- IHaveIssues, on 11/13/2007, -16/+59Tom Cruise? No thank you, not supporting that.
- stevensj2, on 11/13/2007, -2/+28The day he began his "I am a Scientologist and better than you and your medicine, no matter how necessary it is for your health" scheme.
- grandwazzoo, on 11/12/2007, -7/+30Too bad, I used to love Tom Cruise and his movies, but now - whoever he's playing - I can only see the Xenu-worshipping, fetus-eating, nutcase midget.
- loganhid, on 11/12/2007, -2/+24SPOILER:
Hitler does not get killed by this guy. - gernblansted, on 11/12/2007, -4/+25Sorry, Tom Cruise is just the wrong person for this part, a fact especially apparent when he's surrounded by real actors.
- oldhick, on 11/13/2007, -0/+20I think it was the day he started promoting his scientology ***** over his acting. It was also the day that he claimed psychology was bs and that brook shields was crazy. Maybe it was the day the cut his wife off from her family and had her guarded by Scientology monitors at all times that even began answering questions during interviews for her. Maybe it was when he started hanging with neocon Dan Synder of the Redskins to get money for his production company... The list goes on and on...
- MrNexus, on 11/10/2007, -2/+21Why can't they at least have German accents. Just another inaccurate hollywood WWII movie to throw on the pile.
- benharv, on 11/12/2007, -3/+19Three movies right in a row that I would have been totally psyched to see (Lions for Lambs, Collateral and War of The Worlds), but because Tom Cruise has soiled them, they were basically unwatchable. I really wish this movie had been cast with somebody else.
- Izacus, on 11/12/2007, -2/+16Tom Cruise... are you kiddin me? Plus, they'll probably massacre the history as they do in every Hollywood movie. They should give it to the creators of Der Untergang (Downfall).
- feshmania, on 11/13/2007, -0/+13It was about the time he belittled Matt Lauer on national television because he finally reached the level of Scientology where you lose your mind and become a pompous *****.
- TheAngryMob, on 11/09/2007, -0/+13Dude, pick up a book.
- neoform, on 11/12/2007, -1/+8Dude, how can you not love this movie?
It's a movie about Nazis that speak with British accents, except for the lead German who speaks with an American accent..! What's not to love? (this makes me think of Kostner playing Robin Hood) - whatthefu, on 11/12/2007, -5/+12From the looks of the trailer, the movie doesn't look that great. I don't care about Cruise's personal life or any of that, and his acting isn't bad, but I have a few questions. Why are he and a bunch of other Americans playing Germans? Why don't they make a movie about the American Civil War and cast only Greeks? Also, why would they trust Brian Singer with this movie?
- rockrapdude, on 11/13/2007, -1/+7Should start to boycott everything that is Scientology related!
- cruzlee, on 11/12/2007, -2/+7Carice van Houten is so hot.
http://imdb.com/name/nm0396924/ - feshmania, on 11/09/2007, -0/+5read a book, read a book, read a motherf***in' book.
- Gerz1219, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5Me too. I suspect it will be even more distracting when that Xenu-worshipping, fetus-eating, nutcase midget is wearing a Nazi uniform.
- Armyguy120, on 11/12/2007, -1/+6Realistically prepare for a role? Now you're just asking for too much.
- Cenobite, on 11/10/2007, -1/+6If you want to see a realistic and excellent WWII film about Hitler, watch the german flick Der Untergang, it's fantastic. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0363163/
- Neiby, on 11/10/2007, -0/+5Kenneth Branagh made a fantastic HBO movie called Conspiracy that was based on events leading up to the "final solution" to the "jewish problem". I seem to recall that they had German accents. It was a great movie. Superb script and top-notch acting.
- ganymede2010, on 11/12/2007, -3/+8I could care less what an actor does in his personal life. As long as he's not breaking the law. Tom Cruise Movies rock!
- HouseofEl, on 11/12/2007, -1/+5Could we have at least had accents? Even if they're ***** stereotypical eurotrash accents, it would have been better than just flat out none at all. The fact that he has no accent at all really pulls you out of the film when everyone else is talking with some form of European accent. Does Scientology have something against dialect coaches?
- phishnut, on 11/12/2007, -3/+7Yeah, unfortunately for me, this movie looks interesting, but Tom Cruise is one of the few things that I'll actually boycott.
- MrNexus, on 11/12/2007, -0/+4Christan Bale anyone?
- samolition, on 11/10/2007, -2/+6Well at least the name's cool.
- DeathfireD, on 11/10/2007, -0/+4wasn't this originally supposed to be made in Germany but they refused to let them since they where afraid that Tom would try promote Scientology? I think it was said the reason was because they consider it a cult or something.
- paulb0t, on 11/09/2007, -0/+4+1 for the eyepatch!
- sickrubik, on 11/09/2007, -0/+4Or Downfall. But his point was that it's not marketable. Das Boot wasn't exactly a smash hit here.
- Neiby, on 11/09/2007, -1/+5Barbarino, apparently you've never seen Das Boot?
Rent it. In German with English subtitles. Amazing movie. - mongoloidplease, on 11/13/2007, -2/+6Might have been worth watching had this story been told by the people who made der untergang. Instead it's just that gay closet prick playing the exact same role he's been playing in every movie from a few good men to mission impossible.
- cyberdork, on 11/13/2007, -0/+4The movie was shot in Germany.
Wikipedia:
"The producers of Valkyrie expressed interest in filming at Bendlerblock, a memorialized location where Stauffenberg and his comrades had plotted to assassinate Hitler. The Finance Ministry initially denied the producers the right to film at Bendlerblock, explaining that the site should be treated as a "place of remembrance and mourning" which would "lose dignity if we were to exploit it as a film set." The producers were also denied a request to film at a Berlin police station by the department, citing adverse impact to the facility. In September 2007, the German government had a change of heart concerning the Bendlerblock site and gave permission to the production to film there. A United Artists spokesman said that they were "very grateful" for the decision, saying that the site "[had] always been important to us symbolically, creatively and for the sake of historical authenticity" and that the company had been in continuous talks with the German government in order to clear up any misconceptions about the nature of the film. Filming has also been carried out in some of the houses which were used to hide the bombs in 1944." - bitweever, on 11/12/2007, -2/+6Tom Cruise is not a good actor. He can play Tom Cruise, and Tom Cruise being intense. This movie looks like "Maverick in Germany"
- hummer13, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4Seriously when will they stop casting this guy in potentially good films. Not only that but Tom Cruise has retroactively ruined all the movies he was in before all this began. Just can't sit down and watch his movies anymore.
- sickrubik, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3-100 for "Cruiseness".
- Neiby, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4I don't hate him. He's just not that great of an actor. He's good at playing one type of character. Unfortunately, this movie needed someone different for that role. I'm afraid he's going to ruin it. It looks like a great movie, but Cruise is a very weak link, especially when compared to the other actors in the film.
- MacSuxWindozSux, on 11/13/2007, -2/+5The day he went crazy on Oprah, bit Oprah's sofa, and punched her in the face. Weired that she didn't sue.
- BlogEx, on 11/09/2007, -4/+7It's crazy to think of how different the world would be had the plan worked...
- sickrubik, on 11/12/2007, -1/+4SPOILER:
He faked the moon landings. - mongoloidplease, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3I know nusssssing!
- gardnert1, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3Is he really that lazy that he couldnt even ATTEMPT a German accent? Or ANY accent for that matter?
- sickrubik, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3Easily one of the top 5 movies of the past 5 years. So beautiful.
- gyrfalcon, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3Did you forget to add /sarcasm?
- windmillninja, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3To say that a movie in a foreign language doesn't bring in bank is obtuse. Letters from Iwo Jima. Amelie. A Very Long Engagement. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon.
- ICSU, on 11/12/2007, -2/+5How is he different from any other religious nut? As long as his opinions do not show in the film...
- Hockey13, on 11/13/2007, -0/+3We were mostly seeing his stuntman in his prime in your video.
- robdiggity, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3I still have flashbacks on that movie. Bruno Ganz in a simply peerless performance.
- inactive, on 11/10/2007, -0/+3Hitler > Xenu
(yes I think Xenu is a little more evil than Hilter, not much, but a little) - Asianwaste, on 11/09/2007, -0/+3Hitler had a lot of people under him that were just as bad if not worse
- sja32, on 11/10/2007, -0/+2Oh by the by, if anyone is interested in the film's concept you should check out Saints and Villains. It's a historical novel about the life of a German pastor who was part of the plot to kill Hitler.
- casbboy, on 11/09/2007, -0/+2I posted this yesterday in hi-def quicktime (at the source, Yahoo). You guys really prefer crap-flash?
