Anyone else thinking that? - NecroSexy, on 10/10/2007, -0/+64BRUSH YOUR TEEEEEEEEETH!!!
- lazysnake1013, on 10/31/2007, -2/+55high expectations for a movie based on a great book,
but Angelina Jolie is TOO SEXY to be Grendel's mom.... - ghoest, on 10/10/2007, -1/+49Fantastically plastic people... good job Sony.. way to bring game graphics to the big screen
- CitizenSnips1, on 10/10/2007, -0/+37This movie is going to be awful. Motion capture is an embarrassment to the industry. This movie would have made an amazing live action film will great special effects. It has a great cast but all of the performances are lost in the capture process The animation is unbelievable lifeless. As an animator in the industry myself I can say this movie looks worse then the Polar Express. That being said, if you want to know a little in inside info, when they did the 3d scans of the actors to create the models, they scanned the body of a much younger woman and attached Angelina's head to it. Angelina doesn't look that good anymore.
- FiP0, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30That trailer looks like it's nothing but CGI... I swear I thought I was looking at a videogame preview :|
- Beatmiser, on 10/10/2007, -1/+30Only if you start spanking it halfway through the film when the cgi melons pop out.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -5/+33Or they could, you know, do live action. I thought this movie looked cool until I saw this stupid trailer.
- Beatmiser, on 10/10/2007, -2/+29I was more excited by the 'Shoot Em Up' trailer next to it. I have yet to see humans well animated via CGI, they all seem to have mild forms of downs syndrome. That said, it does look better than the average fare.
- stigma15, on 10/10/2007, -0/+26I remember thinking, how are they gonna make Beowulf PG-13? They are taking a big risk making an R-rated CG animated film. I hope it pays off for them (assuming its a good movie)
- ButterBuddha, on 10/10/2007, -2/+25Dismemberment + boobies = AWESOME
- mnky9800n, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22Beowulf isn't a novel you idiot. It is a poem. An epic poem.
- Cougaboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+22It's actually a poem...and it's the definition of classic because it's one of the very first pieces of english (even if it's old english) literature.
- weeeeeeee, on 10/10/2007, -3/+23sorry.. no, this looks lame. the CG sucks, make it animated if you aren't going to do live action
- nymphetamine, on 10/10/2007, -14/+33These are the kinda movies we need. Please, no more of that cgi kiddy *****. I mean it's good, but come on; lets blow some ***** up!
- moofer, on 10/10/2007, -0/+18NC-17. There's only one female smurf in existence. Now you know why they're blue.
- mark5hs, on 10/10/2007, -1/+18this CGI looks like a video game...
- RogaDanar, on 10/10/2007, -3/+18Move over Jessica Rabbit...
- bjs3171, on 10/10/2007, -1/+16yep.
- Samji, on 10/10/2007, -2/+17***** hell. That's R rated. What the ***** is the Smurfs then PG-13?
- gyrfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -5/+20This movie is completely kiddy CGI *****... They took a good norse legend and completely pervert it.
Checkout the movie Beowulf & Grendel for something cooler. - ejhdigdug, on 10/10/2007, -1/+14Video games look better.
- Stegura, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13I'm pretty sure he says "kill your monster"
- Firehed, on 10/10/2007, -0/+13Umm... animality. That, or we played two VERY different versions of Mortal Kombat.
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -0/+11Our BEES will blot out the sun!
- LilRabbitFooFoo, on 08/11/2008, -2/+13While I support more mature storylines for animated films, this looks like one very long very badly done CGI video game open cutscene. The lighting is below amateurish. The textures are low resolution. The motion looks like bad key frame animation NOT professional motion capture. The human skin has no subsurface translucency (why they look like cardboard/plastic) and Grendel's Mom looks like a bad reflection mapped girl model demo from the early 90's of CGI. With the bar being set by Gollum from LOTR and the CGI stunts of Superman from SUPERMAN RETURNS, just as recent examples, couldn't someone like Zemeckis have gotten this to look better than this CRAP?!
- jmpeagle, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10it's actually an Old British legend about the Norse peoples.
- preisler, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11http://downloads.paramount.com/mp/beowulf/Beowulf_InternetTrailer_720p.mov
- satanatnmtedu, on 10/10/2007, -1/+11CG looks pretty unrealistic, and there was no nudity. Maybe to someone who thinks an R rating is a big deal, it was "nudity". But, you can see as much or more at the beach or pool.
- MaddieCakes, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10Oh my God, I know. As soon as he said 'Tonight' I was like, OMG SPARTA? WHERE?
- thepeopleseason, on 10/10/2007, -0/+10The Uncanny Valley: http://wardomatic.blogspot.com/2004/12/polar-express-virtual-train-wreck.html
- Rizzen, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9Then we shall hug in the shade.
- mihkeltt, on 10/10/2007, -0/+9THIS IS MADNESS!!!!
- spudnic, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12Not even a good one...
It looks like what pre-rendered video game cut-scenes looked like 3 years ago - mariowario, on 10/10/2007, -3/+12In the end when he yells "I am Beowulf" reminded me of "This is sparta!"
- MaxUdargo, on 11/10/2007, -0/+9That's exactly what I was thinking and what I came here to comment upon. Kind of pathetic, I thought.
- potterboy, on 10/10/2007, -1/+8thats 480p
- r0ryb0ryalis, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Madness?
- FearlessFreep, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Is this the one with Christopher Lambert?
- jdwhitehouse, on 10/10/2007, -0/+7Beowulf predates the earliest English novels by as much as eight hundred years.
- drjekelmrhyde, on 10/10/2007, -0/+6Was the silver woman suppose to be nude ?
- DeathBorn, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6These are not the kind of movies we need. If you're going to do CGI, at least take the effort to make it look like a render instead of a video game. To think that I thought this had a small chance of being good.
- evilesttoast, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6WTF
- atonement, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5go watch the final fantasy cgi movie it was great animation - no down syndrome
- ngmcs8203, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6One of my favorite stories from my High School English courses. I too am looking forward to the movie. Here's to it not being a let down!
- tehpwnrate, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6I don't think Leonidus ever said he was Sparta, Sparticus, or anything like that.
- culbeda, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6So, you hated reading Beowolf, but you go by the nick of "crushtheenemy". Perhaps you should should consider a new handle, like "illiteratenincompoop", "hatestheclassics" or perhaps "girlynimrod"
- gyrfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -0/+5Yeah no kidding... +1 to non-idiotic digg users
- Duamerthrax, on 10/10/2007, -1/+6What do either of those have to do with Beowulf?
- gyrfalcon, on 10/10/2007, -2/+6It's probably because you're the dumbest idiot ever created to think this is the best CGI ever created.
If you want to watch CGI go to SigGraph events. If you want to see a good movie, forget about this piece of sh@#. -
