As far as I know Heath Ledger is already taking care of backend verification...
http://www.brokebackmountain.com/
Sorry, I just couldn't resist... - orfilms, on 10/12/2007, -2/+47Dude, when i posted the story digg didn't alert me to any suspected dupe postings. My RSS reader alerted me to your posting after I posted mine, so i just assumed you posted after me. I was wrong. I apologize. At the same time, your posting is innacurate and the linked website contains no information what-so-ever. It's mostly opinion. I didn't mean to step on anyones toes. I post all the time and have had this happen to me countless times. It sucks. Let's move on. What does everyone think of the new title and casting choice? I think Ledger will be able to do a great job but he's an odd choice. The new title rocks.
- orfilms, on 10/12/2007, -10/+44The story posted 7 minutes before is innaccurate. The movie title is wrong, and it's just a glorified link blog posting. This story contains the full press release and no wrong information
- Nightfall, on 10/12/2007, -1/+22I remember when Jack Nicholson was cast as the Joker when Batman was announced. People thought he ws too old, and not good enough to play the part of the Joker. Man, we were wrong. Mark Hamill really did a good job on the voice of the Joker in the animated series. Another casting that die hards thought was horrible.
Lets see what Heath can bring to the table before we pass judgement. I think Christopher Nolan has a good idea of what he wants to see from the Joker and casted the right guy. You think Nolan would have casted someone who couldn't play the Joker? In my mind right now though, I agree with you. Based on the past though, I am going to reserve judgement until I see the movie. The proof is in the pudding so to speak. - dvpdziyn, on 10/12/2007, -0/+19Batman Begins was one of the best superhero movies thus far (Spider-Man 2 competes well, though). I am eager to see this in the theater!
- rm999, on 10/12/2007, -3/+20Great news, I loved the first!
Even better news:
http://www.news24.com/News24/Entertainment/Abroad/0,,2-1225-1243_1724618,00.html
Hopefully it will be a scientology-free movie. Besides, Katie Holmes sucked in batman. She had to be my least favorite part of that movie. - inactive, on 10/12/2007, -3/+15Who will play the Joker's ruggedly handsome boyfriend?
- josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -1/+11No... I don't agree. Tim Burton commercialized Batman for all of the BIG cosumer market. It was way too Holloweeny and Cartoonish for me...
- mamluk, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Actually, if someone posts an article with little information, like JoeBeaner did, I don't think they have much of a right to get upset if someone else posts an article with information on ther same topic. Nor should they be expected to post the link under the comments of an article with little info.
Digg is about posting high-quality articles and allowing the wisdom of the crowds to decide which articles they like. Its a type of social darwinism where the weak fall to the bottom. Your article failed. I am sure you can find more information about the new movie and get a story on the front page someday soon. - Tenareth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Ok, I buried your story...
This one is better anyway. - jdstorer2, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10"...please bury this."
Sure, I'll bury your comment. Anyone who cries dupe automatically gets my -digg and a big fat "Block/Report this User". Hopefully, eventually I'll weed out these people, so relevant comments are not overwhelmed with this crap. People like you need to realize that with a system like this, there will always be dupes. Grow up and move along. - CingleMolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+10Why does it matter? Digg trives on dupes. Some make it to the front page, some don't. It may be due to the timing of the post, but its usually because one has a better title or description or link. Really... think about it... the dupes are a GOOD thing. They help get us to the best information available (most of the time).
- reddevil3, on 10/12/2007, -2/+12'The Dark Knight' is not a bad title at all. Also, Philip Seymour Hoffman may play the Penguin...he would be perfect! He is a brilliant actor.
- MurphyWonKenObi, on 10/12/2007, -1/+10Tim Burton has made some great movies, but lets get something straight, Tim Burtons movies are out of whack. Inconsistant themes, thin plots, weak direction, but the actors make up for it, sometimes. Tim Burton had his chance to F-up the Batman movies, and he did. Don't ever let him near another one.
- Tenareth, on 10/12/2007, -0/+9Did you read comics much?
The writers constantly did parallel tracks, trying new story lines, etc. This is just a new medium for them to continue doing what they do. Minor changes to the story line that translate better, etc.
This new Batman is really interesting because they are making it a bit more "believable" than previous comic-looking ones. - CingleMolt, on 10/12/2007, -0/+8@rodtrent
So... Digg should be more like Slashdot? I respectfully suggest that you're missing the point of the Democratic (or mob mentality) design of Digg. - aNoble, on 10/12/2007, -0/+7I kinda wish that she was coming back in this one just so they could kill her off in the first five minutes of the movie.
- eurotransient, on 10/12/2007, -1/+8@MurphyWon
Amen to that. Tim Burton is seriously inconsistent and overrated, especially as of late. As great as Pee Wee's Big Adventure, Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands were, it's hard to forgive the a travesty like Mars Attack! Or Planet of the Apes. Or Big Fish.
See where I'm going with this? Blah. Enough Tim Burton fanboying out there. Let's move on to more interesting directors. - newman328, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6How do you feel now?
- datastorageguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+7Who gives a ***** about who put the story up first....
The fact is that Batman begins was the best Batman movie made. The first is a close runner up, the rest are just total garbage. Can't wait to see the sequel.
The best idea for a Batman movie: Batman: The Dark Knight Returns (by Miller) and/or The Killing Joke graphic novels made into a movie. That would be great stuff if done right. - AmazingAndrex, on 07/18/2008, -0/+6Lmao, I'm glad I'm not the only one going through old posts and calling out the morons.
- Nightfall, on 10/12/2007, -3/+9This is Batman, not Brokeback Mountain. ;)
- mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6and by casting Topher Grace they were looking for someone that is similar to Tobey Maguire...
- Shamonue, on 10/12/2007, -3/+8I sometime question hollywood's choice of actors for some roles (Topher Grace as Venom wtf), I just hope that they both don't mess it up. Granted I Loved a Knight's Tale, but the Joker? I'm a little iffy.
- tewcewl, on 10/12/2007, -1/+6How do you know? People said the same exact thing about Tobey Maguire when he signed up to play Spider-Man.
- etruscan, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5Nicholson was a good "cartoon" joker. The best "dark knight" joker I can think of would have been Paul Bettany... and I'm really disappointed they didn't go with him. They should just leave the Penguin out of the story if they can't do him justice. Danny DeVito... pff.
- c4171, on 10/12/2007, -0/+5"The Joker was created and died and now they're reviving him for no reason but to appeal to the ignorant people who don't care about the finer details of the previous Batman movies."
Yeah, like the finer details in Batman&Robin and Batman Forever. Some great details in those.
The TITLE "Batman Begins" is your proof that this iteration ignores the continuity of the original movie series, not just the revival of the Joker. - rodtrent, on 10/12/2007, -15/+19More evidence that Digg is broken a bit. There needs to be more backend verficiation for stories than just an URL.
- HsoKinees, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3I liked Batman begins, I reckon that Christian Bale plays a great Batman.. i'll look forward to the next one :)
P.S., Check out Christian Bale's Equilibrium movie if you like action movies :D - mecole21, on 10/12/2007, -0/+3Just read the Wikipedia articles... i think Killing Joke would make a good movie... Dark Knight Returns might be a little harder with Superman in it...
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4Batman Begins and Batman (the one with Michael Keaton) have no relation story wise. Batman Begins is a total reboot.
- spidaman009, on 10/12/2007, -2/+5NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! Crispin Glover would have been a thousand times better than Heath Ledger to play the joker!
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000417/ - datastorageguy, on 10/12/2007, -1/+4If anyone is curious here are the wik links:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Dark_Knight_Returns
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Killing_Joke - a7bat, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2It's horrible for casting Ledger as the Joker, but did you ever read the Batman comics? You'd understand why they chose to go the route of the comics instead of the previous Batman films.
- BuGz213, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2the first 2 batman's were good then they kinda went downhill... batsuit with nipples... :S
- royalwcheese, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2I want Dark Knight Returns, and Frank Miller needs to co-direct like he did with Sin City.
- mandarin, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2eww
- matts0344, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3Batman Begins is not supposed to connect with the old Batman movies!
And I for one am glad because compared to Batman Begins the old movies suck! - Sukino, on 10/12/2007, -1/+3@rodtrent
There is. It's called "digg it" and "bury". - josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -2/+4I can just see it now... The ending line will be..."Damn you Batman, I wish I knew how to quit you" Which after will follow a haunting laughter as he dies from overwhelming Hilarity...
- mrsark, on 10/12/2007, -0/+2they should bring in heath ledgers wife and make it be Batman: Dawsons Creek
- got-haggis, on 10/12/2007, -2/+3i wonder if this will be based on the frank miller comic? can't wait to see batman kick supermans ass!
- staffa, on 08/25/2008, -0/+1I dunno, quite a few commenters were willing to trust in Nolan, a trust that payed off.
- mooseblaster, on 10/12/2007, -6/+7Now now, no need for the language, dude.
But I agree, get a grip you two. - josegutz, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1Equilibrium was fantastic... Sad that it didn't get as much recognition as it should have..
- noeljohnhoward, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1probably the best comic movie.
Probably.... - Nerevar, on 10/12/2007, -1/+2Agreed. He has the pointy face thing going on like Joker did in the animated series. And he's kinda creepy-looking in general.
- UserNull, on 07/24/2008, -0/+1How wrong we all were.
- cowgurlb, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1i'm just glad that michael caine is back as alfred. i love him as an actor, and i love his character.
- JoeBeaner, on 10/12/2007, -0/+1You are all correct. Dupes are going to happen etc etc etc. Got it. My reaction originated from the fact that orfilms called my entry a dupe when it wasn't. Mine was not the greatest worded article with the most info at the end. I get it, his is better (I agree). Still, don't post dupe on my entry without even looking at the post time when yours is the true dupe. Report it for inaccuracy or whatever, or just allow your entry to succeed on its own merit. Whatever. The end.

What is Digg?
