- Ninjab3ar, on 10/11/2007, -3/+47For a second I thought they were talking about Batman's custom iPod
- rkettner, on 10/11/2007, -0/+36Yeah... looks like a cape-accident waiting to happen.
- sdcarter, on 10/11/2007, -1/+35Where does he get those wonderful toys?
- JCSaint, on 10/11/2007, -0/+30@Winters
He may not NEED machine guns, but it doesn't mean they aren't fun to have. - aliengoods, on 10/11/2007, -0/+26While it looks cool as hell, I hope they don't fall into the trap of the other Batman movies and rely on special effects to keep people interested. The reason I loved Batman Begins is the story was excellent, and the special effects were just a bonus.
- inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+26yes
- Winters, on 10/11/2007, -6/+28Wait, machine guns?
Hmmmm.....
Must be just for show, since Batman doesnt need guns. - djpants428, on 10/11/2007, -1/+22No, unfortunately there was a BatCredit card or something like that... In Batman and Robin, Clooney flashes a Batman credit card to Robin and says something lame/obvious like "Never leave the cave without it"
And then the audience dies a little inside... - Xeth, on 10/11/2007, -1/+174 Flexi-Grip Handles, of course.
- ausfahrt, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Don't think that means anything ... he could just be adding to his toy collection. Keep it positive :-)
- Orion682, on 10/11/2007, -1/+17Just to point out something to the "OMG BATMAN DOESN'T USE GUNS!" people, the Tumbler had guns as well... How do you think it shot down that tram support at the end of the first one (Alright, so it was more like cannons, but the point still stands)?
I hardly think he's going to be gunning down criminals or civilians in it, since it'd break the style they went out of their way to set in Begins. It's more likely anti-vehicular weaponry rather than anti-personnel.
And to the "It's a toy" people... So what? Batman has NO superpowers in case you've forgotten. He runs around town in a costume and cape. The only reason he pulls off the things he does is because of his gadgetry and intellect. Without that, he'd be taking the subway to go after criminals.
I don't know about you, but a movie wherein Batman is taking the subway sounds more like my commute to work than an interesting film. A movie where Batman's cape stiffens when an electrical impulse is applied, and allows him to fly as if from a hang glider (ala Batman Begins) is another matter though.
Are gadgets everything? Of course not!
Can they salvage a bad movie? The last Pierce Brosnan James Bond movie proved that's impossible.
But are they an inherent part of Batman's character? Absolutely.
I'm not saying that he should have shark repellent in his utility belt, but it's not Batman without some cool, military style toys. - cnefti, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15here's a video from the today show revealing the batpod
http://video.msn.com/v/us/fv/fv.htm??g=13f4067e-e33c-4d98-96b1-51bafdd4f35e&t=m17&f=06/64&p=source_today%20show&fg=>1=10056#900910679137122335 - unibomber999, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15It isn't fake. They showed it on the Today show this morning.
- heyitsgarrett, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15@lithuin
You obviously don't recall the "Bat Credit Card" from the genius work "Batman and Robin". - stupidStan, on 10/11/2007, -0/+15Those arent machine guns, those are 'shark repellent' guns... duh
- crackedplastic, on 10/11/2007, -1/+15@Winters:
Batman started off with guns in the Year One and Year Two storylines. - techlinks, on 10/11/2007, -7/+18Umm, am I the only one who thinks it is ugly as a mouthful of half chewed bubble gum?
- psion01, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10Batman ... with machine guns. Guns? Batman? I must be getting old.
- hiPpymIck, on 10/11/2007, -0/+10heres a picture of where he got it
http://www.2000adonline.com/books/assets/covers/judge_dredd_batman.jpg - aoneal417, on 10/11/2007, -2/+11@sdcarter
Morgan Freeman - SpenceMasta, on 10/11/2007, -0/+7well when i first saw the bat-tank i thought it was horrible, then i saw it in the movie, not so horrible, i learned my lesson...
- rspeed, on 10/11/2007, -0/+6Why did you have to go and make me remember that movie?
- TyphoidTimmy, on 10/11/2007, -4/+10Interesting look
....just as long as we ain't seeing it fly up the wall of a dead end street - knuvue, on 12/05/2007, -1/+7Somebody want to tell me how a "motorcycle" with two tires that large and flat could turn? Haha
- vaconex, on 10/11/2007, -3/+9Tell a story. If you must sell toys, just do it. No reason to make a movie for product tie-ins.
- Optimaximal, on 10/11/2007, -2/+7@blizaine
"The guns actually shoot out tiny Bat-shaped Chinese stars"
Lots of tiny little Chow-Yun-Fats flying towards his enemies? - Azslande, on 10/11/2007, -0/+5Maybe he's using Non-Leathal rounds........ Bat-Bullets....
- bg123, on 10/11/2007, -1/+5Why does batman's bike need all those guns if he never shoots anyone?
- Andytom, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4That video is incredible for sexual innuendo.
"you have to be long to ride it"
"its hard to straddle" - Lactoso, on 10/11/2007, -0/+4I agree that gimmicking up the 'new' Batman is definitely the wrong move, but the Adam West Batman & Robin series was supposed to be funny, hardly a valid comparison.
The new Batman would most certainly avail himself of the latest technological advances, so I'm not against some gizmos, but as long as they're at least somewhat plausible (i.e., tumbler good, gravity-defying jet bike bad). - MaynardJK, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7Yes, but did you know that me digging you down for a lame joke was coming?
- darlyn, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Looks like one of those toys you see at Walmart ...
- DeskFlyer, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3Stop spamming already, asshat.
- resplence, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Tranquilizers.
- lithuin, on 10/11/2007, -4/+7It's actually measured in Gallons per Mile.
But it doesn't matter, because who's gonna come after you when you drive off at the pump without paying? - theMurdocVolta, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Reminds me of the Dodge Tomahawk but BIGGER!
- Boondoggle, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3that is a problem. I suspect turns will mostly be handled by CGI.
- spidoman, on 10/11/2007, -0/+3As long as it's realistic as the tumbler (the car did 99% of the stuff it did in the movie) I'm perfectly fine with it. Just hoping they don't sell out and go all CGI.
- Lactoso, on 10/11/2007, -1/+4Yup - http://www.bayraider.tv/2006/04/check_in_with_a.html
- rcran, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5How exactly is he sitting on that thing?
- angelrendon, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2http://video.msn.com/v/us/fv/fv.htm??g=13f4067e-e33c-4d98-96b1-51bafdd4f35e&t=m17&f=06/64&p=source_today%20show&fg=>1=10056
I don't know if that link works but it's definitely real; it was featured on the Today Show. Also, the original source is the LA Times. So let's avoid a whole discussion on why it's probably fake when it obviously isn't. Also, can anyone link to the original leaked photo--the fake leak that some have mentioned. - CapeKid, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3What happens when you take away batman's gadgets:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Snjh1hT853g&mode=related&search= - inactive, on 10/11/2007, -1/+3those guns are HUGE, where does the bike store its ammo? you need a massive drum to carry even 500rds
or does it only shoot 3 times per barrel? - spudnic, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2The film is about a guy who dresses up as a bat and fights ridiculous evil criminals riding a giant bike..thing; and your complaint about realism is where he stores the ammunition?
- PapaKin, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2Batman had guns on the tumbler (or at least rockets... which really are a lot more destructive). He used them to make more "roads" on the rooftops. Just because they are there doesn't necessarily mean they are designed to kill people.
- angelrendon, on 10/11/2007, -2/+4@lithuin
he kids you not, there is definitely a scene in batman & robin where he flashes some sort of official batman branded american express card - laggemawrf, on 10/11/2007, -0/+2"When the Rottwheelers hit the road, we own it!"
- Boondoggle, on 10/11/2007, -3/+5Ok, so I know it is just a movie, but there is no room on that thing for a useful amount of ammunition. Also, as a motorcycle, it is likely to be very hard to handle. It is very long, and those wide, flat tires are a big no-no on motorcycles.
But it sure looks cool. - ironrex, on 10/11/2007, -0/+1How do you know it isn't intentional product placement, paid for by Apple?
