- bluenile, on 10/25/2009, -6/+338I love that he's taking a stand against Scientology's San Diego Church of anti-gay. Not to mention the general pwnage that can only come when a professional writer has you in his literary crosshairs. bravo.
- vsujohn2, on 10/25/2009, -5/+293This guy is gonna end up dead soon. And its gonna be an "accident" or a "suicide".
- HisNoodly, on 10/26/2009, -2/+231He still buys into the ***** they're selling, he just doesn't support the organisation. This is interesting.
Now here's an idea: if you have to believe this ludicrous *****, but don't want to play with the evil bastards making money off it, why not reverse-engineer an open-source version?
If there are techniques out there that you think do some good, research them yourself, from scratch, and release your copyright-free findings to the public domain. The Church holds rights to the things it specifically wrote and designed, not to the Way The Universe Works.
Now obviously I think the whole thing is a complete pile of *****, but don't let that stop you. Make your own anti-authoritarian, non-exploitable, copyleft non-organisation, allowing people to reap, share and develop the supposed benefits at will.
Gnu quaker scientology.
***** *****, I think I just scared myself. - depro9, on 10/26/2009, -1/+201Anonymous tests an E-meter

MYTH BUSTED! - IgorUnchained, on 10/25/2009, -6/+152Im glad to see that, with all of that deep study and self reflection, that one of those people actually came up with the right call.
I dont care what religion, political party, or organization you are a part of.....when you sign up as a member you are complicit in their crimes when you support them. Live with your conscience and "religion" is an afterthought. - yeahaboutthat, on 10/26/2009, -3/+144Quick, Someone put up the Bat signal for Anonymous!
- temsi, on 10/26/2009, -9/+131You have no clue what the ***** you're talking about.
Today's administration isn't even liberal, let alone socialist.
It's clear you don't even know what it is. - no12u, on 10/26/2009, -0/+110It's great to see someone stand up for their convictions. As the truth about Scientology spreads I think more and more celebs will be turning away from the cult. Hail Xenu!!!
- Kettek, on 10/26/2009, -4/+97Another celeb leaving scientology is good, but unfortunately it's not because they realize "holy *****, what the ***** was I thinking joining this retarded cult?!"
It's because scientology has been getting tons of very public negative press recently, and that's rubbing off on their influence to push product. Any celeb who joined and stayed in scientology as long as some of them have are irrevocably tainted with stupid. No matter how much they say they're through with it. - jasmus, on 10/26/2009, -1/+90Sound the RickRoll!
- DDRSkata, on 10/25/2009, -1/+89Are you from the future? All the movies in the description are from the last decade.
- inactive, on 10/26/2009, -1/+83WHY IS ANYONE A SCIENTOLOGIST!?!
- SaladCactusKing, on 10/26/2009, -1/+79Good news. He's a brilliant writer who helped make Casino Royale not lame and I was crushed to find out he was a Scilon.
- SandWraith, on 10/26/2009, -0/+68Awesome Youtube comment from that link:
"I used one when I went to the Adelaide scientology church for the test. When he was asking questions I got curious, so when he'd say something like...about other people having parents die in a car crash I squeezed it...and the machine went off. He was like 'Oh...your parents died in a car accident' and I was like 'what...no'. Did that for like half an hour, he ended up looking very confused" (from mikethetowns2) - no12u, on 10/26/2009, -0/+66Geez, I wouldn't be surprised. But, I hope not!
- theSistem, on 10/26/2009, -1/+66mother ***** dugg.
- HouseofEl, on 10/26/2009, -0/+64Wonderful to hear that some of these people are finally waking up. Haggis isn't someone they can ignore. It's great to see him directly address it and stand up for the issues rather than just leave and keep quiet.
- no12u, on 10/26/2009, -1/+58Aaaand....the Kooky Rant Award goes to LilRabbitFooFoo!!!!
- NiftyG, on 10/26/2009, -0/+57Scientology is already reverse engineered. L Ron Hubbard stole bits and pieces from other religions and rewrote it as a science fiction novel, then added a big dose of megalomania and greed to turn it into a cult.
One example of a concept stolen from somewhere else is their whole "being clear" thing. It's basically the Buddhist concept of non-attachment, but crudely implemented. - no12u, on 10/26/2009, -0/+57Yeah, it's a pretty well written letter. After Tommy Davis' embarrassing interview on Nightline this weekend, this announcement must really sting!
- gaqua, on 10/26/2009, -5/+61What in God's name are you talking about?
Not everything has to come down to your hatred of the current administration. It's annoying and it's ignorant.
You're entitled to your opinion of course, but somebody who constantly spouts it when it's not requested is boorish and tactless.
Please let all the blood out of your body through a series of elaborate puncture wounds. - acdtrux, on 10/26/2009, -0/+52lolcats untie!
- terminal157, on 10/26/2009, -1/+51Already exists. It's called the Free Zone.

Most of these people seem to be in an odd gray area wherein they're aware of the corruption in Scientology but can't admit/believe that Hubbard himself was a corrupt fraud. - SpeedSteamBoat, on 10/26/2009, -2/+50I'm so glad you found a way to make this completely unrelated story about bashing Obama.
For a second I thought things were going to be allowed to be apolitical!
What a relief. /s - mashedup, on 10/26/2009, -1/+48@theavenger2
I live in the UK and sometimes in New Zealand. They both have Government run health care and it works. Nobody thinks it's socialist. But then that word doesn't really mean anything outside of the US.
In the 1950s a mean chronic alcoholic, wife basher and intellectually defunct man called Joseph McCarthy used to ruin peoples lives in your country. He did this by making idiots believe that half the country had turned commie and socialist. After a while people got sick of him talking out his arse and began to feel rather embarrassed about the whole thing. McCarthy was the Glenn Beck of his day and you are the village idiot believing it. - quirkopatra, on 10/26/2009, -1/+47Mr. Cruise, is that you?
- energyx, on 10/26/2009, -0/+45because all of their friends are
- temsi, on 10/26/2009, -1/+45You just proved my point.
That is not socialism, and you clearly don't know what Socialism is.
Google is your friend. - quirkopatra, on 10/26/2009, -0/+44When learning about cults, some things that are taught as indications that something is a cult:
1) They solicit confessions of sins and wrongdoing, then if a person thinks of leaving the threat of revealing the wrongdoings hangs over their head. It's my understanding Scientology audits people, you have to figure that stuff is on file.
2) They encourage you to cut off relationships with loved ones who are not believers. - opalarmor, on 10/26/2009, -1/+44...wait, Terry Schiavo story is 20 years out of date?
- terminal157, on 10/26/2009, -1/+43Ignorance.
- InactiveUser, on 10/26/2009, -2/+41What is it about cults that people get hooked on? I just don't get it...
ps. Where can I find a sex cult of late teen females who like geeks only, and do wicked things? - Leminnes, on 10/26/2009, -1/+39Never piss off a writer. Awful idea.
- iheartbakon, on 10/26/2009, -0/+34We can always hope this guy is going to be the one to open the eyes of the feds and finally clamp down on scientology - but I suspect scientologists have already infiltrated the law.
- HisNoodly, on 10/26/2009, -1/+34Well, ***** me. One day I'll have a genuinely new idea. One day.
- Fazaman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+33Follow the link at the end. It wasn't just the gay rights thing:
"And that is when I read the recent articles in the St. Petersburg Times. They left me dumbstruck and horrified."
and he goes on. Good stuff. - withoutamartyr, on 10/26/2009, -0/+33I did that once. They'd ask question about the good things about my life and I'd squeeze the tubes to make the needle jump, and when they managed to pull the 'bad' out of me, I didn't squeeze at all. The look of confusion was worth getting escorted out by security.
- altgeeky1, on 10/26/2009, -0/+32More likely that sonme kind of "material" will be planted on his computer....
- nyxerebos, on 10/26/2009, -0/+32I will join your quest to find this cult.
- Hecubus452, on 10/26/2009, -3/+34He couldn't find a better reason to quit scientology?
"Sure they're a violent, sadistic cult, but as soon as you mess with gay people, I quit."
Come on - whirlingderv, on 10/26/2009, -1/+30this letter is beautiful. i'd suggest people read the full text, linked at the bottom, as good parts were cut out on this page. in the full version, you'll see that Haggis doesn't arrogantly "list his numerous awards" at the end of the letter, as this blog says, but rather he lists his involvements with many charitable, progressive organizations and human and civil rights groups; he's not bragging, he's just telling them that they should have known he wasn't going to just shut up and roll over on the Prop 8 issue.
Kudos to Haggis. He's got even more of a fan in me now.
Full letter: (letter starts below a brief bio of Haggis) http://www.scientology-cult.com/declarations-of-in ... - Fazaman, on 10/26/2009, -0/+29Copied (and severely edited) from Marty Rathburn's blog. Here's the original:

- candre23, on 10/26/2009, -1/+27How many theten points does galactic emperor zenu award you for shilling on Digg? Do you get enough for a shiny new tinfoil hat, or does that require spreading the crazy to multiple sites?
- MaTT2011, on 10/26/2009, -1/+27The Lil Rabbit doth protest too much, methinks.
Your criticism seems far too vitriolic and emotional to be taken seriously, it almost seems as though the scientologists have begun their baseless, and confusing, smear campaign already... - CUGI08, on 10/26/2009, -0/+26@mashedup isn't it funny how non-Americans know American History better than Americans?
- wjr5108, on 10/26/2009, -1/+26That is an outstanding articulation of a heroic, moral stand, and cannot be ignored by the iniquitous. I would like to think (but am not optimistic) that other Scientologists will step-up and support Mr.Haggis and I look forward to this courageous individual's future endeavors.
- chevymonster, on 10/26/2009, -1/+26Bad! Bad! You have sullied the good Cylon name with this trash Scientology!
- JackSrenton, on 10/26/2009, -0/+24@CUGI08
If Funny = Depressing. Then yes, very very funny :( - bobjrn2, on 10/26/2009, -3/+27I'm pretty sure all religions are fake religions, no need to specify.
