- sishgupta, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1if people are curious to the above references:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Darmok_(TNG_episode) - Moses, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2This discussion is disgusting.
The only thing more disgusting is that I also knew the references off the top of my head. - ultimate_ed, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Well, this Digg cloud actually works. I doubt I'd have found this one otherwise.
I, too, recognized the references to the TNG episode. WTF is up with wikipedia? Does each episode really have an article? No wonder their pushing 1 million if they're sandbagging like that.
Too bad to see how Trek has fallen. The last season of Enterprise was getting good and Nemesis was actually a good movie that had the misfortune of going against The Lord of the Rings. - motionblur, on 10/12/2007, -1/+0"Doca when the walls fell..."

- adml_shake, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I don't really see how this is good news....
- GreenSlabOfClay, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I loved the old Star Trek when they showed "camel toe".
Now don't get me wrong, the new Trek has our Vulcan compatriate wearing body paint.
But for God sakes, bring back the camel toe! - g30ph, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Temba, his arms wide! Give me more Trek!

OMG people, you rock! - LakeMan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Les Moonves killed Star Trek Enterprise, and the game of musical chairs still leaves Moonves in charge.
- hadees, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0So what exactly was the point of spliting up Viacom and CBS? Doesn't make any sense, they all are in the same biz.
- Rocksteady, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0ok ok, it was artistic license!!
It really reads, "Mirab, his sails unfurled" - Bren, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Oh my baby, I've missed you so!!!

...As long as they never distribute to UPN again. - warmonger48, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1THE reason why TNG was good was b/c of Michael Piller and since he's now dead we have to put up with the hacks Rick Berman and Brandon Braga. Let the series rest for a while, get some people who are passionate about the material, and get a few people who know how to write a story.
- swight, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Braga said he's leaving trek, hopefully permanently, we do need fresh blood in there, no doubt about it. Someone more in line with Roddenbery. Maybe Roddenbery's son is old enough to take the reins.
- dargon, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0You've got to be kidding that Nemesis was good and only did poorly because of LotR. The only explaination for that belief is that you have some serious drugs nearby that you are injecting, injesting and snorting all at the same time. The only trek movie worse than nemesis was Final Frontier aka let's go find god and kick his ass
- samdu, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I thought it was Berman that said he was leaving Trek.

Yeah the new Enterprise series is actually a rape of the whole Trek..
Being a fan of the TOS and TNG, I could not bring myself to watch the "Quantum Leap" Scott Bakula, jesus, I tried to watch a few episodes but I had to delete them and try to contain my anger which was so huge I cannot even explain it properly here..
Some episodes of The Deep Space Nine sucked real bad also, although the guy from "Spencer for Hire", "Hawk" was not too bad, he did his job well, but the show was a bit boring at times..
Also the Voyager was watchable, but could have been lot better, the episodes started to get rather uninteresting during the later seasons...
I agree with warmonger48 on the fact that good writers and people who understand the Trek thing are needed if there is to be series comparable to the first two.. (not counting TAS) - Amplix, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0whoops.. i gues i sent that prematurely.. Back on topic, I kind of hope to see a Captain Riker based ST maybe that would be interesting.
- VipeNess, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0bout time~!
- samalex1701, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I haven't laughed this much at Digg comments in a LONG time. I hope CBS does something worth wild with Trek, and if they want to create a new season have'em get some pointers from Battlestar Galactic... that's the kinda show Enterprise should've been.
- Hendo, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0I gotta say, that first comment was awesome. Thanks
- kicksum, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"That's how you communicate, isn't it? By citing example...by metaphor! Uzani's army...with fists open...."

I just "schwinged" and almost knocked my laptop off the desk. ... >.> ... .> - texpundit, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0BTW, they need to do a whole series centering on Section 31, the Tal Sh'iar and the Obsidian Order. Title it "Star Trek: Unseen Wars". :D
- MindTrigger, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
They are really going to have to kick the quality of Star Trek up if they plan to stand side by side with the amazing production that is Battlestar Galactica. I'm mean really, I liked Star Trek quite a bit, but the new BSG series blows any previous Star Trek stuff away. I just bought the Season 2.0 DVD set and it's every bit as amazing as the first season. I got sucked into 4 episodes in a row the other night heh. I could have kept going if I didn't have to work in them morning.
One of the big reasons I don't care much for Star Trek anymore, and that I gravitated toward shows like BSG and Firefly is that the characters have real human qualities. They have flaws, bad days, good days, etc. Other than Picard's run in with the Borg, his back story is about as boring as watching paint dry. Same with most of the other characters. 99% of the time they walk around the Enterprise like they all have a stick up their asses. Let's see some HUMAN NATURE in Star Trek next time. At the end of the day, I know more about Apollo, Starbuck, etc than I ever learned about any of the Star Trek people. - fearlessfrog, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0
How about CSI: Star Trek?
Previously on CSI:Star Trek. Data and the CSI crew investigate the murder of a young Klingon found dead in his girlfriend's garage after a wild night of partying. TV14-SV
It could happen... - Seumas, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Who cares. The only good Star Trek was The Next Generation. Why? Because the "science" part of Star Trek being "science fiction" is lame. Come on. "Warp" speed? "Diltithium crystal powered faster than light travel"? All sorts of goofy "fantasy" oriented things. What saved it? The cast. The characters. The relationships. You gave a damn about them and they were often fascinating. Especially Data, Piccard, Worf and Wesley.
No Trek since then has been able to capture things quite the same. - FRAGaLOT, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0There's too many damn episodes since the original series. It's going to repeat for the rest everyone's natural life. Paramount will make more money on syndication and DVD sales than they ever did with airing it on UPN.
Also This CBS/UPN merger is old news. Both my local CBS and UPN affiliates are about to move into the same TV studio in a month. They will still have two separate TV broadcast channels (and morning news shows), but share the same building.
Years ago the same thing happened with our local NBC, and WB affiliate channels.
Dunno what the hell my local ABC channel is up too. Fox seems to be doing fine on their own to be joined at the hip with another network or local channel. - southsloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"I, too, recognized the references to the TNG episode. >Yeah, I think it's stretching the mandate of www.wikipedia.org to include individual TV episode articles and such. Perhaps a better location is the Memory Alpha wiki (http://www.memory-alpha.org/en/wiki/Main_Page) which is dedicated to StarTrek and has about 16,000+ articles in it. - battybattybatt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0"...Maybe Roddenbery's son is old enough to take the reins.

Seems possible in that he recently was credited as advising porducer for a recent fan film of a Star Trek episode not written before (but may have been from one of the novelletts). - southsloper, on 10/12/2007, -0/+0Of course I should have scanned Memory Alpha first, there *are* articles on episodes, etc. So the suggestion would be to somehow merge this stuff into the the StarTrek Wiki :)
