapped in two, his hands woul finish just past the elbow or something. It's too big to just fit around his limbs like the normal Iron man suit, but too small for him to be completely contained inside the torso.
The one thing that really bugged me watching that film. - shadeOfGrey, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3Iron man in 1080p is the only reason I bought a PS3
- Tyrghast, on 09/27/2008, -0/+3TDK had a slew of problems, from poor pacing to poor representation of Harvey Dent (he was supposed to be experiencing issues with split personality disorder long before his accident) to everyone having some pretty mundane dialogue and giving the joker all the quotable lines.
Also, death-hype. Don't say it wasn't there. Like Nirvana, TDK would not have been near as profitable if Ledger was alive. - UndeadOverlord, on 09/27/2008, -1/+3Is it just me or does 24 look...Samus-esque?
- Tyrghast, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Iron Man pre-dates Samus by at least 30 years, therefore samus looks Iron Man-esque.
- stump88, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2What really bothered me was how he managed to learn to control his armor so quickly. Tony had some difficulties at first, so, what makes Obadiah any better than him? A technopath? I don't think so...
- WesleyRiot, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2***** awesome concept art for an awesome film
- ElectroStep, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2Jesus christ, I'm sorry for all those typos.
- raydeen, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2I liked the fact that the original suit he built in the movie looked a lot like the original suit from the comics. Very retro. I had a Marvel giant comic once that featured that design. Looked like something out of 40's sci-f. :D
- Th0rus, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2***** the mask, just give me the suit.....or that Audi.
- raydeen, on 09/27/2008, -0/+2O_o
- abajaj2280, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1My favorite was picture 27.
I loved the movie. - Gangio, on 09/27/2008, -3/+4Really fascinating.
- richardbward, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Very Nice!
- NinjaPirateDude, on 09/27/2008, -1/+2concept art is always really cool to look at.
- stump88, on 09/27/2008, -0/+16th picture: War Machine FTW! :)
- sanman, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1that first pic is the most radical
they should have had that scene in the movie - tnag, on 09/27/2008, -2/+3You're not crazy! I haven't even bothered to watch the entirety of TDK, but I made a huge effort to see Iron Man.
Like someone said, TDK took itself too seriously. It was massively hyped and marketed as an extremely dark movie. Iron Man was fun, lively, full of action without the burden of a heavy and disheartening storyline. - KarthVader, on 09/27/2008, -1/+2While I don't agree, I can see tnag's and Shabadoo's reasoning. TDK is meant to be a dark movie. If Iron Man took itself too seriously, however, we would have another Marvel flop on our hands.
- Ducksa, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1All sites should pre-load pictures like this.
- sikomaniac, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1i love the work of Phil Saunders and was excited to see this post! he's got a blog with some images not in this gallery. http://philsaunders.blogspot.com/
- stump88, on 10/06/2008, -0/+1Actually, i think he's sittin in the Iron Monger armor, so it's more like a robot than an armor.
- stump88, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Awesome movie. Best movie of the year, until the Dark Knight came out :)
- silentb0b, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1I've watched iron man 9 times now. Best movie of the year IMO.
- gobears1001, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1I can't believe I actually had the urge to look at that. I'm such a nerd.
- betheturtle, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1This is the funniest one-sided conversation ever.
- Tyrghast, on 09/27/2008, -0/+1Irongasmic.
- Darksoul, on 09/28/2008, -0/+1Iron man is ***** cool as hell but he wouldn't stand a chance against Darth Vader he has been known to crush tanks.
- SSUK, on 09/27/2008, -1/+1What the ***** is wrong with you?
- bubba9999, on 09/27/2008, -1/+1You should see the concept art for Nights in Rodanthe . Richard Gere almost looks lifelike.
- tnag, on 09/27/2008, -0/+0The keyboard in one of the shots looks like the ultimate in typing comfortably. My left hand naturally goes to a sideways position for typing. Therefore, this needs to be made available, have a little hot rod red thrown in, and then be there for the masses.
Also, hooray Tuesday! - abajaj2280, on 09/27/2008, -1/+1Awesome...Pirate Bay has it!
- silentb0b, on 09/28/2008, -1/+1sorry, but no.
- MOJIRA, on 09/27/2008, -1/+1Somewhat unrelated, but I just thought of Iron Man vs Vader.
- acroyear2, on 09/27/2008, -2/+2She came home, woke me up at 1am and said she was breaking up with me. Told me she didn't like our bed, didn't like arguing about money, and told me I was bad in the sack and then suggested that I move out and she keep the apartment.
Why are you her? Guess what?! I threw away all your stuff! Not after pissing on it first. - mistafreeze, on 09/26/2008, -3/+3nice find
