- bixby1, on 11/09/2008, -0/+17I've heard that Cameron is planning on making this film his opus. He's waited a decade to come out from Titanic's shadow. I expect he will deliver the goods.
- ThatEvilGuy, on 11/09/2008, -0/+11The Abyss.
- protodon, on 11/09/2008, -0/+9Hey! They are making that great cartoon into a movie trilogy (that's good). However, M Night Shymalan is directing it (that's bad) But they are building a studio to film a lot of it in Philly(that's good) But I probably still won't end up in the movie(that's bad)
- Xalorous, on 11/09/2008, -0/+82 different 'avatar' movies coming out. One is the James Cameron SF movie referred to here, the other is Shyalaman's adaptation of Avatar:The Last Airbender.
- djphatjive, on 11/09/2008, -3/+9M. Night Shyamalan is making Avatar the cartoon a live action I think.
From WIKI
"On January 8, 2007, it was announced that Shyamalan would write, direct and produce the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, an animated TV series on the children's cable channel Nickelodeon, a series influenced by Asian art, mythology and various martial-arts fighting styles. The movie will be produced for Paramount Pictures' MTV Films and Nick Movies. The trade paper Variety later reported Shyamalan would film Avatar after The Happening.[33]"
So this is no cartoon folks. - Disinterested, on 11/09/2008, -0/+5@Pedobear
hey i really liked that cartoon - andrewlotta, on 11/09/2008, -0/+4This film won't touch Aquaman.
- opticwind, on 11/09/2008, -0/+4Tron?
- CarStan, on 11/09/2008, -1/+4Because its so expensive, if it doesnt reach Dark-Knight-like Hype, it will be a financial failure. (Or because it'll be so awesome, everybody NEEDS to see it)
- ATLien74, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2I'm all for more 3D movies!
- AmazingSteve, on 11/09/2008, -0/+2What a TWIST!!!!
- christianw, on 11/10/2008, -0/+2this isnt his opus. this is all a test for the technology hes been working on for 10 years so that he can bring us "Battle Angel Alita"
god damn i cant wait.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0437086/ - inactive, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1I don't think there's any Irish person or Scot (or Welsh, or Manx, etc) who has any difficulty understanding why the English accent is the evil one.
- inactive, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Yes, your people are in the wrong here, and always have been. Not terribly surprising given your original germanic stock. I suppose you cannot change your genes.
- Fartbandit, on 11/09/2008, -2/+3I fully expect avatar to be awesome but im more interested in the Battle Angel film trilogy he's developing as a follow up!
- KMartSheriff, on 11/09/2008, -1/+2It's James ***** Cameron, of course he will deliver the goods. :)
- gradivus, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Extremely different 3D technology. You may as well compare an atari to a $2000 gaming rig. Anyone who say Journey to the center of the Earth 3D knows what I am talking about.
2D films should die and go away, 3D and IMAX are the future. - leno1976, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1Piranhas 2! just kidding, this film will be a monster, cant wait.
- andrewlotta, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1A James Cameron film with no story...yeah...do some research.
- AbsurdWreckage, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1Dugg for Sigourney Weaver.
- cmkennedy, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1Imagine all the kids' faces when they're told the upcoming big-budget Avatar movie isn't about their favorite Airbender.
Sounds promising, but it's more than a year off. In today's give-it-to-me-now society, I just can't get excited. Yet. - stockjones, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1I will not miss this movie. The tech in it is suppose to be amazing. And its Cameron.
- illt, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1finally technology is up to cameron's standards to make it.
just glad it's finally coming.
apparently his 3d tech is less straining on the eyes as well. - illt, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1uhm, well history shows, that cameron is the king of big budget blockbusters.
none of them are bad.
he also writes most of his original stories.
as much hype as cameron garners around his movies, he has yet to really fail. - stockjones, on 11/10/2008, -0/+1You are wrong on so many levels. The tech being used in this film is completely new. It was partially developed by Cameron himself and many other directors are calling the tidbits they seen revolutionary.
- bagboyrebel, on 11/09/2008, -0/+1@nospinehere
IMAX is showing up in actual movie theaters, there's one about 5-10 minutes from my house. - Oztog, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1Man that is going to suck, too bad
- moothemagiccow, on 11/09/2008, -0/+0It's not a blockbuster if not even one person has seen it. Gosh
- ShadOJack, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1live action 3d. Name one from the 80's that was a good movie without the glasses.
- kawstick, on 11/09/2008, -0/+0Magnum Opus
- Fartbandit, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1Dug up because you'll probably get dug down for expression a mere opinion. :)
- opticwind, on 11/09/2008, -1/+1gandalf the gray and gandalf the white, monty python and the holy grail's black night, jombie the genie, and the blue meanie, cowboy curtis and
- Threlly1, on 11/09/2008, -1/+0Nice to see you answered me in the language of MY birthright.
Also funny, how the aforementioned nations didn't mind going along with the English when it suits them.
So please, please ***** off. - nospinhere, on 11/09/2008, -2/+1Isn't IMAX the death of films? I mean if the only place it's showing is the local planetarium, how many people can they get?
- jhails, on 11/09/2008, -4/+2This movie will suck but it will have the advantage of sucking in 3 dimensions!
CGI effects............check

- inactive, on 11/09/2008, -4/+1"As an Avatar -- a human mind in an alien body -- he finds himself torn between two worlds, fighting for his own survival and that of the indigenous people. "
Dumb. Next. - nurbsenvi, on 11/09/2008, -4/+0Why did you have to this almost 13 months before it's release?
- inactive, on 11/09/2008, -6/+2this sounds amazing, but why do people keep giving that Scientologist Ribisi work? BAN!
- Threlly1, on 11/09/2008, -6/+1Titanic was bollocks.
Aliens was guns, guns, guns, it lead a high-concept Sci-Fi idea down a right-wing Heinlein cul-de-sac.
Terminator, again, steal from Philip. K. Dick and stick more guns in it.
I can't wait for the scintillating script in Avatar, I wonder how long it will take for the stars'n'stripes to appear ?
Probably just before the bad guys, who for some reason have English accents, do.......... - Pedobear, on 11/09/2008, -12/+1When I first clicked the link, I thought it was a movie based on that retarded cartoon. I'm pretty relieved to find out that it isn't.
