"Confirmed: Christian Bale to Star in Terminator 4..
Christian Bale is in negotiations to star in", ...wait, negotiations?
..what's confirmed then?- haydesigner, on 12/02/2007, -1/+15Yeah, I think the submitter definitely needs to invest in a thesaurus.
- johnmalc, on 12/02/2007, -0/+14If Bale could go from 95lbs to 195lbs in 6 months, I expect him to at least top 280 in this next film. He shall make Ahnold look like a little girly man.
- IpecacNeat, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1Either that or get into politics.
- haydesigner, on 12/02/2007, -1/+15Yeah, I think the submitter definitely needs to invest in a thesaurus.
- gr0ss, on 12/02/2007, -5/+28Watch him in Equilibrium, enough said.
- IdanH14, on 12/02/2007, -22/+1In Rescue Dawn he was sucks too. I liked his acting only in Batman Begins. The rest, ick.
- fnaqzna, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Should have stuck to Rescue Dawn. That movie was awful. The rest... Equilibrium, The Machinist, Reign of Fire, Empire of the Sun, and American Psycho are all worth watching.
- jmpeagle, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3reign of fire? seriously? dragons in the future?
- chillbeast, on 12/03/2007, -0/+0sounded dumb to me as well, finally watched it a few months ago and actually quite enjoyed it.
- fnaqzna, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Should have stuck to Rescue Dawn. That movie was awful. The rest... Equilibrium, The Machinist, Reign of Fire, Empire of the Sun, and American Psycho are all worth watching.
- bariswheel, on 12/02/2007, -2/+6Equilibrium? Watch Batman begins, he really really shines there. I don't like frivolous action packed 2 second camera pan high fructose corn syrup packed bubble gum movies, but he sterilized all the bad that comes with a potential bubble-gum movie and made that movie a masterpiece.
- bugsy187, on 12/02/2007, -7/+3If you liked Equilibrium, read the novel 1984. It must have been the inspiration. 1984 is a wildly better story and has strong connections to real political moves of today.
- Sanchez, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3I haven't read 1984 but I'm pretty sure that it would be closer to Fahrenheit 451.
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -1/+19I have read both of them, and I'm amazed at how many diggers seem to only have read one book in their whole life.
- KargeOfTylenol, on 12/02/2007, -1/+5You are?
- drgmdp, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2"I haven't read 1984 but I'm pretty sure that it would be closer to Fahrenheit 451"
well, it's not
- Sanchez, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3I haven't read 1984 but I'm pretty sure that it would be closer to Fahrenheit 451.
- Fixhotep, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4It doesn't end there. American Psycho is his cornerstone, but also see The Machinist, The Prestige and Empire of the Sun. He was 13 in Empire of the Sun, but you could already see he was going to be a star. For some reason, this performance is passed over anytime people talk about great acting performances by a kid.
- fnaqzna, on 12/02/2007, -8/+2Unfortunately, Bale couldn't save The Prestige from itself. Really disappointing movie... I think the Illusionist was superior.
- metalhead87, on 12/02/2007, -1/+6To each his own, I guess. I loved The Prestige, but was really disappointed with the Illusionist.
- Akaji, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2The Prestige was great until they introduced the 'fantasy' element. I would have much preferred it to be a realistic fiction movie.
- metalhead87, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1I thought that aspect was known before going in........trailers I saw pretty much said there was supposed to be some sort of "real magic" going on, and there was the book the movie is based on, so I knew there was going to be a fantastical element.
- IdanH14, on 12/02/2007, -22/+1In Rescue Dawn he was sucks too. I liked his acting only in Batman Begins. The rest, ick.
- djphatjive, on 12/02/2007, -8/+3For a min there I thought he was going to be a Terminator. WWWWhhheewwwww... He is just being John Conner.
- badave, on 12/02/2007, -7/+13He's one of the few guys I'd go gay for. It's a very short list. Very few guys. Literally, FEW guys make it on this list.
You are not on this list. Thank you.- Sep11insidejob, on 12/02/2007, -3/+19Dood I am sure you have already crossed over.
- mathmanjeffy, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3So which one actually caused the change?
- kingsaliva, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3My short list...
Christian Bale, Clive Owen, Chris Hitchens.- guise, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1I'd prefer Clive Warren
- GianDoe, on 12/02/2007, -0/+9do many guys have these short lists? had no idea
- badave, on 02/07/2008, -0/+1I think a few do. Sorry for taking so long to reply, I doubt anyone will ever read this.
- Dhalgren, on 12/02/2007, -0/+11No, I would not let any guy stick his dick in my ass. Regardless of how "manly" he is, or "batmanly" he is.

Christian Bale is great, but anyone other than Edward Furlong is a step up. - cyrix, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2What about Bale in Newsies? He was brilliant.

- tcasey22, on 12/02/2007, -4/+21Did he rescue Batman, or did Nolan?
Thought so.- lordtyros, on 12/02/2007, -14/+2no, I'm pretty sure Christian Bale did it by himself.
- thedragon4453, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2I hope so. I wouldn't watch T4, but now that Bale is going to be in it, I may have to consider it.
- ogremidget, on 12/02/2007, -1/+3Question: How can John Connor be a punk-ass kid in T2 and then in T3 be a preppy?
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3And in T4 he'll be a jock.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+14He wasn't preppy in T3, he was a douchebag.
- Pikachelsea, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Wow. I haven't heard someone called "a preppy" since junior high.
- codered1322, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1Nah.
- tcasey22, on 12/02/2007, -4/+21Did he rescue Batman, or did Nolan?
- Ventolin, on 12/02/2007, -14/+96Christian Bale is awesome but doesn't anyone else think they're pushing the whole Terminator thing? Let it go gracefully.
- LittleMagnet, on 12/02/2007, -2/+16Unfortunately, if it makes tons of money, it's never going gracefully.
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -1/+21I've wanted to see a movie on the human resistance ever since the the dream/flashback scene from T1
- ferrariman60, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4"Let it go gracefully." While that would have been nice, that ship has sailed, my friend. Although if anyone could do it, It would be Bale. Look at what he did for Batman. Although I thank Christopher Nolan for that movie too. A skilled director, for sure.
- bariswheel, on 12/02/2007, -2/+4But it's not going gracefull, the last terminator movie was god awful.
- Pikachelsea, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Congratulations, that was his entire point.
- Meyithi, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1Personally I think they are pushing the Christian Bale thing. Not that I dislike him, but I will do if I see him in everything!
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+15http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h5ycB7m0jNo Start at 0:45
Fighting giant robots in a post apocalyptic city scattered with human skulls, with laser gun turrets strapped on the back of cars. COME-ON! Who DOESN'T want to see more of that? - MrSilverblood, on 12/02/2007, -3/+7Why should it be abandoned? It's a story, and there's still a ton left to tell. Sure we know the future will be a world torn apart by war with the machines, but beyond that we know very little. I welcome T4, and Christian Bale rocks.
For the record, I liked T1, T2 got on my nerves a little even though it was a summer blockbuster, and I loved T3. - mille716, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2Ventolin is right, its not going out gracefully. Don't get me wrong, Bale is perfect for the role but McG directing it is a death sentence for the movie.
- cgrier, on 12/02/2007, -12/+12is the governator in it too?
- colonelbuckshot, on 12/02/2007, -1/+8negative
- brainboy77, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4no, actually ah-nald has a 30 second cameo. when in doubt, always look to wikipedia.
- centran, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2There would be no need as the terminators will not be "skinned" in this movie but as robots.
The only spot for Arnold would be for infiltrating the humans that they discovered him then re-programmed and sent back in time.
- MacDaddyMac530, on 12/02/2007, -19/+8Its gona suck. Christian bale is a bad ass but its gona suck. No Arnald no Terminator.
- Supurcell, on 12/02/2007, -1/+14Actually, the formula is: No James Cameron, no terminator.
- supermanred, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Arnold is in it.
- fnaqzna, on 12/02/2007, -2/+3I believe our governor has more important things he should be doing.
- mostlyharmlezz, on 12/02/2007, -3/+20Honestly, if anyone can pull of future john conner it would be bale.... AND if anyone could pull of a new terminator it would be bale also.
I give this project a change with him in it.- stevenb486, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2I feel like that would be confusing to the audience of the movie
- liquidjamm, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Bale vs. Bale .. it's on
- solidhubris, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1The way they should do it is have Bale play both roles, Terminator and John Conner. Think about it, it could elevate the series from being just merely another action packed "ZOMG TEH EXPLOZIONS!!" movie and add a bit of psychological tension. As in, for most of the movie no one is really sure who is who, and trying to figure that out in the middle of an all out war.
- duddles, on 12/02/2007, -12/+5Oh c'mon, Edward Furlong is available and he is the right age!
- Nevotraz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+13And he's drunk and stoned all the time.
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1You mean he would give a performance like Nick Stahl's?
- joelito, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1So he is like Connor at the start of T3?
- fnaqzna, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Again, diggers fail to recognize sarcasm.
Dugg.
- Nevotraz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+13And he's drunk and stoned all the time.
- MadJollyRoger, on 12/02/2007, -8/+91Christian Bale is probably the best actor around right now.
- Archon810, on 12/02/2007, -0/+16What he did for Machinist is one proof of this.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -1/+8He's probably the best. or one of the best in his age range, but to say he's the best of all ages/types is a little much.
- codered1322, on 12/02/2007, -2/+10His urine cures cancer.
- Prometheus, on 12/02/2007, -1/+3Too bad he never... errr wait...
- CruJones, on 12/03/2007, -0/+1Buried for "probably."
- phuibonhoa, on 12/02/2007, -12/+6I'm confused I thought they stopped the war in 1, 2 and 3?
- Optimaximal, on 12/02/2007, -2/+12Did you actually watch T3?
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+5Don't encourage him. Just pretend it never happened.
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Or 1?
- colonelbuckshot, on 12/02/2007, -1/+5Anything goes when the franchise will gross $500m for crap like T3
- Optimaximal, on 12/02/2007, -2/+12Did you actually watch T3?
- schrutefan, on 12/02/2007, -13/+47He should be cast as the next Bond.
- Ventolin, on 12/02/2007, -2/+16Clive Owen would have been better.
- MOJIRA, on 05/17/2008, -0/+6Agreed, but Daniel Craig isn't bad.
- leftler, on 12/02/2007, -3/+5I don't know, Bale just doesn't have that suave that bond needs.
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -1/+9And Craig neither, but Craig kicks ass.
- rebotfc, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8Whilst Bale would make a great bond, he shouldn't take the part he will become type cast and it would be much harder for him to get other roles.
Also Daniel Craig isjust fine. - adoggz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4can't we just clone Sean Connery and cast him as the new Bond?
- drgmdp, on 12/02/2007, -2/+4do people really watch james bond movies..?
- merdiesel, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Great idea...
Just look at how bad ass he was as Bruce Wayne. I could totally see him playing Bond. - KungFuJesus, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Daniel Craig was a GREAT bond, i say we keep him.
- Ventolin, on 12/02/2007, -2/+16Clive Owen would have been better.
- Spamcan, on 12/02/2007, -1/+29They've been building up to this war for 3 freaking films and they couldn't have picked a better actor for the main role. As long as they keep the story on track and don't overdo the special effects this could be the best Terminator film yet even if it is sans-governator.
- DocHoliday22, on 12/02/2007, -7/+32He should go for President
- bariswheel, on 12/02/2007, -9/+4Idiots.
1. He's British
2. Just because someone has chiseled features does not qualify his to run a country. Do me a favor, please don't vote next time around.- bugsy187, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3Do you understand how Bush got elected now?
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -2/+7Because Bush has chiseled features? Don't think so.
- bugsy187, on 12/02/2007, -1/+1Did I say he has chiseled features?
- Pixelante, on 12/02/2007, -2/+7Because Bush has chiseled features? Don't think so.
- TerrorByteX, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7Oh wow.. It was probably just A JOKE.
- bugsy187, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3Do you understand how Bush got elected now?

- hardwareguy, on 12/02/2007, -0/+6I granted your wish, now sacrifice 72 virgins to your god.... No killing needed just tie them by the temple and i'll take care of the rest..........All over 18 also, gods don't want to be breaking no laws
- prophetpimp, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8girls who are 18 and are still virgin. boy you gonna get hit by a lot of uglies.
- MiddleOfNowhere, on 12/02/2007, -7/+20Eww. Christian Bale is one badass actor, but after the steaming pile of ***** that was T3, this might seriously hurt his career. On the other hand, he helped restarting the Batman franchise, so maybe there's hope.
- motbob, on 12/02/2007, -3/+60I wonder if any actor is more underrated than Mr. Bale. After Rescue Dawn, Batman Begins, and The Prestige, it's hard to find any other actor with so many starring roles in excellent movies in such a short time span. He turned a derivative script into a stellar performance in Equilibrium. He played the most complex of characters in American Psycho. He returned Batman to glory. What more could you ask for?
- swimmingbird67, on 12/02/2007, -0/+17don't forget what he went through to play his role in the machinist. and recently his work in i'm not there. AND 3:10 to yuma.
- Optimaximal, on 12/02/2007, -0/+16He ate an apple and a can of tuna a day for The Machinist!!!
- AgentKPB, on 12/02/2007, -2/+11He also apparently stars in Motbob's Homosexual Dream Sex Fiesta
- LimeParrot, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2He is easily the best actor in their prime right now.
- mille716, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1What more could you ask for? How about anybody else in the planet directing the movie other than McG.
- ThE0eNiGmA, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Be careful who you wish for...Uwe Boll, perhaps?
- Phernoree, on 12/02/2007, -7/+3Hopefully, instead of calling this T4 - it'll be a complete restart for the terminator series as Batman Begins was... Terminator Redux
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Batman needed reinvention, the first few may not have been bad, but they were no certainly no classics, unlike Terminator 1 and 2.
- Supurcell, on 12/02/2007, -2/+6Actually, Batman and Batman Returns, by Tim Burton, are classics.
- Phernoree, on 12/02/2007, -0/+0Firstly, this is the first movie not starring Arnold, so of course some reinvention is inevitable. Secondly, the 3rd movie was a complete mirror of Batman Forever in campiness and atrociousness. Thirdly, this movie will be the first terminator to take place after the nuclear war... and, now there's a respectable new face to carry the franchise (Bale). Stahl was just a bad idea taken way too far
- centran, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1In a way it will be a "restart" This is AFTER the robots take over so it will be a totally different movie.
People need to forget about the other Terminators movies and think of this/these new ones in a different light.
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1Batman needed reinvention, the first few may not have been bad, but they were no certainly no classics, unlike Terminator 1 and 2.
- tcasey22, on 12/02/2007, -6/+1He's good, but I think casting an actor that has little to no recognition would be the better move on the part of this movie. I just can't see Batman or the lead kid from The Newsies as John Connor.
- pixelate, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2I'm willing to bet that a few years ago you were saying you couldn't see the lead kid from Newsies as Batman.
- garths, on 12/02/2007, -4/+23It seems people don't agree with me, but I liked T3. The end was spooky, what with them holed up with the world going to hell. Then the voice comes over the radio, and John Connor's destiny smacks him in the head.
Having said that, T4 will be tough to do right. The actual war has always been this mythical unknown in the other movies, something huge and nightmarish. If they don't depict it well, it will ruin what we have been imagining all these years.- MackPrime, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7needs to be ... epic.
- prophetpimp, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Needs to have a big ***** Budget. Thats what killed of Matrix when the wasted most of the money on the stupid highway chase scene.
- zipzooka, on 12/02/2007, -0/+0So..Battle of Helm's Deep with lasers, epic?
- Battleloser, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3I want to downmod you for your first paragraph, and upmod you for your second.
So conflicted :-( - SohailKhanifar, on 12/02/2007, -1/+6I want to see a Children of Men style war.
- sdyson, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3T3 did nothing to progress the story. It told us nothing we didn't already know from the previous 2 films. It was just a film of lame action scenes and nods to the previous 2 films.
- Phernoree, on 12/02/2007, -0/+0I tried watching T3 last week, and couldn't do it....I stopped watching when Terminator said "Talk to the hand." That movie is awful.
- mediaploy, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2i had this same discussion with my friends last night while watching t2.
star rimmed sun glasses? come on!
- SQLDigger, on 12/02/2007, -1/+5I thought T3 was all right too. I liked the ending, anyway. I think it's interesting that T1 (which was awesome) came out in the the cold war, when everyone was reading Tom Clancy and watching movies like T1 and War Games while wondering when (not if) some douchebag was going to trigger armageddon. T2 comes right after the end of the cold war, and has the optimistic "maybe everything's gonna be all right after all" ending. Then T3 comes out after 9/11 and right as we're invading Iraq, and that's when the filmmakers decide to blow up the world.
Anyway, I think T4 will kick ass.
- MackPrime, on 12/02/2007, -0/+7needs to be ... epic.
- zaldoe, on 12/02/2007, -4/+2do you know that bale does every movie of his with a different accent ? wonder what he'll say this time... "Did you call *moi* a *****?" go bale go!!!
oh and please bring back arnold as the terminator ... no not the hasta la vista one ... the other "i'm back" one - matriculated, on 12/02/2007, -2/+9I think he'd make an awesome Terminator rather than John Connor. The dude is cut.
- Supurcell, on 12/02/2007, -3/+5Unless he uses his super skinny body that he likes to do from time to time.
- mackii, on 12/02/2007, -3/+3They should totally cast him as the terminator imo.
He can do the most cold as nails expression...
and I reckon he is the only person alive who could potentially steal the role from arnie.- monkeyboy7706, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Casting him as a Terminator would be a waste of his talents. While he would make a great Terminator Bale is fantastic when portraying characters with a lot of inner turmoil. Playing a John Connor who has to come to terms with knowingly sending people to their death in order to win the war fits Bale better than playing a cold ruthless Terminator would.
- piratearggghhh, on 12/02/2007, -2/+10As long as he doesn't use his Batman voice

- oilcan, on 12/02/2007, -16/+4CHRISTIAN BALE SUCKS. NOW OBEY MY COMMAND AND DIGG DOWN SERVANTS!
- pixelate, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2Alright, but what are down servants?
- teknikk7, on 12/02/2007, -2/+19Is anybody else worried about the director? Bale is great, but the director blows IMO.
- collinong, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Oh man, McG is gonna suck for this type of movie. He's a fast cut, music video director.
- MarrowMan, on 12/02/2007, -0/+2Agreed McG sucks
- Spetz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Probably the correct time to do this Terminator movie. Special effects are at such a level where they can now pull off a cool future war type movie for the whole movie, rather than just a few minutes at the start (T2). Christian Bale is a great actor, and I can see him as a John Connor.
- liquidhalcyon, on 12/02/2007, -0/+19Christian Bale could rock this movie off it's figurative chain. But McG as director? That dude couldn't direct the drive-thru line at McD's.
If anything could make this movie blow chunks, it's the choice of director.- SQLDigger, on 12/02/2007, -1/+7No *****. Did Cameron wash his hands of it? Executive producer of "The OC", for Christ's sake? Here's hoping that rumor turns out to be wrong. Even Michael Bay would be a better choice. At least the special effects wouldn't suck.
- stockjones, on 12/02/2007, -0/+5Cameron is the only one that could do a Terminator movie justice. He did 1 and 2 that was it. The rest are for studio schmucks trying to make a buck on the franchise.
- PottsyNZ, on 12/02/2007, -0/+8Awesome, a skynet war film has needed to be made since Cameron's great battle scenes in T2. Hell, the greatest thing about T3 was the prototype hunter killers.
- andrewcsayer, on 12/02/2007, -2/+13Terminator vs Alien vs Predator vs Shrek vs Batman vs Wolverine vs Magneto vs Justice League vs Iron Man vs Transformers vs Indiana Jones coming to a cinema near you in 2008/2009!

- Nevotraz, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4Forget John Connor, Patrick Bateman (American Psycho) would be a badass Terminator.

- HubrisDeadPan, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2It's a trap Christian Bale! Don't do it!
- c0baltfish, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1I don't get it, what is the trap exactly?
- HubrisDeadPan, on 12/03/2007, -0/+0It's a franchise that has been run into the ground by the third movie, I just don't think this movie will be a good one for his record and might tarnish it. =/
- c0baltfish, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1I don't get it, what is the trap exactly?
- sapo916, on 12/02/2007, -0/+3Not too bad, doesn't conform to the Arnold Image but neither did the new Bond and he did good.
- Sirlolalot, on 12/02/2007, -1/+7well, his dialogue has got to be better than "i'm john conner, i'm going to save the world" ,lets hope T4 can make up for that terrible crap that doesnt really exist T3.
- meatwaddancin, on 12/02/2007, -3/+0Have you seen this boy?
- c0baltfish, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1What's the point of this comment?
- Lanlost, on 12/02/2007, -1/+0I hope you are kidding.
- c0baltfish, on 12/02/2007, -0/+1No I'm aware of the quote from T2, I just meant that it doesn't apply to T4. There is no "boy" John Connor. I was just saying although it was a Terminator quote it has no relevance to the article.
- Lanlost, on 12/04/2007, -0/+0Touché

Wow, there's a movie that's going to suck. 'Let's make a realtime movie based off a crappy anime' - And for the record 99.99% of anime is just aimed at horny 12 year olds and it sucks.- victorc26, on 12/02/2007, -1/+2Hostile against other people's interests much?
- smek2, on 12/02/2007, -0/+4Incorrect and sensational headline (as usual): "Christian Bale is in NEGOTIATIONS to star in "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins," -- nothing is CONFIRMED about whether he will star in it or not. O and by the way Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,? What kind of moronic title is that? I smell crap already.
