Yes there are a lot of top ten lists ... this happens EVERY year-end. Lots of summations, lots of top 10s of 2008. It's like wondering why the hell there's so much political content every 4 years.
Also, for all the "where are the top 10 top 10 lists?" people. It's not funny anymore, everyone says that, and to top it off they actually do make top 10 lists of top 10 lists. Many of those get posted on Digg. It is no longer meta-humor.
