- shadekeiko, on 10/28/2008, -0/+34I saw a screening of this a few weeks ago, and it was a great film. Definitely a ***** and I wouldn't necessarily say it was "enjoyable" to watch...but it was definitely thought provoking and disturbing. It's essentially a horror film, psychologically at least. I'd never see it again, but I'd urge everyone to see it at least once, if they can. It'll make you think.
- ibrahimcesar, on 10/30/2008, -0/+17Still waiting for Donald's "The 3"
- AmyVernon, on 10/29/2008, -0/+15I've loved everything Kaufman has done, even when it's tied my brain up in knots. Adaptation was truly brilliant.

- hamishmacdonald, on 10/30/2008, -0/+12I find English to be quite helpful, actually.
- cloudberries, on 10/30/2008, -0/+8He didn't swear, did he? Oh ***** hell, it's just non stop swearing these days isn't it? I'm with you on that one, jesus ***** christ it makes me sick out of my pissing mind.
- casbar, on 10/28/2008, -1/+8Great interview! Thanks.
- Tsumuji, on 10/30/2008, -0/+5What the hell are you talking about?
- scatterbrain, on 10/31/2008, -0/+4Oddly enough, "mind-*****" was one of the first words out of my mouth after having seen the film. I could think of NO better way of putting it; it was just "a mind-***** of a film". I found myself repeating that very phrase several times that night. Reading it here only furthers this notion; therefore, the language was truly necessary.
- scottja35, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4Even Human Nature?
(I'm with you 100% on Adaptation.) - inactive, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4Valentine's day is a holiday created by greeting card companies to make people feel like crap.
- Dagreenman, on 10/30/2008, -0/+4it's a shame that I have to wait till the DVD to see it, since none of the theatres in my area will screen it.
Adaptation fcking rocks and is the best non-retarded thing Nick Cage has ever done. - scottja35, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3Which movie do I see first: Let the Right One In or Synecdoche, NY?
- BradOFarrell, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3I'm a huge Kaufman fan (Adaptation is probably one of my favorite movies ever) and I thought it was awful. A lot of the philosophical concepts were redundant considering his previous work (some of them were almost line-for-line the same as lines from Malkovich or Adaptation or Sunshine) and the movie had pretty much the worst pacing I've ever seen. The last hour of it seems to drag on forever. In all of his other movies, things were air tight, and no one scene could be removed without ruining it. Very few of the scenes felt essential, and a lot of time was spent making slight variations of the same points. I know that Kaufman isn't like John Waters, he's not someone who believes that an 'artsy' movie can be successful without being mainstream entertaining (in fact, that idea is what Adaptation was about), and this movie was NOT entertaining. It was 'neat' or 'thought provoking' but there is no way it was enjoyable to watch. Maybe it's just because he's new at directing, but I was really disappointed in it, and I think he'll be too.
- CarolineAttack, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3Can't wait for Let the Right One in!

Seriously, check out the full plot synopsis. - jasonllester, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3Saw a screening last week...best film of the year so far. Hands down.
Kaufman consistently turns out nothing but genius. - andrewlotta, on 10/30/2008, -0/+3In my opinion, Philip Seymour Hoffman is the greatest actor of our day, anything with him in it is bound to be great.
Before the Devil Knows Your Dead, The Savages, Charlie Wilson's War, Capote...all excellent films that he starred in. - BowieX, on 10/30/2008, -0/+2Write yourself into a movie script where it gets made.
- inactive, on 10/30/2008, -0/+2*patiently waiting for it to roll into theaters here*
- scatterbrain, on 10/31/2008, -0/+2only recently did I found out it's true pronunciation, but I've been saying "sin eck dosh" where the "o" sounds like it does in "bone". "sin eck douche" was fun while it lasted.
- kmb1794, on 10/30/2008, -0/+2"I wanted to love this [review] ...But [it] could have been trimmed to a far more palatable shape that would have better showcased its bizarre sensibility and made its biggest themes bolder."
- Scrappy1850, on 10/30/2008, -1/+3sounds like donnie darko
