- Mc_Carter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+66Can we just not remake this movie and call it even.
- ShaneApex, on 10/10/2007, -1/+32Blasphemy.
- ArthurSucks, on 10/10/2007, -0/+28What the ***** is wrong with Hollywood? Can't they think of anything new, or must they "disney" everything?
- j3rm1981, on 10/10/2007, -1/+27Jet Li, yes...'cept he said he's not doing any more martial arts films.
What about Tony Jaa?
But I gotta ask...if it ain't broke, why fix it? - g30ff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18Tony Jaa is Thai, and I don't think many people would agree with your claim that Jet Li follows Bruce's style. Li's style is probably best characterized as modern wushu, an exhibition sport which is as much gymnastics as it is a martial art, and probably owes more to northern kung fu styles. Bruce Lee initially trained in Wing Chun, an agressive style from the south that uses mainly the hands. He later incorporated principles from boxing and fencing and other Chinese martial arts and developed his own style (Jun Fan Gong Fu). Eventually he found even that too restrictive and wanted to get away from the idea of having a 'style'. He referred to this martial philosophy as Jeet Kune Do and incorporated ideas from Muay Thai, the Filipino martial arts, and wrestling among other places. Jet Li's style is very flashy and eye-catching whereas Bruce Lee's style was more economical and direct.
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13they should remake The Last Dragon instead
- gtak55, on 10/10/2007, -0/+12omg..why touch a classic? shame on the industry for destroying this movie for a few bucks
- g30ff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10I like Jet Li, don't get me wrong, but if they have to remake this film I think he'd be a bad choice for the main character. Jet Li has his own fan base and his own style and I don't think he would fit well as a stand-in for Bruce Lee. I do think, however, that he'd make an excellent Han, and Han was a pretty cool badguy.
Bruce Lee was a cocky young guy with real credibility as a marial artist and and I'd like to see them pick someone like that for for the role of Lee's character. Tony Jaa could fit the bill if they can put a little swagger in him, but there are probably lots of young guys with a background in martial arts that can be traced back to Lee and a bit of TV or film experience. What I'd also like to see is a cameo by Jackie Chan reprising his role from the original. - gtak55, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11Enter the Dragon..Starring Tom Hanks
- g30ff, on 10/10/2007, -1/+9What can I say? I'm like a living, breathing, eating, ***** encyclopedia of completely useless trivia.
- akkuma, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8Bruce Lee already killed Chuck Norris in one of his movies.
- ceredron, on 10/10/2007, -0/+8NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
why the ***** would they even try to remake a legend? to me, it'll be nothing but disappointment. - DocHoliday22, on 10/10/2007, -2/+10We need a new face for this. Jet Li is good but if he does it it'll just be another Jet Li movie and the point of it being a Bruce Lee remake will be lost. We needs an unknown to be the Bruce.... I wonder who will play Bolo?
- shootdashit, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7why did it take so long for some one to say that?
- inactive, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Computer-generated facsimile of The Bruce himself.
- bigfkncee, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Shonuff!!!
- estacado, on 10/10/2007, -1/+7Stephen Chow (from Shaolin Soccer and Kungfu Hustle).
- Xanadude, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6And in related news, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony is going to be remade with jazzed-up technobeats and vocals by Britney Spears and N'Sync.
- tatltat, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5aka really good at wikipedia
- Chewie67, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5No No No No NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
There is NO ONE (including Jet Li) who comes even close to Bruce Lee. Don't mess with the classic. - gullevek, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6Thanks, but no thanks. Some movies shall not be remade. Actually I cannot remember any movie that was good in a remake.
- mj2wenty3, on 10/10/2007, -1/+5I find this to be pretty stupid. Enter the Dragon was my favorite movie when I was a kid, and I'm only 19 now...before people where flying around like ***** idiots kicking and doing all that bs, Bruce Lee was kicking butt...I just can't picture anyone but Bruce Lee in EtD...As if dying before the original was finished wasn't enough, they have to go and ***** up what is the greatness of Bruce Lee...Horrible idea through and through...might as well have Chuck Norris play Roper and get Wesley Snipes as Williams just to ***** it up as much as they can...no matter what cast of characters they pull out for it, the vintage-ness of the original will be much better than whatever is put out. RIP Bruce, cuz i'd be tryna crack that grave open if i were you....
- monkeyrun, on 10/10/2007, -0/+4Crap, it would suck so bad if they get someone to do a Bruce Lee impersonation....
- canewediggit, on 10/10/2007, -3/+7jet li said he's not doing any more 'epics' along the line of hero or once upon a time in china. tony jaa is korean isn't he? plus, jet follows bruce's style and has a similar build.
but yeah, i agree. they shouldn't even bother w/ the remake. leave well enough alone. although sam jack with an afro going "all ghettos are the same, man. they stink" may be worth the price of admission alone. - HeyArnold, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3GOD ***** DAMNIT!!!
bruce lee's corpse is going to rise up and kick the ***** out of all of you, if you remake this movie!!!
This is disrespectful to all of his fans and family. you just cant remake the definitive "kung fu movie". - DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4Rob Schneider is ... a ninja carrot teamed up with Adam Sandler. The two are sent to a remote island paradise where they face ninja dogs where they must fight to the death for the amusement of the evil cat overlord, but Adam Sandler falls in love with one of them they destroy the entire operation.
- racco, on 10/10/2007, -2/+5BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- injury0314, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4I second Jaa.
The first time I saw Ong-Bak I immediately thought Bruce Lee. - eQUIV, on 10/10/2007, -0/+3Why? This is just another case of Hollywood running out of ideas and trying to remake a classic movie, only to result in a sub-par film in comparison to the original. My question is how is this a remake if it's not even keeping the original title? Is the script going to be identical to the original? Alot of these remakes are loosely based on the original script, if that's the case with this script then isn't "Bloodsport" and "Mortal Kombat" already remakes of Enter the Dragon? The idea of people traveling somewhere foreign to fight in a martial arts tournament has been done to death since ETD. If they can honestly find someone as talented and charismatic as Bruce Lee, it might be worth a watch. Out of todays modern martial arts stars I could really only recommend Tony Jaa for the lead in this film. Otherwise I can't see this movie being any good.
- canewediggit, on 10/10/2007, -1/+4i was thinking the jeet kune do b/c of fist of legend. but thanks for all that, i can now say i learned something today.
- paker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2If Hollywood will make "Underdog" into a live action movie, this doesn't surprise me.
- bigp3rm, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Leave it alone please. Some classics need to stay just that.. classic
- g30ff, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2I think Bolo Yeung is still keeping in shape these days, so they might not even have to look for a replacement. Kinda tough to match that physique...
- zaul32, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is an insult to men everywhere
- jason469, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2This is madness! there isn't a need for a remake or a part 2, 3, 4, or 5. Enter the Dragon was great, just stop there.
- b0b0, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Starring Samuel L. Jackson as Sho'Nuff.
"Kiss my *****' Converse, *****!" - lousyhunter, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Hang on everybody, this is gonna be crap...
- daedalus779, on 10/10/2007, -2/+4bruce lee is doing a roundhouse kick in his grave.
- Sithely, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2HERESY !!!!!!!
- markgl, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Tony Jaa, he is the next big thing and a movie like that would put him in the american spotlight. just watch ong bak. that movie kills!!!
- marcomc2, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Heard about this...what the HELL.
Way of The Dragon should be kept as IT IS, for all eternity.
Cant believe theyre even remaking The Five Deadly Venoms, whats wrong with you filmmakers!!!! CREATE A NEW ONE, build on past ideas, dont rob them and exploit them, HACKS. - NeoCortex, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Bourne Identity and Ocean's Eleven worked out alright. Of course, I still have no hope for an Enter the Dragon remake. The stereotypes alone in the old one make impossible to recreate today without getting a ton of ***** of PC groups.
- Osjpr, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Jet Li is past his time. He is not like Bruce Lee.
- uberfu, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2why the ***** remake the film ??
I am getting so damned tired of Hollywood remaking movies that have already been made_ It kills the sanctity of the original_ It devalues good films_
Whay can't they come up with new ideas for a change ?
Why do I goto the theater to see a new release only to find that I paid $8 for a ticket for movie that was originally released 20 years ago ? - powerninja, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Tony Jaa is great. Unfortunately Tony Jaa can't speak English (Albeit accent, Bruce Lee could speak English well -- wrote several books)
- DangerMouse9, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2Yeah, or A Fistful of Yen from Kentucky Fried Movie.
- LocalDocal, on 10/10/2007, -1/+3Er, Tony Jaa could fit if you add some "swagger"? Sorry to disagree, but no. Personally, I would think that someone with a martial arts background similar to Lee's would be better. I can't really imagine a Bruce Lee movie in which the main protagonist delivers a muay thai knee to someone's face.
- Metman, on 10/10/2007, -0/+2When you can not come up with anything original, simply destroy a classic!
- bemenaker, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1Just had a thought, it has a new name, it has a new story, it's not really a remake. Calling it a remake is a marketing ploy.
- TurmoilTech, on 10/10/2007, -0/+1I think they can pull it off... BUT only with Tony Jaa.
